I’m really struggling to think of any, Robert Fleck perhaps?
-
Doubt it, any time you read players talking about this, they tend to be easily led, and they all read the papers, hence why I think my suggestion is close to the mark.
-
Had forgotten all about him. Hopefully he has been noticed at Bury and we can get £2M for him, which is small change for a Championship club down there. He has no future here IMO, we already have much better options and are looking to strengthen.

Willie was last seen blindly ignoring a stick-on penalty for Kilmarnock at the piggery just last weekend, thus ensuring his beloved hoops get the 3 points. he may not be able to negatively influence our games any more after being caught cheating, but he can still positively affect the bheasts games with not a peep of debate about it.

I may be thinking of the writers award! However the players award is still highly influenced by the mhedia, given players are among the few that still buy tabloid newspapers regularly.

Defoe starts (if fit) and Morelos replaces him after an hour. I think we will be told pre-match that Defoe has a slightly tight muscle injury and Morelos starts with Defoe on the bench, thus making it an injury-led decision and not a management one. SG should also take into consideration who the referee is. If it is one of the well-known "haters" then leave Morelos out the action. I would do the same next week against the bheasts.

The annual laughing stock that is the POTY voting. This lost the very last of its credibility in 2005 when they gave it as a joint award between Ricksen and Hartson, when neither would have made the top 5 of each teams best players that season. Celtic had many players who had better seasons than Hartson, and Ricksen had a few decent games for us but was miles behind others for best Rangers player. Since 2005, the list of winners has been laughable, yet it is still taken seriously as a proper award and a reflection of the season about to end. For Kent to make the top 4 players in Scotland is obscene, he wouldnt be in my top 4 for Rangers POTY (McGregor, Morelos, Goldson, Tavernier are by miles and miles the top 4 players for us this season), so how the Liverpool loanee made it onto this list is a strange one. I wont comment on the two bheasts nominated as I dont watch a lot of their games, but if Forrest is the best they have got we should hang our heads in shame that we didnt beat them to the title. McGregor has had a good season from what I hear from mates who follow them and is a fair shout.

Who needs friends eh? Ian McCall doesnt deserve the right to comment on the top flight POTY nominations, an absolute nobody.

The Spring & Summer 2019 Transfer Rumours Thread
Tannochsidebear replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Am I the only one who is far from impressed with the targets/acquired players so far. Jordan Jones and Jake Hastie are bang-average SPFL players who will not improve our first 11, and are not any better than the current options in the squad. Having watched both closely when we have played them in 2019, Jones is just another O'Halloran, only effective on the counter attack which is something we dont get to do very often. He will be a total waste of a wage IMO. Hastie looks young, raw and miles away from being a good player for us for 19-20 season. He had the luxury of being up against our weakest left back, and didnt impress at Fir Park, having2 excellent chances and couldnt even hit the target with either. No better than any of our young fringe players IMO and I hope we loan him out somewhere either at Scot Prem or Eng league 1 to educate him. Greg Stewart is a very poor player IMO, and I am hoping we miss out on this one. I dont see where he fits into our current playing formation, and we have better options in this area than this for what will be sizeable wages. Yes, I know we have cash restrictions, but I dont see the point in bringing in players that are no better than current options. We must improve our first 11, bring in a left back, a good centre half, an attacking midfielder, and a striker who can play in our system and score goals, and replace any players who leave that are first team regulars (Morelos, Tav etc). We have wasted so much cash on squad players who dont contribute, we have a fantastic set of youth players, use them when the first 11 gets injuries/suspensions. -
I was impressed with our patient passing performance yesterday. Aberdeen brought their usual anti-football game with them, and had we not been so wasteful and Lewis not on top form (watch next weekend for polar view) we could have easily been 3 up at the break. Second half we got a reward we deserved, and even better when McInnes doesnt like it. Had it not been for another 2 point swing with the blatant penalty Killie were denied at the scumhut, we could possibly still be in this. Of course, had the referees got 2 decisions in 2 games at Easter Road right amongst others, we would be celebrating 55 by now.

Our club has to challenge this, out it in media releases, complain to the SPFL about the clear bias of their broadcast partners and demand they do something about it, like if they dont act in an unbiased manner they will not get their contract renewed.

Should this not be in a techy forum or something, I havent understood a single word of this thread!

City now 2-0 up on United with 20 mins remaining in what has been a decent game. With Arsenal 3-1 down at Wolves, it looks like both the title race, and the money chase for 3rd/4th are going to go right to the wire. I don’t have an English team I follow, I tend to follow teams that play good football which for me is Man City & Spurs. Liverpool can play some good stuff at times too but I find it hard to like them under Klopp and their nauseating fans. So im hoping for a City title, Spurs to make top 4, and I’m not really bothered which of the other 3 get the CL spot. With the CL winners and Europa winners both getting CL spots, if Spurs win CL but come 5th, Chelsea win Europa but come 6th, who represents England in the CL next year?

As one who remembers McNeill only as Billy McBungle from his second spell as manager, I won’t be joining in with the faux praise of what a legend he was. Absolutely disgusting that this horrible disease took an otherwise fit man away from his family and I wish his family comfort as they come to terms with their loss, and what must have been a horrible to watch decline in his health as it took a hold on his life. Like all big names in our society, their death creates this industry of mourning, endless tributes, and over the top praise. It is truly nauseating and I have been trying hard to avoid all this endless guff over the last few days. I was at the funeral of a good friend’s wife last week, with 3 fantastic memorial speeches from her daughter, brother and nephew at a packed out crematorium. No news items, no scarves at the statues, but as big a loss to her family as McNeill’s loss will be to his. IMO we should be far more respectful of the dead and not turn it into this circus it has become.

The Rhebel was also more than happy to do Jack Irvine’s bidding during that time, and there were far more negative, false or misleading stories than correct ones. Even if if that were true of back then, the commercial agreement between CFC and the Rhebel signed since, coupled with the editorial policy of Rangers - bad, tims - good, should mean that particular publication, ran by and for tims, should NEVER be used by our players, officials, Directors or even ex-directors.
-
As usual Paul Murray is out of touch with ordinary Bears if he thinks it is acceptable to give an interview to the one paper above all others that constantly do us down, highlight our players failings, promote our rivals, talk up our rivals players, and basically shite on everything to do with our club and its fans. There are plenty of ways to get this out there, not that he actually says anything new or of interest, than use the Rhebel.

Even bigger bargain than I remembered then!
-
Was Rod a free transfer? I had it in my mind he cost around £1M. It was a small price given the outlays on some players that summer when DA was rebuilding, but I didnt think it was a freebie?
-
Well this was a major disappointment wasn't it! 24 points out of 36, and our title challenge is over, partly because the tims done what we couldnt and push on after the break and window. (Well done to @BEARGERwho got the 24 points spot on!!) 7 victories were all impressive, scoring 26 goals and conceding 2, but we couldnt win any of the games that were close, the 3 draws with St Johnstone, Hibs and Kilmarnock all being very frustrating and you simply have to be picking up those points, as well as the simply awful defeat at Rugby park first game back, and the hurtful way we lost in the OF game. Could have/ would have/ should have. A hugely missed opportunity. Not that it matters, but to finish the season off lets see what we think for the final 5. Given the inconsistent season, I will go for 3 wins a draw and a defeat for 10 points. What say you, bears?

The Spring & Summer 2019 Transfer Rumours Thread

I normally ignore rumours from the papers/websites but in this case I hope this to be true. -
Following on from @JohnMc suggestion in the fave 11 thread, I couldnt resist this one to fill the empty weekend discussion. The following is my most frustrating X1, not the worst players to have played regularly for us, but the ones I just didnt take to and didnt rate as highly as some of my fellow Bears, or was really disappointed in. I dont meant to do any of these honourable servants a disservice, its just a bit of fun and a discussion point. I have also made a deliberate point of avoiding current players (hard as that was!) Alexander Ricksen McPherson Jig Stensaas Templeton Black Barton Huistra Miller Boyd(2nd stint) Again, I have probably forgotten (mind blocked out more likely) some players I really didnt get, and look forward to reading my fellow Gersnetters lists over the next few days.

Thats a 7-5-7 formation @Rousseau! That team would score a lot of goals and get a lot of clean sheets! Good shout with Reyna, a lovely player often underrated.

Holt returns to Rangers following season ending injury

100% agree with all of that DB, spot on!
