The Summer 2018 Transfer Window Rumours and Deals

If that is not bringing the club into disrepute and gross misconduct then I dont know what is! -
The Summer 2018 Transfer Window Rumours and Deals
Tannochsidebear replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Yes, but as Frankie pointed out, his wife-beating occurred while he was with us. I was one of only a few that said we should have sacked him immediately for it. Absolutely zero tolerence for this type of stuff. -
The Summer 2018 Transfer Window Rumours and Deals
Tannochsidebear replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
From what I have read in this thread about this lad Flanagan, a 25 year old full back who hasnt established himself anywhere yet, is injury prone, and has been found guilty of assaulting his partner, I surely am not the only one who would want absolutely nothing to do with him. For assaulting a woman alone, he should never be allowed to sign for our club. For all we talk about our proud history and tradition, we must surely avoid signing players with a criminal record of this kind. Bill Struth will be turning in his grave at the very thought of signing someone like this. -

One of the scottish rhags was hinting that the total "could" go as high as £9M, but the initial fee is around £6M. Of course that will be dependant on the number of full caps he wins, games played in CL, etc, so probably just going to cost £6M. Taking into account PSG must sell £60M of players this summer to avoid being transfer banned under FFP, they will be quite happy to have this figure being reported as highly as possible as well as the bheasts. It has been the same for the bheasts since the Fergus bunnet days when he used to include the wages and bonuses over the 3 or 4 year contract in the number released. he would say a player was signed in a £5M deal, when in actual fact the fee was £1.5M with the rest being wages and bonuses over 4 years. I would love for them to have blown £9M on this player who is injury prone and doesnt feature ahead of Dembele or Griffiths. Makes our chances of catching them a lot easier.

That Messi is pish eh! That has to be one of the worst penalties I have ever seen at this level. For a player who can put the ball just about anywhere, that was goddam awful. He totally bottled it. He can never be regarded as the best ever if he continues to bottle it on the biggest stage. And yes, I did have a bet on a penalty to be scored in the match!

SPL fixtures 2018/19; Aberdeen v Rangers first game
Tannochsidebear replied to JFK-1's topic in Rangers Chat
The seedings are worked out on the previous years standings. Therefore if the top 6 is the same as last year, (tims, us, dolly, hibs, hearts, killie) then we will play everyone in the top 6 at home and away evenly. The only problems arise when a team from outside the top 6 the year before make the top 6 and the pattern cant be followed. -
Yes, its a great thing. It is now up to the club to ensure they can provide matchday goods and services to ensure cashflow keeps ticking over with the lack of matchday tickets to sell. A better quality and choice of food and drinks, a wider range of merchandise and also pop-up stalls around the ground as the superstore is always jammed full. It may also have a good knock on effect on any cup ties we get at home with a larger number of ST's hopefully this means a larger number have signed up to all home cup-ties and we can get higher attendances in these games as well.

SPL fixtures 2018/19; Aberdeen v Rangers first game
Tannochsidebear replied to JFK-1's topic in Rangers Chat
For as far back as I can remember (mid-eighties), the Champions have their first game at home to unfurl the league flag won in the previous campaign. When this is one of the OF, this also means that the other half starts with an away game. This will almost certainly be the case again this season as I can see no reason for this to change. We will be away for the first league game of 18/19, absolutely guaranteed. The only way this would be otherwise is if the bheasts have specifically asked to be away on the first weekend due to them wanting to fit in a friendly somewhere else. -
Official: Rangers sign Connor Goldson on a 4 year deal
Tannochsidebear replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
I must have missed this being announced yesterday. Looks a decent signing. Must admit I dont know much about him and cant remember if I seen him play on the few occasions I watched a Brighton game last season. Im not a fan of the prices you have to pay to pick up English talent and believe you can get better palyers for less money abroad, but what is clear is there has been a lot of work done by the DoF, incoming manager and Directors at the club to ensure we have a lot of our players bought in time for pre-season. The emphasis is obviously to ensure we have no repeat of Progres, and to give us (with a lucky draw) an outside chance to get to the Europa group stage, all before we really start our league campaign in earnest. Obviously we have to wait and see who fits in, who goes, what system is used etc, but at least we cant claim we havent given this a really good go and backed the new manager with a lot of cash. Well done to the DoF and the money-men at the club so far. -

Zak Rudden putting in the hours to catch Steven Gerrard's eye
Tannochsidebear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
What a great attitude and ambition from Rudden. For a 18 year old to say he thinks he is good enough to put pressure on for a first team place is outstanding. Add to that he knows how important it is for him to knuckle down and put the work in, and that he has been doing that all summer, is very encouraging. I have never seen him play so I dont know much about him other than in youth reports, but I like what I hear. Good luck to the lad. -
Great to see these touch-ups going on to make our beautiful stadium look as good as it can after a decade of neglect. We cant do everything at once, but these little things make a big visible difference for supporters on matchdays and gives everyone a wee lift to see things looking better.

The Summer 2018 Transfer Window Rumours and Deals
Tannochsidebear replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
You can guarantee that the scummy mhedia here will be all over this perceived diving before he has even played a minute of football for us, and therefore will be getting yellow carded for diving for any foul committed against him. If someone has that type of reputation, we cannot afford to bring him to our club due to the state/bias of our referees. Its the same as signing Ryan Jack - the perceived hardman - who has had 3 or 4 red cards in a handful of games for us. The fact most were rescinded doesnt matter, it cost us points. -
The Summer 2018 Transfer Window Rumours and Deals
Tannochsidebear replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
I find it hilarious the way the likes of the Rhebel and the Scum get away with making up utter pish and then turning round and saying we missed out on players that only in their heads were we interested in in the first place. Day 1 - Rangers interested in signing foreign Player X Day 2 - Rangers told to improve bid/step up interest Day 3 - Looks like Rangers are going to get their man Day 4 - Rangers fail to sign their man, it was too expensive. Repeat every week with a different name. I only start getting interested in a story linking us with a player when they arrive for a medical, or when an official announcement comes from us or the selling club that talks are ongoing. All the rest is how they try to sell their rags during the close season. -
I'm in, sounds like a bit of fun. Unlike gifs which are just stupid. (anything I dont know how to do is automatically called stupid to deflect from my own technological stupidity!)

This law has been in force for years, but in recent years has not been enforced under police guidance. If we got a cup draw at the piggery we would be entitled to 12,000 tickets (20%) and the mhanks would get 10500 for Ibrox, but the Police say they are to get the normal league amounts as that is easier to handle from their perspective, and the clubs have always accepted this. It would be interesting if there is a OF cup draw before the SF stage where the two clubs and the police would have to come up with a number for the away team. Essentially once we have sold the ST, and if enough fans tick the box for home cup games, we would have to argue that the tims only get their usual league game amount (800) in the corner.

I understand these friendlies were contractual obligation from player purchases in the Warburton era. Havent a clue who we bought from either club but we have to honour our agreements. I hate friendlies and have long since stopped paying money to watch them. They really tell you nothing about anything. I just want to hear that nobody got injured, I dont care about the score or scorers.I appreciate they are an essential part of getting players fit for the new season, but IMO they should all be closed doors or £5 to charity donation games and not money making exercises that fleece the fans and never offer value for money, with the usual revolving door of subs in the second half. Bury wont be anywhere near our level of fitness, so its a total waste of time. Given the Gerrard effect I am fairly sure there will be an incredible attendance (perhaps as much as 30K) as our supporters yet again back our club with hard cash, so its entirely understandable from a financial perspective why this goes ahead, but I'll be waiting until July 12 to see our season 18-19 debut.

He most certainly is worth a mention as a former Rangers player. Another one of these good honest pros that Souness had a habit of bringing in to fill a gap for a few months when we had injuries, who came in, done a smashing job, and went on his way again. We wouldnt have capitulated in the two OF games with a few players of the mindset of Neale Cooper in the team. I wish him all the best in his fight and hope he goes on to make a full recovery.

Ramos is one of the best defenders in world football and has been for some time. The fact he can also rough it up often means his quality is overlooked. How some can say he meant to injure Salah is laughable sour grapes. At full speed there is nothing in that at all and 99 times out of 100 both players just get up and get on with the game after that type of collision. It's just really bad luck that the way he fell he has put his shoulder out. The first half was pretty dull I thought with one shot on target in 45 minutes as both teams cancelled each other out with high fast pressing games so neither could get any time on the ball to build anything. Of course the second half was excellent as the first keeper flanger opened the game up and both sides threw more at the other while not being able to press as successfully as they did in the first. Bale's wonder goal was incredible technique and ability, just sensational and on the biggest stage of all when Ronaldo and Salah were getting all the pre-game attention, Bale as usual let his football do the talking. One of the best players in the world for me, he has it all perhaps apart from that swagger and arrogance that the truly top players have. Liverpool have never sorted out their defence and won't win anything until they do. Robertson was the only defender that looks top class to me. That boy has really kicked on and you can see how hard he is working on his game to keep improving. Hilarious that Timmy thinks Tierney is anywhere near as good, he's not on the same planet as Robertson. 3IAR of the big jug wins for Real Madrid despite fairly poor league form is incredible. That's a better return than Pep's fantastic Barca side managed. Nobody would say this looks like the best club side in 40 years but their achievement argues that they are.

O'Halloran pictured amongst Celtic fans at Hampden
Tannochsidebear replied to Gonzo79's topic in Rangers Chat
I’ve not said anything was factual - it’s all just my opinion based not on stats but what I see live in front of me. For all the things you say he is he couldn’t get a run of games in a Celtic team not exactly overflowing with quality in his position. I think (note -opinion, not fact!) he is way below the standard we need. I’m glad we missed out first time round and he has gone backwards since. Not all players that look good at a wee diddy club like Hibs can make the step up to the pressure of playing for us or the bheasts. I’m sure our DOF and new manager can find better without having to look too hard. -

Spare a thought for Michael O'Halloran, he might not get a ticket for the next OF game now! (Shamelessly stolen from Ian Duff on Twitter)
