Euro QR4 Draw: Legia Warsaw/Atrimitos v FC Midtjylland/Rangers
Tannochsidebear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Has there been any official confirmation of the match date and time for the first leg yet? A lot of guesses out there but I haven't seen any confirmation from the club as yet? -
Watched the Eng v USA SF and the first half hour was fairly decent. Some slick short one-touch passing in midfield by both teams, quick counter-attacks, decent delivery into the boxes and some good finishes as it went to 2-1 USA. However after 30 mins it fell apart and became pretty poor stuff. The second half was of a poor quality, plenty of tension and drama but no real football quality on show. It is a million miles away from being of a similar standard to a mens game.

The Spring & Summer 2019 Transfer Rumours Thread
Tannochsidebear replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Spot on @JohnMc, although it was very frustrating that he failed to learn any tactical options or variable formations, when it worked it was lovely to watch, and a penalty shoot-out win over the bheasts at Hampden will live long in the memory, whcih of course included a screamer from a certain Barrie McKay. -
I wont click on any links to Sun/Record but this sounds interesting. Will be interesting to see if it is just an ex-pat Hibbee buying them, or someone who genuinely thinks they can challenge the OF by throwing some cash about on better players. Could be Hibs now become the 3rd best, they were not that far away even under popcorn-teeth, so I suppose with a good manager (not sure they actually have one ATM) and some investment this could be interesting. On the political side of things, I hope we are getting in touch with the new owner to let them know all about the bheasts dominent position in Scottish football behind the scenes and see if we can have an ally to try to even things up a bit, for the sake of all the other clubs. I know, thats a very long shot.

I have heard some discussions on the radio about the unfair pay gap in womens football to mens football. Apparantly they should be paid the same in world cups. Just nonsense, but I tell you what when the ticket prices are the same and the broadcasters are willing to pay the same money for womens and mens WC rights, then they have a case, but in the free market economy the broadcast rights for the womens WC are a very small fraction of the colossal amounts paid to show the mens WC. And I read an article on BBC that said the ticket prices for womens WC are in some cases 10% of the prices for the mens, with the final being 70-80 euros for women and 700-800 euros last year in russia for men, and for other group games the prices were a fraction of what the mens games would be. The womens cricketers were saying the same, it total nonsense.

It's either Jack or Kamara, and most are going with Kamara as he has looked a better all-round player than Jack to most it would seem. Would you have Jack in front of Kamara @Bill or perhaps you can fit him in somewhere else? Instead of Davis? SG clearly likes Jack a lot so it will be interesting to see if a role can be found to include him in the side. We have a lot of options and this is before we try to find a place for Docherty, Halliday, McCrorie etc.

Swap Barisic for Flanagan and I really like the look of that side. Flanagan is not good enough IMO, and it may be that Barisic isn't either but he looks a better player if he can stay fit and get used to the plastic pitches. I would even play Halliday in front of Flanagan personally. I love the look of that midfield and I think if Aribo is as good as we are hoping then supplying a twin strike force with Arfield running in behind looks really threatening. I would like to see that side given a run in the home games against the park-the-bus sides.

My goodness, a well balanced and fair Rangers-related article in a Scottish newspaper. A rarity. -
You're going to be getting a bill in from the bheasts for using their copyrighted language!

Very insightful! I dont watch that league a lot, but when I do see a game, the defending is woeful, the long ball game is used often, the finishing is poor, and it is all 100 mph in midfield. Not what I want to watch.

Cheers Craig. As I said I support all the new players in the stadiums and wish them nothing but the best, the scepticism is reserved for on here where it belongs! It is a huge jump up though.

Dont think your quote import has quite worked but I get the message on this, but the content is hilarious so thanks for sharing! Methinks they woke up and realised spending this type of cash on a Motherwell player was stupidity and found a way out.

Yes, he looks better than he has been for years and hopefully his health issues are all well behind him now.

Never heard of this guy but I tend to try to avoid watching the English Championship as you rarely see good football being played there, so I am a little uninspired by another signing from obscurity. I like what SG has to say about him though, and like with everyone will get my full support and hope they turn out to be better than their CV would suggest. The positives are he is the right age, the right price, and with good potential to improve and be a sellable asset in a year or two if he does well. he also played a lot of games and returned a decent goals ratio. Creativity is what we badly lacked last year, so if this guy can do what SG says he can do on a consistent basis, that will improve our side. The negative is he is coming from a poor side in a vastly overpriced and overrated league, where the pressure he will have been under is a million miles away from what he will find with us. If he has one good game in 3 at Charlton he could win POTY, at Rangers he will be slaughtered. That step up is difficult for someone who has not played at any decent level or under any pressure to win things. However if Aribo is to play wide left (therefore replacing Kent) and contributes a similar goals tally (with assists on top) as he did last year at Charlton, that will be an improvement on Kent, so will improve our points tally. Just got to back the manager and scouting staff and hope these key signings pay off. Still to get our marquee signing to get the fans excited, so hopefully still a quality player to come in. Edit: Just realised the stats for Aribo last season were not even in the Championship, but League 1 where they finished 3rd but got promoted via playoffs. That is a massive difference and an even bigger gamble than I had thought. Just like Edmundson who has come from League 2, there must be better players across Europe who have played at a higher level than this pub football level in England. Very sceptical!

Ryan Jack abused by Aberdeen yobs at racecourse
Tannochsidebear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Funny how the sun is quite happy to call these yobs out as Dons fans, but when it is tims doing something bad it changes to "football fans"? Were they wearing Aberdeen tops? How can we be sure the offending yobs were Dolly supporters and not the usual tims? The de-humanisation of our club , staff, players etc over the last few years has meant that our players are not seen as human beings to our enemies, but as sub-human and therefore fair game for abuse, whether that be verbal or physical, and either at the game or elsewhere. -

Although I’m worried by signing a player from this level, I am putting faith in our people who have been scouting, analysing and looking in great detail into our targets these days, and I believe they have got more right than wrong. Time will tell. -

Good luck to the new defender. However the jump from the 4th league of English football to the pressure of playing for Rangers is absolutely huge, and I can only expect he is here as cover for Katic, and we are looking for another CH as our first choice cover with Edmundson as 4th choice CH. Worrell was totally out of his depth with us (just my opinion, I know some bears liked him) and he came from the English Championship, two leagues above where this guy has been playing. I will admit that worries me greatly. -
Oxford - why? Marseilles - paying the cheats who robbed us of a Champions League final place? Disgusting! Blackburn - meh Thankfully I didn’t tick the box to get these automatically, really angry we are playing the Froggy cheats. Shows a total lack of understanding of our history which is hugely disappointing.
