  1. After an intense period of testing, panic, technical embarrassment and, eventually, excitement, we're delighted to announce the launch of our new Gersnet Podcast. Each week our eager pool of presenters and guests will review all the relevant Rangers news, as well as offering up their analysis of that week's matches. Usually we'll be recording every Sunday evening for a release on the Tuesday or Wednesday. Now and again we'll also be looking to record some special shows along with some extra guests. For our launch broadcast, Colin Armstrong @Govan Rear Bear , Ross Bennett @rfb1872 and myself look back at the draw with Motherwell whilst also discussing OTT stewarding and a lack of choice for Rangers fans watching/listening to games. We're still currently awaiting propagation (and approval) from some platforms but we're hopeful the podcasts will be available very soon across several providers. At the moment you can subscribe to the pod via the following platforms (remember to download their app from the App Store and/or Google Play) if you want to listen/download on your mobile devices. If you encounter any problems, then please email us for help. Colin Armstrong (Govan_Rear_Bear / @moonman1873) Ross Bennett (rfb1872 / @RossBenn1) Stewart Franklin (Frankie / @GersnetOnline) David Fraser (Soulsonic5791 ) David Tomlinson (Pete / @GersnetPete) We've also had a wide range of other people express an interest in appearing so you be sure of a varied line-up and topic list over the coming weeks and months. A special thanks goes to our talented sound guru @Big Jaws who has been a huge help in getting this off the ground and he'll be doing the dirty editing work each week. Anyway, I think that's enough information for one post so please have a listen of the pod and post your feedback on the forum and/or get in touch via social media or email.

  2. I am not 100% behind you on Morelos out of form. If it was not for Morelos we would not have been near Motherwell in the second half. He was starved in the first half and was the catalyst to our better performance in the second half.

  4. We looked good for a few months winning games with some style, defensively we were tight but a few injuries put paid to that period. At the moment we are all over the place, Morelos is misfiring our shape is static one dimensional, teams are reading the script and it's costing us. I think the club have been fair to Murty they have given him a platform to show what he can offer, i agreed at the time as i thought as well, ''let us see what Murty can do'' My opinion is that he still has a long way to go before his apprenticeship is served, if he still wants to continue in management then i think his traineeship lies elsewhere next season. There's no way in god's earth can Rangers continue with an apprentice manager if we are seriously looking to catch the tims. They are definitely a year or two ahead of us, they have a stronger squad more experienced players and a proven manager, we need to emulate that experience and strength, that will take money, whether we have it or prepared to spend it is for another thread.

  5. Spent some time with a few Berwick Rangers fans over easter. They go to all matches home and away and were all raving about the lad. Berwick have conceded a lot of goals but he has been picking up a lot of MoM awards despite that. He could be the answer to our goalkeeping position in the next couple of years. I might be stretching it a bit but if he and young Ross become features in our team our central defensive understanding may take an upswing. At least they will know what each other is thinking. On another positive we seem to be quite popular down there unlike the rotten mhob who caused major (unreported of course) problems last time they visited.

  7. He does. I'm just being jealous. I was talking to an 18 year old a couple of weeks back who was born this century. I've still not recovered from that.

  10. One quick note, the pod is a fair bit longer than we'll usually be aiming for. This is mainly down to what was a busy week and the fact it was our launch edition. Generally we'll try to stay more around the 45min mark.

  11. Foderingham is hit and miss. Too many long range shots go in and he is prone to mistakes.

  12. One thing is for sure,we really need better than foderingham.

  13. No mention of the tackles on Jack & Dorrans which kept Dorrans out for months and Jack still out, yet the Scottish gutter press go wild over this! typical from the Scottish gutter press!

  14. No certainties in any of this that’s for sure mate. We’ll just have to wait and see but of course concentration levels have to be extremely high and reading the game is part of a lengthy learning process. Put it this way it’s no bad thing we have a couple of young keepers getting rave reviews

  15. He is very highly rated, however so is Liam Kelly who I would expect to push for a start before Robbie. RANGERS announced that goalkeeper Liam Kelly was rewarded with a new two year contract in June 2017. The 21 year-old, who came through the youth ranks at Auchenhowie, spent the last season and a half on-loan at East Fife and Livingston respectively, and has impressed boss Pedro Caixinha sufficiently to be rewarded with a new deal. Indeed, having won League Two with the Fifers, he was a near ever-present for Livi last season as they claimed the League One title in some style, while previously he played key roles in penalty shootout wins for Gers youth sides in the 2012 Glasgow Cup and 2014 Youth Cup. Kelly has also represented Scotland at a variety of age groups, most recently the under-21 side. He is yet to make a first-team appearance for Gers but will be a well-known face to supporters having been back-up to Wes Foderingham for the first half of the 2015/16 season. https://rangers.co.uk/teams/first-team/liam-kelly/

  16. We need a new manager, who can command the respect of the dressing room, get the best out of our players, knows how to win things and isn't scared to make decisions. It's that simple.

  19. " NEIL LENNON insists forcing Hibernian to make a third trip to Ibrox would be a disadvantage on and off the park.Lennon’s side have won twice in Govan already this term but could miss out on welcoming the Gers to Easter Road after the top flight split. The SPFL have yet to confirm the schedule but Lennon said: “I’m assuming that because we’re the lowest seeded team we will be going there for the third time. If that does happen it will be a major concern. It will be a major disadvantage.“Not only for our chances of finishing second, but also from a financial point of view as we lose out on a sell-out home crowd, which I think we have earned the right to have. We will just have to cross that bridge when it comes to it.” What a maggot.

  20. Work commitments and a crappy Ipad at home have restricted my comments on Gersnet recently, but another abject performance on Saturday has me rather fed up with our club's direction. I dont blame Murty who is doing the best he can given his complete lack of experience and tactical knowledge, but we simply have to be doing something NOW to prepare for next season. We had good players come in during the January window and we got a wee bounce from that during a successful February, but our lack of any consistency has come back to bite us with 1 point out of 9, now needing to beat Dolly at Pittodrie AGAIN to have any chance of second place. Managerial inexperience has cost us big time in these last few games, as Murty had no clue how to use the man advantage against the tims, and doesnt give enough thought to his bench and changes which are a hugely important part of the game these days. More experienced managers like Rodgers and Clarke took full advantage of these tactical opportunities and both left with full points instead of what could and should have been 2 wins for us. With 7 defeats and 2 draws in 22 league games, Murty cannot possibly be considered for the permanent position, I think at last everyone is in agreement with that, although no doubt if we somehow manage to beat the bheasts in the SF that will be enough for some to clamour for him to be given the job. Being Rangers manager is all about consistency, and failing to beat Dundee, St Johnstone, Motherwell, Kilmarnock, Hibs, Hamilton, 5 home losses, would be enough for us to be howling for a sacking if he was a permanent manager. Instead our rage should be against the men who have allowed this to happen on their watch - the board. After the fiasco of the handling of the "resignation" of Warburton, the shambles of appointing a mate of a mate in Pedro instead of doing a proper diligent appointment search, the board should have acted quickly and decisively to appoint a proper football manager to ensure we didnt lose any more ground on a clearly "there for the taking" bheast side, and instead this sticking plaster over a gaping wound has allowed us to be watching how small the gap is between us and FOURTH place in this 2 team league. For that the board are undeniably guilty and the goodwill from freeing us from our previous custodians is slipping at an alarming rate and they simply have to get this appointment right this time with no more excuses. It has to be a decent name in the game who the fans will get behind with confidence. If it doesnt work out then fair enough, but it can be no more gambles like a Pedro or Murty. The playing squad has been improving with each window since our return to the top flight and this is encouraging, but it will count for nothing if the right man to pull everything together is not found. As for who that is, debate and counter debate continues apace. I would do (again) what I would have done the last twice, ask for applications and go through them properly. Ask our DoF for advice, thats what he is there for. Under no circumstances allow cronyism to creep in. I know Steve Clarke favours the hoops, but he is a professional manager who may never get the chance to manage a club of our size, has done a remarkable job with a side who were relegation certainties in our league before he arrived, and has the right coaching credentials having been number two at two of the biggest clubs in England, a decent stint at WBA, and will have good contacts throughout football. If not him, then certainly nobody with less credentials than him.
