Spot on, it was plastered all across every paper as far as I could see. We really must educate our new players in how the gutter press operates up here, and remind them that we say nothing until we have achieved something. It only gives your opponents increased motivation and adds nothing to our cause, so STFU!!

I enjoyed reading that OP, thanks @JFK-1! I am not quite in the overly optimistic group just yet, quietly hopeful would best sum up my feelings just now and the main reason for that is that, in the last 2 friendlies and the progres game, our old failings of working the ball from side to side and back again, at a pace a packed defence can cope with, gets us nowhere more often than not. We are good at creating half chances, not so good at taking them. We mostly refuse to shoot from distance, which means the defence dont have to rush out to close us down 25 yards out, they can keep their 18 yard line shape solid so there are no gaps to try to slip a pass into, so most of our attacks end up with a wide player throwing a hopeful ball into the middle to be chewed up by the defenders. We are much better in open play when we win the ball high up the pitch before the opponent has the chance to regroup the Alamo along the 18 yard line, and we get most of our goals this way, but against a team like Killie, Livvy, and lets face it about 9 of the 11 opponents we will face domestically, they know fine well they just have to frustrate us and be well organised along the 18 yard line and they will keep our chances to half-chances or crosses. I have seen nothing so far to see that this has changed. We have replaced Kent & Candieas, neither of which made much inroads against such defences, with Jones and Stewart/Ojo and I i'm not sure this is going to change our fortunes much. IMO we still need that master craftsmen who unlocks these defences, can get shots on target from 20-25 yards, and get goals.

Listened live last night and although I missed the first 10 mins it was another good listen. Well done to those involved and keep up the good work. -
Thanks @Gazza_8, although our game was always going to be Sunday as we are playing the Danes on the Thursday night in the second leg of R3.
-
Anyone remember who has tv rights to this tournament and when tv selections might be announced? Think we might be on tv as we are away, which may see our game moved from 3pm on the Sunday to something earlier. I’m assuming we will be playing at Ibrox v the Danes on Thursday 15th so game will def be Sunday anyway. (supposed to be taking wife & her pal to airport that Sunday morning!)

Kent has the same flaws as Candeias had, too often the final ball isn’t good enough, he doesn’t shoot enough, he doesn’t score enough, he doesn’t create enough. The difference is Kent is at the start of his career, not in his 30’s, so would be a re-sellable asset if we bought him. A true value for him in his current level of ability, around the £2M mark, no more. If Liverpool want more, we move on. I have said it dozens of times, we don’t get value for money by buying in the English market, we can only sell to it. Its getting to the stage I hope he signs for some English team just so we can move on from this never-ending story. -

Ojo should have finished that there, one on one with the keeper and fails. However as im typing this the corner comes in and Katic scores a header 1-0 Gers -

Just under 20k at Ibrox today for the 6th home game in 22 days. The game itself is as dull and boring as any I can remember and is undeserving of a goal from either side. A reminder of of why I stopped going to friendlies many years ago. However it it looks like a decent workout and no injuries so it ticks the boxes as to why we arranged it. Its all all about next Sunday at Killie. -

Good to get our money back on Grezda, I agree with SG there is a talent there, sometimes it’s just not the right fit between player and club. Good luck to him in France. -
Rangers in talks over Ibrox capacity increase

Like others, if we are at the stage to discuss this, even before the consultation reports are finished, then it should be on Rangers tv or our own website first and exclusively. For Stewart Robertson to give an interview to the Rhebel shows utter contempt for the feelings of the fans. In my opinion, a sacking offence. -

At least you got a £3 juice. The hottest day of the year and the drinks machine in the Copland rear packs in before half time, leaving a lot of thirsty unhappy Bears at half time, myself included! -

I thought a club might have been there watching Tav, he had a 'mare! -
It looks to me that we believe if we can get away with the cap (which is in the legal contract so should be followed) then it must be our tactic that we know we are going to lose these cases, and end up having to pay £1M to SD for breach of contract, but we should be making much more than that from Elite, so we are ahead over the piece. Given we got about £250K (did we even get paid from SD?) from the previous deal, this must have been seen as the lesser of all the evils.

So it is, thanks @Frankie. I seen an article by Lindsay yesterday on twitter and recognised the name so thought he had the gig. I dont buy the rhag so not up to date completely, but enough to know that Cameron is not Bear-friendly!

But for some wasteful finishing and the ref not knowing the new rules on penalties, the tie would be absolutely done and dusted. However the warning signs were there and on another day we draw 2-2 there as Progres were a much better side than the one 2 years ago with 2/3 really quite decent players that looked every bit as good as ours. I thought Edmundson had a really good first half but he definitely has mistakes in him, as you would expect coming from the level of football he has been used to, and is one for the future, but not this season IMO. Jack has really upped his game this season, gone are the always sideways safe passes and now he is going box to box, looking to move forward with and without the ball, so much better and I hope he keeps it up. Aribo has some lovely touches, but like most flair players of this level, he goes missing for chunks of the game at a time. Similar could be aimed at Ojo, he perhaps contributed for about 10 minutes last night. When he does it is usually positive, but he becomes a spectator at times. Consistency required from both and they will be fine. Cant wait to see Arfield at full steam if he is still 2 weeks behind everyone else! His blindside runs when Morelos drops off and he goes in behind are sublime and if only we had better players who can spot these and play him in more often we would benefit enormously. Some of the quick one-twos and triangular passing in the first half was joyful. Some of the slow, obvious, methodical build up play in the second was tedious. Our subs had no impact last night, Stewart & Jones couldnt get into it and Defoe didnt get any service and with Arfield off we had no link-up between midfield and strikers. Score the first goal over there and its done. Make a mistake and let them score, and the ghosts may well return, which doesnt bear thinking about! I've gone from wanting a proper hiding of this mob to "just get through". Not sure if that says more about us or them but the sentiment is the same. -
It is worth adding that Matthew Lindsay is the Evening times resident Rangers writer, while Neil Cameron follows the bheasts. Why then, does Cameron get the gig of going to our launch, or if he didnt bother even going to it, and he is employed to report on the bheasts, why does he bother to write about us at all? Pure mischief making and hatred to put a negative slant on a Rangers story.

The probably paid half that and Ashley has just let it out there that he paid £40M to get the fans off his back. He doesnt mind lying if it makes him look good. -
So this chunt attends the Everyone Anyone launch and goes to write a piece about this for his failing rhag of a paper, and manages to includes lies about Johnston being the first high-profile RC, including supposed quotes from a RSA official that I do recall from the time or have ever heard of since, confirms we are still a Protestant institution, slags our fans songbook, ridicules our collective politics as being worse than the Nazis, In over 30 years of going to just about every game Rangers play I have never seen a Nazi or any Nazi flags, banners etc, but somehow he says he sees them around all the time. I could go on but I have lost the will to do so with this utter tripe. Suffice to say that we spend a fortune to launch this campaign, invite the journos along, and then the write another negative piece about Rangers fans whcih barely mentions the campaign and tells you nothing about it. Why do we let people like this to have free access to our club?
