  1. So you haven't seen the U 20's but you know Durie is doing a great job. Wolves are clear in League 1, I'm sure their website says Kenny Jacket is doing wonderful, but as I haven't seen them I won't comment. The League table doesn't lie, but sometimes its worth looking behind it. The better Under 20 players are generally in and around their first team or farmed out on loan for experience. FirstlyI hope Rangers win this league, but actually it means feck all. Its supposed to be about development, but is it a youth league ? Take the last game against Hearts, Rangers fielded Ross Perry, Chris Hegarty and Andy Little, if reports are to be believed two will not have their contracts renewed, while the other is not quoted in terms of first team. Meanwhile Dylan Dykes, Darren Ramsay, Scott Roberts are unused subs, Jamie Burrows got 15 minutes and Greg Pascazio got ONE. This was against a Hearts Under 18 side !! Generally Rangers use the overage quota, the better performances have come in the youth cup where no overage players are allowed. As I said the better under 20 players don't play very often in this league, circumstances meant Hearts and Dunfermline had 6 or 7 in this bracket, other clubs have three or four near the first team. so the Under 20 league is hardly a priority. Its no coincidence that Dunfermline's results picked up after they signed a few experienced players in January, this allowed their better youth players to drop into the Under 20 League. Dundee United have FIVE Under 20 players out on loan, four of them having played against Rangers in League One, Aberdeen have three out on loan, all who have played against us in League One. It looks like the league will go down to a decider against Celtic, what will their team be ? The following Under 20 players will be unavailable to them. Joe Chalmers (Falkirk), Paul George (Hamilton Accies), Stuart Findlay (Morton), Lewis Kidd (Queen Of The South), Michael Miller (Dumbarton), all on loan at Championship clubs. I'm not fan of this "youth League", at least when it was under 18 the clubs generally played the strongest possible team at that age group.
  2. My report on tonight's game http://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2014/04/28/youngsters-lose-out-in-glasgow-cup-final-2/ Seen the Under 20's have you ? In that case you will know how seriously the clubs take this league
  3. Good news, I'm assuming his brother Ross signed on too.
  4. Report on tonight's game Hearts fielded and Under 18 side tonight, their line up will be very different for the final http://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2014/04/25/youths-move-up-to-second/

  6. There can be four over age players in each team. The goalkeeper and two out field players can be any age, a fourth player can be under 23. Kilmarnock had goalkeeper Antonio Reguero, James Fowler, William Gros and Ross Davidson. It varies from club to club and game to game which overage players play, Dundee United and Celtic have let quite a few eligible players go out on loan, Dunfermline and Hearts have quite a few involved at 1st team level. I will also be there on Friday, with Hearts playing Hibs on Sunday I would imagine Hearts will be fielding a young team.

  8. With a lot of the games being midweek afternoons I have only made it to around half of them, and most of the better performances have come in the true U20 games (i.e. youth cup) where no over age players are allowed. I wouldn't say any player dropping into the side as a over age player has stood out. Callum Gallagher has been very consistent and has deserved his chance, as I have said before nobody works harder at his game than Callum. The level we are at any of the players should be able to come in and not look out of place. A few like Tom Walsh, Jamie Burrows, Darren Ramsay, Scott Roberts have had injury hit seasons. The obvious one like Charlie Telfer, Craig Halkett, Andy Murdoch and Luca Gasparotto may get a chance. I'm a big fan of Ryan Sinnamon and its a shame he has had to play left-back all season rather than his more natural right-back and Darren Ramsay has performed at a very high standard when fit this season.

  16. A nonsense its closed door, at the least the parents are allowed in these days. Up to four over age players allowed in each team, two outfield and keeper, a further outfield player can be Under 21.

  19. Celtic were pushing for this weeks ago, probably due to the Green Brigade being out of control. Rangers resisted and announced the home game was going to be at Ibrox. Looks like the dark side have prevailed again.
