It never ceases to amaze me while people like you seem to revel in the Club's difficulties. Quoted from RM

I am quite sure that Boyd and to a lesser extent Miller will add a few thousand to ST sales and that we will have 25,000 +-2,000/3,000 by KO in August. The big question will be how many of the 10,000 or so who have not renewed will attend game to game. I expect a full house v Hearts on opening day and high attendances for the other games v Hibs and Hearts. Attendances at other games will depend on a number of factors inc weather and how tight the league race is. Curious that Mr Houston wasn't there to take pictures. Time DK/SOS/UOF/Gunslinger et al admitted the game's a boggey and called on all fans to renew and support the Club. I feel that the Club have done what they can with very limited resources by signing Miller and Boyd. Like it or not Ally is the Manager, the squad is the squad (perhaps one or two more signings) let's support the team and make it a season to remember.

The Second Semi Annual Gersnet Dinner
BrahimHemdani replied to BrahimHemdani's topic in Rangers Chat
 That's fair enough and no reason why we shouldn't have an end of season one as well (note "semi-annual" in title) depending on the result (not giving anything away!) We'll keep the poll open for say another two weeks or longer so that anyone who's on a two week hol will see it. A lot of people seemed so enthused to have another one at the start of the season and there were also a few as you know who couldn't make the end season date for a variety of reasons. As you may recall, this is the second such poll (did one after the first dinner) and there was no support for waiting till the end of season for the next one on that poll. I think most all our home matches will be subject to change of kick-off times/ moved to Sunday; but here again the early kick-off worked well for us last time - more time to eat and drink. All comments welcome. -

These "somesuch" pub teams have a lot to answer for; what's the German for "somesuch", google doesn't recognise it

Fair point on the wages although we're overpaying already by all accounts. I don't think the gap between us and Celtic is as big as some people make out; they don't have players of the quality of Wanyama or Hooper now and are not likely to get players of that quaility in the near future if they don't qualify for the CL groups, which I doubt they will. We might struggle to attract European class bosmans next summer because although we should be in the SPL we still won't be back in Europe unless we win the Cup and get the special dispensation; but the season after we should be in better shape. I think I am correct in saying that these first team players' contracts are up next summer: McCulloch, Black, Daly, Faure, as well as Gallacher, Gasparatto and McAusland. McCulloch and Daly surely won't be resigned (although Jig may get a coaching job), Black might get a year's deal depending on how McLoed and Hutton progress this season, Faure will be away unless he gets a run at CB or he stays as useful cover, and I'd also keep Gallacher, Gasparatto and McAusland the last two being hopes for the future of our defence. McCulloch and Black would free up some decent wages for better and cheaper replacements.

The Second Semi Annual Gersnet Dinner
BrahimHemdani replied to BrahimHemdani's topic in Rangers Chat
I agree that it's extremely disappointing, particularly given that the first dinner was generally regarded as a resounding success and there were a number of folk who were unable to attend for a variety of reasons but said they would go to the next one. It does make me wonder if it's worthwhile going ahead. -
Well perhaps it was; but I read it as excusing his moronic behaviour, which is inexcusable for any reason in my book.

I don't usually disagree with you dB but I think you have to take account of the opposition last season. There are lies, damned lies and statistics. The only one of our back four who compares favourably with those of even the recent past is Wallace. Whilst Foster did get game time for us in 2010-11 that was mainly due to injuries to others; McCulloch & Mohsni don't compare with Goian & Bocanegra never mind those stalwarts you mention.

The writer's plea for "decent human compassion" is complete bollocks. " The one about his mother getting a job as a cleaner in a bus station in the capital and the whole family having to move 300 miles to live in Montevideo. Luis Suarez was seven and he was so traumatised he stayed behind with his granny for a month. The cracker about his father walking out two years later and leaving a mother and seven sons to cope. " "Or the kid having no boots and realising if he improved enough the club he played for as a kid would buy him boots. " Neither had Daniel O'Donnell but all he did was murder country music. I'm sure the gentlemen of the "Gaelic Players Association" will be appalled at the comparison. "a cute hoor" whore? is exactly right and no amount of counselling for the poor, abandoned, misunderstood lad will ever change that. If you've ever watched football in South America, it's a different ball game. Attackers expect to get chopped down the moment they go past a defender. I saw Independiente v Racing in Buenos Aires once and I can assure you that if the game had been played here, three or four would have been sent off and umpteen boooked; but the Argentinian ref kept his cards in his pocket and got hand shakes all round at the end. That's the way they play. My wife and I got mugged at knife point by three young tearaways on a day trip to Montevideo that time and barely escaped with our lives; but the police didn't want to know; apparently being a tourist in that country is provocative and makes you fair game. It's a different culture. So it seems is anyone who plays against Sr Saurez (fair game). He's an adult with a wife and two children who runs about a football pitch biting and abusing people. If you're in any doubt about the Latin and particularly Uruguayan culture from that perspective, read through the full FA decision on the Suarez v Evra case, you'll get your eyes opened. He ought to be arrested and locked up, never mind suspended from football for 4 months.

They will definitely sell for anything upwards of £50m or equivalent in players; he's a toxic brand now anywhere in the English speaking world but is a hero to the Latins.

Summer transfer window: Official ins/outs and transfer rumours
BrahimHemdani replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
No chance of that any time soon; unless we fail to get promotion next season. That said I am moderately encouraged by the fact that McCoist&Co appear to have realised that Daly+Little/Clark/ANOther wasn't good enough even for the Championship and have gone out and got Miller & Boyd. Whilst they are not exactly building blocks for the future: Miller MIGHT manage a season in the SPL as a Novo type impact sub; and Boyd OUGHT to be able to play in the SPL again for a season or two IF he keeps up his fitness; at the same time as Clark SHOULD learn from them both. Whether McGregor is an answer at CB, I don't know and like many others I'm convinced that McCulloch & Mohsni will be the the starters. Faure should get a run but McCoist won't play him ahead of Jig. Cuellar is the answer but I doubt we could afford him. We only have one genuine RB at the Club, Foster; and he is just too prone to mistakes. Alan Hutton would cost too much in wages right now, next season perhaps when he's a free agent. Absent a signing, would like to see McAusland or Peralta get an extended run but don't expect either. Foster will be our starter, for better or more likely worse. Kyle Hutton is capable of challenging either Law or Black if given a chance; but chance would be a fine thing. Aird and Templeton will vie for one wide berth and they should be good enough at this level. Templeton has already proven himself in the SPL and if Aird continues to develop he should be more than capable. Shiels may as well find another club. Looking at the OUTS and INS so far, there is a modest but discernible improvement in quality, a better RB would make all the difference. -
Especially with you at the helm! How about, you could swap out any 11 in the current squad and bring in anyone else currently playing in Scottish football that you could get for the same wages, who would you have?
-
No harm in that; might be tempted to make it two nights as well.
