Latest share offer news from LSE (Grim, grim stuff)
Zappa replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Not getting out of hand is much appreciated, but not agreeing with Rab has absolutely nothing to do with it and neither do any sort of Board vs Ally perceptions because the Admin & Mod team here have been extremely critical of Ally ourselves in forum posts, articles and match previews and we've also been happy to publish much more critical views of the manager from anyone else on the forum when you've offered them up as articles or match previews. Once again, Let's get back on topic please. -

Thanks for the moderation efforts, but let's try to stick to the topic please. -
Fair play to Ally for that one and the press in attendance should have known that he was taught by the master of walking out of pressers!

You say this shortly after saying to someone on the other thread "Spare me the DK nonsense" ?? How about you spare everyone your own Dave King nonsense?

None of those headlines are stating a worst case scenario though, are they? The mention of a 'possible' second administration might sound like scaremongering to you, but to some of us it doesn't even come as a surprise. Personally, I was seriously worried about the Club's future long before any of this new share issue news came out and while not wanting to start any sort of panic (so trying to appear to be calm), I couldn't help myself and had to say a day or two ago that I was seriously worried. Not because of any so-called 'sources' or anything either btw! Pure gut instinct! The bottom line (without any 'scaremongering') is that the Club is yet again literally approaching a cliff edge because the company ITSELF has clearly stated to the stock exchange that it doesn't have enough money to continue to trade beyond the end of this calender year (31 December) without a new cash injection of about £3 million pounds and that the full £3.6m (estimated net) raised from a fully subscribed share issue would only see us into the new year (Jan or Feb at best I'd imagine). Now take into account that the company generally won't want to panic investors and fans (in that order btw!) and it's quite fair to say that we have a very bad situation here. -

There's no doubt we're in trouble again, but I'm not so sure that nobody wants to invest. What does interest me though, is that IF they've contacted Dave King about this share offer/issue, then surely he must be a current shareholder? -
They could have tried to convince the major shareholders that the company taking a large cash injection from Dave King for a controlling interest via newly issued shares was in the best interests of the company from stability & longevity viewpoints and that if they backed the decision via an EGM and related resolutions, that their shares would be massively diluted, but almost certain to rocket back up in value while securing the company (and Club's) future.

They would try to borrow more money and if nobody was willing to lend it they would probably put the company into administration. -
They make plenty cash and they spend plenty cash buying some of the World's best players and paying their insane salaries. They have massive amounts of debt (hundreds of millions) and would probably have went bankrupt if the Spanish government & taxman hadn't written off vast amounts of tax debt.

Latest share offer news from LSE (Grim, grim stuff)

No surprise they refused. The financials will be utterly dismal, possibly even worse than we're thinking. The fact that they need to raise at least £3.6m just to pay off two small loans and keep the lights on till Xmas says it all. -
They've been lucky to avoid the big guns, but I can still see them struggling in that group. The bottom seeded team FC Astra is one of the best clubs in Romania. They were runners-up to Steaua in the league last season, but beat Steaua in the Romanian Cup final and the Romanian Super Cup to lift both pieces of silverware. By now you might be laughing and thinking "Romania? WTF?" but these Romanian teams are no push over by any means (as we've found our ourselves before). Oh aye, and the very same Romanian 'pub team' (as some will no doubt claim they are) Astra, just happen to have dumped out Lyon in the previous round. The 3rd seeded team in the group, Dinamo Zagreb have won the Croatian top flight title for the past 9 seasons in a row and won about 10 domestic cups in the past decade, so Celtic will probably get a lesson in how to play football off of them. The top seeds, Salzburg are a very good team too. Austrian champions and capable of beating almost any club despite having been dumped out of the CL by that so-called pub team Malmo.

Yes, by the GreenCo/BPH/Easdale block!

We should find out in about 3 weeks time exactly who has purchased what. If he exorcises his rights, then Ashley's basic entitlement to just over 900,000 new shares would take his total number of shares up to just under 4 million. If he ends up with significantly more than that, we'll find out.

The company categorically stated in one of it's announcements today "The Open Offer is not underwritten."
-
Maybe there are, but there's possibly even more who aren't! The biggest clubs invariably spend MASSIVE amounts of cash buying in young talent these days, only to not give all of these expensive young signings a proper chance in their 1st team. Here's an interesting article published yesterday about Chelsea which I would heavily wager also applies to many of the other top clubs across Europe: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2179167-marco-van-ginkel-highlights-the-failings-of-chelseas-youth-policy

Looks like they're forecasting costs of about £370k, but I don't trust their forecasts any more. -

Doesn't look like the market were overly impressed with news of this open offer today. Share price down by about 3% and most offers are at around 23p. -

Open Offer Statistics: -
The fact that Falkirk can potentially take in £2 million on three players we released is obviously a bit galling, but I honestly think it's just the unfortunate reality at a big club like ours. Falkirk are only getting good money for an 18 year old like McGrandles because they were in a position to give him a lot of valuable first team experience (66 games in the Championship) at a very young age. It's also worth noting the Gary Holt connection to this deal and asking ourselves whether it would have happened at all if Gary Holt hadn't managed the lad for over a year at Falkirk.
-
I agree with a lot of what you're saying TB, but we need to deal in the reality of the here and now, not in ifs or what ifs. The reality is that almost 20 million shares are set to be issued on top of the 65.8 million already issued, so that will be approximately 85.8 million shares. If 30,000 fans each gave Rangers First a tenner tomorrow that would raise £300,000 which would only be enough to buy 1.5 million of the 20 million new shares. There isn't any way to buy a large number of these new shares via a tenner a month direct debit. Regarding similar schemes run by smaller clubs, they are often run by the clubs themselves and by people running the clubs who are trusted fans of the club, not by independent fan groups or organisations. At the very least, I'm pretty sure that most of the successful trust & society schemes at smaller clubs will actually be endorsed by the club, if not run by it.

I agree that something needs to be done, but I'm not convinced in any way that buying shares in this current holding company is a sensible course of action when it could potentially be put into administration before Xmas. For the fans who bought in at the IPO it was a very risky investment and for most it was probably done as an emotional investment, but the risks have grown considerably and at this stage it would be madness unless we could collectively acquire a controlling interest, but that simply isn't possible without the financial backing of a big hitter like Dave King or someone of similar wealth.

Sorry to be negative (and it's not that I have anything against RF!), but with today's share offer news and the worrying financial realities it highlights at the club, I wouldn't touch shares in RIFC plc with a bargepole!
