  1. Youths Lose At Beith Report on today's game http://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2014/07/19/youths-lose-at-beith/
  2. He was No7, an Aussie Trialist, No.9 was also a Trialist but I know nothing about him, as was No.10 (Andrew Barrowman) who is a 16yo from US. Sometimes I can find out the names of trialists and sometimes I can't.
  3. Report on tonight's 17's game http://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2014/07/17/comfortable-win-for-17s/
  4. I'll try and make it this time, it clashed with my father-in-laws 90th birthday last year.
  5. Early days first game, they will play against better teams than Airdrie. Tom Walsh and Scott Roberts haven't started pre-season, Jamie Burrows was also missing.
  6. Youth Open Pre-Season With A Win Report on tonight's U20 friendly http://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2014/07/15/youth-open-pre-season-with-a-win/
  7. Sinky can choose what he says to justify his existence to quote "When you see them at under-20s against Dundee United's kids and all others they are better, or at least no worse." I was at the last U20 game between the sides and Rangers only just scraped a 1-0 win. http://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2014/03/11/early-goal-secures-points/ A look at the lineups on that day gives a truer picture. Rangers:- Scott Gallagher (24); Craig Halkett (18), Chris Hegarty (21), Luca Gasparotto (18), Ryan Sinnamon (17); Dylan Dykes (17), Charlie Telfer (18), Kyle Hutton (23) , Robbie Crawford (20), Danny Stoney (17); Callum Gallagher(19) Subs Ryan Finnie (19), Kris Gibson (18). Dundee United:- Joe McGovern (20); Euan Sparks (17), Cammy Ballantyne (16), Adam Harwood (19), Chris McLaughlin (18) ; Brad Smith (16), Scott Smith (18), Scott Fraser (18), Aidan Connolly (18); Jamie Montgomery (18); Jordan Allan (19) SUBS Reghan Tumilty (17), Harry Souttar (16), In addition to this Dundee United had the following U20 players out on loan, a few who played against Rangers in League 1. Jordan Moore (20 at Dunfermline), Darren Petrie (18 at Brechin), Ross Gilmour (18 at Airdire), Ryan Ferguson (20) at Dunfermline). As you can see Rangers used the full compliment of over age players. Dundee united's team were all under 20, Joe McGovern turned 20 in the early part of this year, so in football terms is under 20. Dundee United used four Under17's players, even including unused subs we had none in the squad. Not ONE U17 player started a game in the U20 league last season. There is a perception among some supporters that Rangers young players play against older opponents, it reality it is usually the opposite.
  8. You really have to understand the state of the Serbian economy to realise that Partizan are unlikely to hold on to their better players for very long, but they are selling teenagers for millions. They have pretty much dominated the Serbian league, Red Star pipped them by a point this season, which prevented Partizan completing seven in a row. they have also been cup winners on three occasions during that period.
  9. A look at Europe's "second best" youth academy and how we can learn from it http://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2014/07/08/fk-partizan-belgrade-youth-school/
  10. All of this of course is just my personal opinions and having watched Charlie for a number of years I would wish him all the best in his future career. It is disappointing he didn't get the chance at Rangers, and the style of play the team was asked to play on occasions was not a game he was suited to. Where as he isn't the next Messi I do believe Charlie has a chance of making the grade at a decent level. With the level of football we have been playing at in the last two years quite a few players in the u20's deserved an opportunity in the first team. Under 20's is a world away from first team football but until players get an opportunity to play in the first team their ability to take that step will remain an unknown. In terms of his counterparts in the U20's Charlie is up there, but If pushed to put players in some sort of order I personally would put Tom Walsh and Ryan Sinnamon at the head of the queue. Tom has had a horrendous season with injury and has hardly played, while Ryan has played the season at left-back rather than on his natural right side, this is due to the U20's not having a naturally left sided player on the squad. (U15's don't have a left sided player either). Charlie was never a Sinky type of player and a couple of years ago wasn't really a first pick in his age group, Mark Wotte heaped praise on him when he was selected for Scotland youth squads and things changed. I believe Rangers "forgot" his contract was ending, the club really should be taken to task on that and an explanation on why this happened and what has been done to stop it happening again. This would likely come out should the fee go to a tribunal, he only got an offer from Rangers after he had received one from Dundee United. The 50-60k that we are will get is a significant figure for Dundee United and not something they would pay lightly, this is an indication of how highly they rate him. We now have lost three highly rated players in three seasons who have chosen to continue their career elsewhere, if this doesn't set alarm bells ringing then I don;t know what would. The question I'm asking is who will it be next season ?

  19. I believe lack of opportunity, broken promises and the style of football he was expected to play were all contributing factors. Rangers "forgot" his contract was up and only offered him one after the event. From what I gather his contract had actually finished, he has trained with Dundee United and had to sign a short term contract to allow him to complete the season. He may not be the next Messi, but in my opinion he does have a chance. If this doesn't set alarm bells ringing then I don't know what will.
