Chelsea are the form team no doubt though the semi final was tedium. City need to find a new David Silva and get an Aguero style finisher.

Late again. Magpies 1-3 Hammers Wolves 1-0 Blades Gunners 2-0 Fulham United 3-0 Burnley Leeds 1-2 Scousers Effy Cup: Chelsea 2-0 City Leicester 3-0 So’ton

Only lasted the customary 44 days at Leeds. I knew he was in and out at Elland Road but I hadn’t realised it was the same period as Stein. Clough was an excellent centre forward before a bad injury finished him. Saw him score two in a 6-6 draw in a friendly at Easter Road. Joe Baker got four for the Hibs.
-
Correct. You’re a bit hard on Stein, though. He did 44 days.
-
I think Chelsea are going to win it.
-
Stein is a classic example. Won a cup at Dunfermline, changed Hibs into a football team and transformed a bunch of also-rans in the east end. Failed at Leeds but that wasn’t surprising in the circumstances. I wonder what Hibs would have achieved if he had stayed.

The Albion storming up towards second bottom.

I was waiting for the results. I would have been wrong about Fulham v Wolves. Relegation seems settled now. Disappointed about the three going done. There are others I would have preferred and the likely replacements aren’t electrifying. May as well have a go at the rest of the card: City 2-1 Leeds Liverpool 3-0 Villa Palace 0-2 Chelsea Burnley 1-0 Mags Hammers 2-1 Leicester Hotspur 2-2 United Blades 0-2 Gunners Baggies 2-1 So’ton Brighton 2-1 Everton

Another team got to a final by way of Nantes, Vojvodina and Dukla (whether Prague or Pumpherston) probably not much different.

A more common spelling is “kow tow” but I’d say that this time you are 100% right.

A seven goal victory might do, I suppose but I want more. I want to see Cove humiliated. No plucky lower league nonsense. No consolation goal at the end. Make them change in the bus and no cup of tea at half-time either. If Rangers don’t dish out a good trouncing Mr Gerrard may have questions to answer.

Rangers appeal Patterson, Bassey, Zungu et al bans

Shoulda gone to Dubai. -
The Presidents of Real and Bayern will be on the ‘phone to one another to coordinate a response to this. Do Cove have permission to use Rangers’ logo?

@26th of foot mentions Joe Baker. What a centre forward. Colin Stein with booster rockets. Smashed himself up in a car crash while at Torino but recovered to play for Arsenal and England. But despite his place of birth and the nationality of his dad he was a Scotsman. Unlike Denis Law he talked like a Scotsman but like Law he played with the talented Scotsman’s arrogance. Wilson was a very proficient ‘keeper and played excellently for Scotland but otherwise he didn’t seem very Scottish. Played with the absolute confidence of English goalkeepers of his vintage. Joe’s brother Gerry played for St Mirren and quite well for Hibs but was not in the same class as Joe. Gerry was capped by the US! One Scotsman played for England and his brother for US. Can’t be right.

Jack Charlton was manager not player but I know what you mean. There was always some elasticity between South America and Spain but the great Hungarian, Puskas playing for Spain was a bit odd.
-
Thistle v Spiders - an absolute powder keg. Makes El Salvador and Honduras look like an afternoon in the Church House Library.
-
The Alban Polis will be after you for that. Hate crime by implication and by inference.
-
Nothing to discuss. 100% right.

Maybe only you and I will mind this, compo, maybe @Billkeekin’ out of his pram but this team, no Gers, no Celts, would do fine: Brown (Dundee/‘Spurs) Hamilton (Dundee) Parker (Falkirk/Everton) Cumming (Hearts) Captain Yeats (Dundee Utd/Liverpool) McKay (Hearts/‘Spurs) Leggat (Aberdeen) Young (Hearts/Everton) St John (Motherwell/Liverpool) Gilzean (Motherwell/‘Spurs) Mulhall (Aberdeen/Sunderland) Players like Law who never played in the Scottish League are omitted but there was enough talent for the reserves, Slater, Cox, Ure, McCann, Beattie, Quinn Martin and plenty. I missed out John White! Dottled early today.
-
That’s a remarkable feat. How do you do it?

Brora’s first game in weeks. What will they be like when they get match fit?
