Thanks for that info about the trains. I am not enthisiastic about a 4.30am bus run just for the match and presumably not getting back till around midnight! Too much like hard work.

I have been looking at the possibilities of going down to Derby for the friendly game on Saturday the 2nd of August; one problem being the 1.00pm KO. On a solo basis, train seems the best option but you would need to leave GLA by 7.00am and it is £119.50 return (though folks like me with a Senior Railcard could go for 30% less or First Class for more or less the same money). Personally I don't want to go on a 10-hour return journey just for the match. So that would mean going on Friday afternoon/evening and staying over Friday night. There are a good number of decent hotels around £40 - £60 for b&b (half that for anyone who wants to share a room). I was wondering if anyone would be up for car/ mini bus sharing and driving down on Friday afternoon/evening? I figure 4 in a car could do it for £25 - £30 pp for petrol. Also booking 4 or more hotel rooms could probabaly get a discount. So a group of 4 could probably do it for about £75 ea. +- £15. Rangers have confirmed they'll be handling ticket sales. Any interest/thoughts please post here or PM me as appropriate.

I would really hope he gets a chance to prove himself this season; we need to see if he can mature as a player and as a man.
-
He needs a run in the team to produce consistent form.
-
My point was not that he's a fantastic player but that if we play 3-5-2 he would be our best option at RWB. He's a tenacious player who has more skill than we've seen so far and would benefit from a run in the team and yes, he can take a mean free kick.

I would think that Boyd's wages (depending on who you believe) will be covered by increased ST sales of 1,000 - 2,000, which is realistic IMHO. Whilst Miller & Boyd are not de Boer & Mols (always worth the admission money alone in my view), if they hit it off and score goals which I firmly expect at this level, then the non-ST's will come out on a game to game basis as well.
-
I agree. Perhaps half plus appearance money or some form of bonus.
-
Agree with that 100%; but he may still be able to command twice that.
-
Can't see where we're getting that kind of money from or why we would need to pay anyone that to avoid them signing for another Scottish club, none of whom (ex Celtic!) could pay half that.
-
But I'll bet you, you wouldn't like to play against him!
-
I'm not the only one who didn't think it was very solid.
-
A combination perhaps; 12 matches, a ban to the end of the world cup + 4 months from the beginning of August or better still banned till 31/12/14.

Keep it real.

Would you not manage to agree with me that he or his cousin Peralta is a better RWB than Foster or Faure?
-
I completely agree with you on that. (Nice to agree with you on something!) But the minute McCulloch was fit last season he was out the team, ditto Foster. I did forget about about Peralta. If he is still with us he would be an ideal right wing back in a 3-5-2.

Having sat on football as well as other disciplinary committees I can assure you that you are wrong. If a player is obviously guilty of an offence he will only antagonise the committee by pleading innocence, particularly if he has "previous" to be taken into consideration.

Strictly speaking all suspensions in football are from "all football" or all footbvall in the relevant competition(s) which means that you are not allowed in the ground, though it is rarely enforced that way. I think FIFA are just making a point with that, because they don't want him to be a focus of media attention. Any appeal will be held immediately/tomorrow; they won't get away with appealing so he can play on Saturday. It's about as lenient a sentence as he could have expected so perhaps this time Liverpool will say he deserved it; but based on last time I wouldn't hold my breath. The defence was utter nonsense and I doubt it endeared the Uruguayans to the committee. They/he would have been far better appologising/moment of madness etc.

There's a very interesting analysis of the different World Cup formations here: http://www.mlssoccer.com/video/2014/06/20/why-goalscoring-boom-world-cup-its-all-formations-brazil-bound#ooid=ZwZmNlbjr24TyStZcCReNkgN1bEfnAw7'>http://www.mlssoccer.com/video/2014/06/20/why-goalscoring-boom-world-cup-its-all-formations-brazil-bound#ooid=ZwZmNlbjr24TyStZcCReNkgN1bEfnAw7 http://www.mlssoccer.com/video/2014/06/20/why-goalscoring-boom-world-cup-its-all-formations-brazil-bound Personally I like the Mexico/Holland 3-5-2/ 3-5-1-1 Bell; Faure; Mohsni; McGreggor; Aird; Black; Law; McLoed; Wallace; Miller (as the Arjen Robbin "free forward") Boyd (if he comes or) Clark It becomes 4-4-2 with Wallace dropping back if we're under pressure; but I agree that most times we don't need 4 at the back. However, I suspect we'll look more like this: Bell; Foster; Mohsni; McCulloch; McGregor; Wallace; Black; Law; McLoed: Miller; Boyd or Daly or Clark with Mohsni given license to come into the MF and the full backs pushing on as well. We really need Templeton in the team for creation but not sure where he's going to find a place unless on the left of a 5-man MF as MIller will play wide or behind the main striker. If we stick with 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 then: Bell; Foster/Faure; Mohsni; McGregor/McCulloch; Wallace; Aird/Templeton; Black; Law; McLoed; Miller Boyd/Clark/Daly

The Black Stars are to face Portugal on Thursday in a decisive Group G clash that could still see the African side qualify for the round of 16. However, they will be without Boateng and Muntari, with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) announcing on the morning of the game that Boateng has been suspended over claims he insulted Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah, while Muntari allegedly attacked a member of the organisation. An official statement on Boateng said: "The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has approved coach Kwesi Appiah's decision to suspend Kevin-Prince Boateng indefinitely from the Black Stars. The decision takes immediate effect. "The decision was taken following Boateng's vulgar verbal insults targeted at coach Kwesi Appiah during the team's training session in Maceio this week. "Boateng has since showed no remorse for his actions which has resulted in the decision. Boateng's accreditation for the 2014 World Cup has been withdrawn with immediate effect." A separate statement on Muntari added: "The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has suspended Sulley Ali Muntari indefinitely from the Black Stars with immediate effect. "The decision was taken in the wake of his unprovoked physical attack on an Executive Committee member of the GFA and a management member of the Black Stars, Mr Moses Armah on Tuesday June 24, 2014 during a meeting. "Muntari's accreditation for the 2014 World Cup has been withdrawn with immediate effect." Boateng himself confirmed his exit to Sport Bild and revealed he and Muntari had a minor clash in training which sparked the row with Appiah. "Yes, I am leaving. I am no longer part of the team," Boateng said. "Yesterday, there was incident between me and Sulley Muntari in training. We joked after a battle for the ball. I told him that he had played the ball with his hand. He said no. I laughed at him and said: 'You're the ref now, or what?' We both laughed, but the coach stopped the complete session and asked why we both laughed. We told him that everything's OK. But he sent us to the dressing room. "I talked to the coach after training. I asked him why he was down on me and he started shouting at me. He also insulted me. Words like 'f--- off' were said. "I heard about my suspension this morning. I absolutely accept it, but nobody should believe that I have insulted the coach or have done anything wrong. I leave now, and wish my colleagues the best of luck for the World Cup and the Portugal match." Boateng was surprisingly dropped by Appiah for the Black Stars' first World Cup game against United States, with the Schalke player questioning his coach's tactics after the match. The double-sacking piles extra pressure on Ghana ahead of the Portugal clash following an earlier disagreement over World Cup appearance fees. The nation's president had to intervene to reassure agitated players that they will be paid their bonuses. Ghana's government has sent more than $3 million in cash by plane to Brazil to pay the appearance fees owed to the national team at the World Cup. http://www.espnfc.com/fifa-world-cup/story/1913522/ghana-send-home-kevin-prince-boateng-and-sulley-muntari

Obviously the committee subscribe to Gersnet. But agree that it's not long enough; that was my lowest estimate; however, I doubt he'll get much change on appeal, perhaps a month off.

So if we are in the SPL in 2015/16 and we don't win it, you expect people power to remove the Board in the summer of 2016 and Mr King to come in with £50m?
-
And when do you expect that to happen?
-
Can't argue with that.
-
In that case why do you keep on about it? I think what you mean is frightening from the perspective of some fans.
