  1. Now that the dinner is sorted, a few late thoughts at bedtime on the leaflet as it seems that they are about to come out with yet another statement: RANGERS NEED CHANGE – This Board did not “fritter away the share issue money” and who (apart from Mr Houston) is to say they won’t deliver. SEASON TICKET HOLDERS HAVE THE POWER – The income from ST holders is not (as BD made clear) “vital to the current Board”. It is vital to the Club, your Club. “By cancelling your renewal, by delaying payment or paying game by game you can play your part” in bringing the Club to its knees. “If we stand together we can secure the assets of the Club”; no we can’t, it’s a preposterous idea. THE SCALE OF THE PROBLEM – “Most analysts agree that the Club needs a share issue injection of at least £20m”; correct, but we’ll have no chance of getting it if we don’t have “the normal income it receives”. Make your mind up Craig, do you want the Club to get the normal income or not? THE 12O DAY REVIEW IS A DIVERSION – “It’s an insult says Mr Houston; “intended to panic season-ticket holders into renewing before being able to properly consider where the Club ………. (unfinished)”; just who is panicking? THE CURRENT BOARD WILL ONLY DELIVER HEARTACHE – “Mortgaging season ticket income” is what the Boards of Rangers and many other Clubs have done for years to get them through the summer months when they have to pay players and perform maintenance on the stadium before the new season. Would that it were not so and perhaps it is worse now than it has been in the past but is not a phenomenon that shows this Board to be “incapable of running the Club”. At least they are not using the money to buy the Club. DON’T ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE BLACKMAILED – “Starving the Club of season ticket money will damage the Board”. This is Nonsense. It will do severe damage to the Club by putting the going concern basis in doubt and thus make the Board’s job all that much harder. WE ALL NEED TO MAKE SACRIFICES– “Is your seat more important than the Club’s future?” Blackmail indeed; it is emotional blackmail and blackmail that has no chance of succeeding. Lastly I do condemn the Board for delaying the issue of the review until the last minute or even beyond the last minute and not taking action earlier; but is Mr King & the UoF any better? Where are their plans for spending £30m/£50m or whatever and where is the detail about the Trust and all the questions so ably posted by Hildy? Does the fact that the word “trust” does not appear anywhere in the leaflet not tell us something?
  2. The last two mid week games, the fish suppers out the van on Edmiston Drive have been more exciting than the games; hopefully the dinner will live up to expectations and you never know we might put mighty Stranraer to the sword as well.
  3. Menu Segundo Cristobal thinks that with bread and small hors d'oeuvres that he will do as a free addition, two paellas will be enough for us: Paella de Marisco (seafood paella) and Paella de Montana (chicken, chorizo paella with added pork ) However, I have persuaded him that that will not be enough so he is going to do a special chicken paella as well, which will have wings and drumsticks as well as the usual breast of chicken). Postre (Desert) You can pretty much choose anything off the menu that will be up on the board but I strongly recommend the crema catalana (Spanish creme brulee) (glazed at the table).
  4. Menu Primero After some thought and discussion these are the final selections for the tapas: Pollo a la Crema (chicken breast in oregano sauce) Croquetas de Pollo (chicken croquettes made of bechamel, golden fried in bread crumbs) ........................................... Pesdado en Adobo (Spanish marinated fish in combination of paprika and spices) Gambas con Gabardinas (king prawns in beer batter and hot chilli sauce) - owner's special selection ...................................................................... Albondigas en tomate (meatballs in rich tomato sauce) Chorizo frito al vino tinto (home made Spanish paprika sausage in red wine sauce) ........................................................... Bravas con salsa picante (deep fired potatoes in chef's very hot sauce) ............................................................. All of the above were amongst those chosen by y'all except the owner's special selection of Gambas con Gabardinas (king prawns in beer batter and hot chilli sauce). He will do 5x each of the seven, more than fulfilling the 3x per person agreed.
  5. Crawford, Cristobal is from Cordoba so he might like this of the Mosque–Cathedral of Córdoba [/img]
  6. Corner of Edmiston and PRW rather than corner of Edmiston and Copland Rd, seems fair enough.
  7. Crawford I get that but wonder if it would be better to say "We all went to .........." and not sure if the owner will be too keen on the picture; how about something a little more Spanish?
  8. I think that's fair - your shout FS 3.15pm at Edmiston Drive at Copland Rd or the Swallow Hotel.
  9. I don't mind being (slightly) flexible! However the flow of traffic IS the wrong way and I am trying to accommodate FS and get to the restaurant asap after the match. Bear in mind the ceremony is going to take things up to around 3.00pm. That said if the majority want to meet in or at the Swallow I am happy to go with that. The cars can drive up Dumbreck left at Nithsdale Rd and down Shields Road. So vote now - Edmiston Drive at Copland Rd or the Swallow Hotel. I wouldn't want to be accused of dragging anyone away from a pint.
  10. You're right google found the wrong swallow! Anyway, if you don't mind I'd prefer folks to get to the restaurant asap.
  11. I've talked to a couple of the local firms and none want to take the booking in advance because of the unknowns about the crowd and the traffic; but Supreme Cars (Paisley Road West) were the most helpful. The plan is for me to call them as soon as I get out of the stadium and subject to traffic they say they'll get 3 cars along to the junction of Edmistion Drive and Copland Road in a few minutes. So unless anyone has a better idea that's that sorted.
  12. Thanks for the suggestions but I'd like everyone to get there in reasonable condition and in one piece if at all possible.
  13. I am pleased to confirm that as previously intimated BD has kindly donated the sum of £20 towards our liquid refreshment
  14. https://www.euroweeklynews.com/news/uk/item/120075-brit-football-star-found-dead-in-us A British footballer who played for his US college team has been found dead in his upstate New York apartment. Peter McAvoy, 22, from Dundee, Scotland, was found unresponsive at around 6pm on Saturday. Anyone know anything about the lad?
  15. Point taken, although I think it will have thinned out by the time we leave after the ceremony. I was thinking at the other side of the lights across Edmiston Drive/Copland Road or possibly at the junction of Paisley Road West. Other (VIP) cars to sit their. Don't want FS to have to go too far. Open to suggestions and yes I'll try to make a pre-booking, though it's a short journey and doubt taxis will be excited about the business. Perhaps Mr Easdale could supply a minibus? Anyone got his number?
  16. That's fine STB, I guessed that. There seems to be interest in having one near the start of next season; possibly September to avoid most folks holidays. We'll discuss on Saturday and then possibly put up another poll.
  17. They need a tough guy to sort out the big egos in the dressing room - heard Benitez' name mentioned on the radio tonight, he wouldn't stand for any nonsense.
  18. Meanwhile back on topic - all phone numbers confirmed thanks guys. Can anyone do a wall poster for us that might look good on film and get the restaurant name some exposure? The First Annual Gersnet Dinner at Malaga Tapas 26 April 2014 is all we really need on it but certainly open to creativity.
  19. Got to be quick or your dead around here, Crawford!
  20. Sorry taxis are full. Seriously that's noted, thanks. I make that 9 for the taxis, all except Crawford and bluebear. Will be sending out test text shortly.
  21. An excellent, fair and well balanced article, that puts most of Scotland's so called journalists to shame. However, I am wondering what is meant by "I’d hope fans would now begin to realise our power when it comes to Rangers and actually become a player ourselves instead of being played." It's a clever turn of phrase but does it reveal which side of the fence Frankie is on? How does Frankie propose fans turn themselves into players? Keep your money in your own bank perhaps?
