  1. He played 150 games between 2007 and 2011 and another 16 last season. He's a more than decent player with loads of SPL experience and a Cup Winners medal to his name. Still only 28.
  2. Putting money in an escrow account does not tie it up because there would be conditions attached and he would continue to get interest on it.
  3. King said "‘I would say I would probably have to put in £30m of the £50m over the period of time. And I could probably get other people to put in £20m.”" I would suggest that that indicates that he has not stated that " he will invest" and therefore you "don't know he will".
  4. That would be completely against the interests of the investors they represent.
  5. Quite so, which is convenient for him from a financial point of view and for your argument.
  6. I think that if experience of the Rangers saga has taught us anything it is that it's best not to "assume" anything. And that's the point. You ARE going to work; much as he prefers not to invest in Rangers, will he eventually come up with the readies (or even a plan, which as Frankie points out is still noticeable by its absence) or will he say, I'm staying home?
  7. So at one and the same time according to the UoF "he has indicated that he is willing to provide that investment by taking a lead role in a fan-based initiative and we are fully supportive of the terms on which he wishes to do so." but according to him he has "no prime ambition to invest further in the club"/would "prefer" not to? Doesns't sound to me that he's all that enthusiastic.
  8. Yes, GS, I do undertsand that thanks. However, I assume YOU are going in to work tomorrow.......
  9. I'll take that as a NO, there have not been any public statements from Mr King or anyone else to the effect that he has secured any such commitments. No, we don't know he offered anything, so far you have not pointed to one statement least of all from him, where he says that he offered anything; all we have is him confirming the Board's statement to the contrary.
  10. Now that the fixtures have been announced we can review options for the The Second Semi Annual Gersnet Dinner As a reminder - The official result of the official poll for the second Official Gersnet Dinner was a draw: Early Season - August/September 4 votes 40.00% Autumn – October/November 4 votes 40.00% In the posts on the thread some specific dates were highlighted: Frankie (who was unable to attend the first dinner for the same reason) has weddings on the 8th and 9th of August. JC said that he is doing the deed on the 24th August and then off for a European road trip for 10 days so anytime after about the 6th Sept suits him fine. SC said not Aug 20 – 23 or the weekend of September 19th when he’s getting married. There was a suggestion that we should avoid the September weekend as well, which is the following weekend of 27/28 September. Personally I'm not convinced that the September weekend is a big issue any more especially as we have an attractive fixture that weekend. GS commented that if we have something reasonably early we can perhaps then have crimbo drinks. STB pushed September/October time from the start. Whilst it does seem reasonable to go somewhere in between the two winning time zones, which would argue for September or October (at the same time as accommodating GS’s comments about leaving the way clear for Crimbo Drinks - which someone else can organise thank you very much!), the recently announced fixtures have not been kind to us in that respect with only two home games over the two months: 27 September 2014 v Hibernian (September weekend, see above) 18 October 2014 v Raith Rovers As I said before, I didn’t say anything before the poll because I didn't want to influence the voting in any way but I will be away from 12 October to 1 November and apart from ruling me out of 18 October, effectively that means that I cannot organise anything for after 4/5 October until about mid November, say the 15th/16th, which is the weekend Scotland play RoI (Friday 14th). (However, whilst I would like to be at the dinner, I don’t have any problem with someone else assisting or taking over if it is decided to go with the 18 October.) We then have two home games in November 2014: 8 November 2014 v Falkirk 15 November 2014 v Alloa Athletic (may be postponed if Rangers have players in the Scotland squad) which dates are within the poll result. Given these limited options and despite the original lack of support in the poll for any dates in 2015, I think it’s best to have a new vote including the options in 2015. Comments and suggestions welcome.
  11. I repeat that you have no evidence that he either offered the £50 million or that it was rejected. Furthermore, I would ask if there is any evidence that he succeeded in persuading "the institutions in London (to) give the rights to someone like me"? I wonder what he meant by "someone like me"? Lastly I would ask if there has been any suggestion from Mr King or any of his supporters that he has obtained commitments to support his reported comment "And I could probably get other people to put in £20m".
  12. Whether the Board breached a confidence in respect of Mr King's comments is irrelevant, to the fact that he confirmed "my comment to them that I preferred not to put money into Rangers if it could be found from other sources."
  13. I agree with you that this is the most germane part of the statements. However, I read nothing in any of those newspaper reports of the statements you cite stating that Mr King offered any money or that the Board as you assert, rejected any such offer. The fact that the UoF says it is so, or even that Mr King said that to them, does not make it a fact that he offered the money to the Board or indeed that he had the backers that he said he would require. One reason, apart from being on holiday, why I deliberately decided to take a sabbatical from here for a while was I got equally fed up reading about Mr King’s £50 million as I was constantly being taken to task for doubting his intentions. I have done some googling this afternoon and was going to start a separate thread but it seems apposite to post here. Dave King statement 26 February 2014 “I previously invested 20 million pounds in the club and lost it all. Like all Rangers fans I continue to loyally support the team and the manager. I am willing to provide funding again but I do not believe that Rangers should be under the control of one owner/benefactor.” There was no mention of any specific amount. Dave King Statement 5 March 2014 “I will visit the institutions in London next week and put a schedule together with some of the existing shareholders to understand where they are and how they would feel about a rights issue. Also, whether they would participate, whether they would give the rights to someone like me - and I would like that out of the way before I meet the fans. I will stay up in Scotland for as long as it takes until we have a definite gameplan as to how we will go forward from there.” Dave King reported in the Daily Mail 24 March 2014. ‘I would say I would probably have to put in £30m of the £50m over the period of time. And I could probably get other people to put in £20m.” That is the first and only reference I can find to £30m or £50m. I am not saying there isn't an earlier reference or a more definitive one but if there is then please highlight it. Fact - There was no reference in Rangers’ or Dave King’s statements following the meeting with on 14 March 2014 to any offer by Dave King to invest in Rangers. Surely if you had offered such an investment and it had been rejected you would have said so, if not at the time then subsequently when the ST sales figures were announced or the forthcoming rights issue. Rangers’ Board Statement 11 April 2014 When the board met Mr King a few weeks ago, he made it clear that he did not want to put another penny into the club and would prefer to see the club using other investors' money. The board was therefore surprised, but gave him the benefit of the doubt when, a few days later, Mr King made media comments about a willingness to invest his money into the club. This is an easy statement to make to the media but is contrary to what he told the whole board. Rangers' Chairman David Somers 29 April 2014. "If Mr King wishes to engage in constructive dialogue, then the door remains open. Regrettably however, he continues to make fictitious, inaccurate and misleading comments which are very unhelpful."

  15. I am not going to get into the personalities involved because it is a fruitless discussion but one reason at least why Murray's investment in Rangers was targeted was that it was a lot easier to liquidate than properties.
  16. If you want to quote a name here or in a PM, I'll confirm.
  17. That comment hits the nail on the financial head. If anything highlights the downfall in Rangers' financial fortunes in recent years it is the £20m turnaround between 2008 and 2009 demonstrated in Rangersitis' figures. That miserable wet night in Kaunas watching Christian Dailly in midfield whilst a certain Brahim Hemdani sat on the bench was the beginning of all that has followed.
  18. Good luck to them and I absolutely defend their right to protest but there is no way there are 600 people in that picture.
  19. Sounded yesterday that the SG was going to foot some or all of the bill.
  20. I very much doubt that but if they do, they will dismiss it as a tiny minority, which was the risk that the SoS took. However, I think they will simply ignore it and bin the cards without counting how many ticked one box or another.
  21. Well, I know your nothing if not a realistic person CB and you are surely not going to say that 500/600 is a good turnout?
