  1. Wonder how long our guys hold the ball before passing?
  2. One of the big problems that they have is that all last season and for the most part this season as well, they are stuck with the player contracts that were negotiated under GreenCo. Then there are the other so called "onerous contracts". Stadium maintenance and other costs will not have changed and if anything gone up. So it is not clear to me where they can or will cut costs in the short/medium term.
  3. If you mean just being there, I think it is only 2 or 3 years off; if you mean being competitive enough to even reach group stages, I'd say you may not be far wrong, 5-10 years perhaps, hopefully in my lifetime.
  4. We will be back in the SPL next season or we will have a new manager; it might actually be preferable not to get promoted if it means Ally gets his P45. We should be back in Europe in 2016/17 or the season after depending on the above and the accounts. It could possibly be next season if we were to win the SC and get the dispensation.
  5. Aird is capable of making a barrow load of goals for him.
  6. Welcome. Going to Derby? Looks like an interesting disease if your avatar is anything to go by.
  7. To Shoredbear, Anchorman, Gunslinger etc. I did say that everything in the garden is far from rosy; I do not have my head buried in the sand or anywhere else for that matter. Am I happy with our current standing in Scotland, Europe or the world of football in general, NO I'm not. Am I happy with the manager, the tactics, the standard of player, NO I'm not. Do I think they compare favourably with those I have watched at any time in the past 50+ years, NO they don't. Do I miss following my team and wearing the colours all over Europe; YES of course I do. Do I think Mr Summers and the Board compare favourably with the men of standing who have been the custodians of the Club in the past, emphatically NO I don't. BUT do I expect Dave King to ride in with a barrow load of money and save the day, NO I don't, do you? Do I think that marching to Ibrox today will make one iota of difference to any of the above; NO I don't. Do I think that if 40,000 people signed up for ST's it would make a difference, without a doubt, YES it would. (And YES, Anchorman, I did recognise that your comment was not meant to be taken literally and neither was my response about 20,000 having signed up. You referred to fans on the outside and I referred to 20,000 on the inside, a little quip, nothing more than that.) Obviously, there are crisis and crisis. My point is that, however you define in it in Rangers terms, we are not in present danger of going out of existence; which we were two years ago. That's why both the RST/BR and RF have stagnated and why those who will not be on the march today far outnumber those who will be there. It doesn't mean that we don't undertstand the place our Club is at (playing Mickey Mouse teams in CA rather than the likes of LA Galaxy) nor that we don't care; it just means that we prefer to be positive rather than negative. I've paid my money and I'm going to be there to shout on my team at every conceivable opportunity; not standing in the street shouting my head off when no one is listening. Lastly, I say again that I 100% respect your right to do just that. I hope the rain keeps off for you and it is a peaceful and orderly demonstration.
  8. One could argue that our games were less competitive because we were so far ahead of most teams in our league ergo unbeaten record, so perhaps less competitve equals less bookings. Of course much the same could be said of Celtic in the SPL. Also most people would concede that European games would be more competitve and from my perspective refs in European games are more card happy but I don't have stats to back that up. Anyway it's an SFA award, it wouldn't be appropriate to include games not under their jurisdiction. UEFA award 3 places in the UEFA Cup for fair play by national and club sides combined: Kilmarnock got a Scottish place in 1999 and Motherwell in 2009. However, we were 8th of 54 last year, not too bad and in some way reflects Celtic's fair play record in Europe. Interesting that Norway have won it in 3 out of the last 4 years and they and Finland and Sweden have a terrific record; but Clubs from these countries are not very successful in European competition. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Respect_Fair_Play_ranking http://www.uefa.com/MultimediaFiles/Download/competitions/General/02/10/25/58/2102558_DOWNLOAD.pdf However, France, England, Germany and Netherlands appear in the top 10 in both the fair play (which includes national teams) and the club coefficients whilst Germany, Netherlands and France are in the top ten FIFA ranked countries in the World. This seems to prove that it is possible to be both fair and successful at the same time. The opposite also appears to be true if you look at some of the countries at the bottom of the fair play table: Armenia, Malta, Luxembourg, Liechstentein etc; whose clubs are not successful either. Perhaps there's some kind of relationship between small countries, disciplinary records and performance as well. http://www.fifa.com/worldranking/rankingtable/
  9. I thought it was all starting with Ibrox 1972 Ltd, or was it when the UoF first called for a ST boycott, please remind me.
  10. We are not in a crisis, we are not in great shape but we are not in a crisis. See #182.
  11. I think you're missing my point. What I am saying is that that there is no longer any threat to the existence of our club; I'm not saying for one minute that everything in the garden is rosy, it's manifestly the case that it is not. Oh and around 20,000 of us DO have a ticket to get back in.
  12. That's quite simple really. Then the very future of our Club was at stake or at least perceived to be at stake after the £160,000 fine and the transfer embargo. That's no longer or no longer perceived to be the case. That is also the reason why the RF membership has stagnated at 1,000+ rather than the anticipated 20,000 because there is no crisis now. Compare with 1,000+ St Mirren fans when they thought they had an opportunity to buy the club and 7,600+ in the FO Hearts fans (half the ST holders) repaying the funder.
  13. Any thoughts on what we spend the £5k on? Rangers site claiming we had THE BEST record in all the divisions.
  14. I'm sure you're right about most of that but I wouldn't let any Malaguistas hear you say it!
  15. How difficult would it be to get something smart like the new Malaga CF kit celebrating 110 years [/img] http://www.malagacf.com/en/new/malaga-cf-presents-historic-shirt-celebrating-110-years-of-malagueno-football/71586 A steal at €75 BTW!
  16. Amazing picture. Bet they sold a few bratwurst sandwiches & biers!
  17. "Everyone" who is everyone in this context? Every fan, every ST holder, every shareholder? The ST (non) Trust Scheme failed because it was a ridiculous arrangement from the start; my guess is that a lot of those who were sympathetic to its aims, recognised that, so didn't bother to sign up at all. Where are you getting this 40,000 from now given that at least 20,000 have now bought ST's?
  18. So is the Californian based Director of Ibrox 1972 Ltd flying in specially for the march or will be in Sacramento following the team?
  19. The Club’s home kit will be available to buy ahead of the first league game of the season against Hearts - on Thursday 7 August, 2014 - but is available to pre-order from Monday 28 July via the Rangers Megastore at Ibrox Stadium, the Glasgow Airport and Belfast shops and online at http://www.rangersmegastore.com. Grounded in heritage, designed with innovation, the latest Rangers home shirt meets the demands of players and fans. It features tipping on the sleeve cuffs with 1872 detailing celebrating the year the Club was founded. The kit also features all of the technological excellence expected from a PUMA kit including heat transfer tapes that run down the body and Dry Cell technology. Dry Cell technology enhances body performance by dragging moisture away from the body, improving air-flow and keeping the body at the ultimate performance temperature so you can keep cool through game time, added time, any time, every time. So now you know! http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/item/7231-four-year-wait-for-boyd
