  1. I suppose a even small proportion of Rangers fans outnumbers anyone else especially as most tims are off to Dublin in the green or wherever.
  2. celtic are very pleased with their useful idiot, Petrie and their supporter, Mulraney. Fans of other Scottish clubs couldn’t care less nor could the clubs themselves except those in lower divisions who have zero influence. The followers of other clubs have an ingrained antipathy to Rangers in much the same way as English fans have towards Manchester United. Why not if you’ve been under the cosh for decades? The signing of English players like Butcher, Woods and (ahem) Sounness plus the apparent riches of Marlborough, then Murray, and the singing of Rule Britannia raised envy to hatred and that’s never going away. Scottish fandom and football press, in my guess, are predominantly Nationalist - Jimmy Hill an’ that. Hence they accept batterings from celtic because celtic ar’nae English like sevco, ken? The solution is to gain control of the SFA by some means beyond my competence to know. Either that or join the Carlisle and District League and work our way up from there. Where would Rangers be now if that had happened in 2012 with a competent manager? Anybody answering Admin2 is a tim.
  3. Good luck. But I’ll not be watching nor waiting anxiously for the score.
  4. Mibbees aye, mibbees naw. I was about to agree but I changed my mind, then I wasn’t sure.
  5. Did Mrs Fresco ever find out?
  6. Perhaps Brown was his solicitor. You need one of these to make sure the QC is getting things right.
  7. Bandwagon jumping. No one does it better than snp/celtic.
  8. Awful game. ‘Spurs not too bad box to box but could nothing within sight of goal until the 79th minute. Players of both teams looked paralysed with tension walking out of the tunnel. I like to see them looking grim (Shearer/Gough) or utterly gallus (Baxter) Gallus only works if you’ve got Baxter’s talent, though. Fans didn’t enjoy it either. ‘Spurs because of the early goal and Liverpool because they couldn’t add to it until the end.

Sine die. You can’t have the team play with no socks.
  10. An “independent” lawyer “on behalf of” celtic?
  11. Manchester United wanted him a good few years ago but didn’t make an offer Everton couldn’t refuse. No.
  12. Not quite. In the High Court in Edinburgh, learned Embra toff, prosecuting, to Glesca keelie witness: ”What did the accused do next?” Witness: “ He went for chips and ginger.” Learned toff: “Who are Chips and Ginger?” Learned judge: “The accused is not charged with assaulting these persons.” Defence counsel (also a Glesca keelie) “ He means the accused went tae the chip shoap furra fish supper an’ lemonade.” That’s the one Len Murray tells. I doubt it myself. No Glaswegian, not even counsel, knows a posh word like lemonade.
  13. Both deserve it. Liverpool are the better side - look at the league table. Gonzo’s right. ’Spurs will win.

Shirt not top. Well said, Bill. Receive the Tiger Shaw Old Curmudgeon Award. These aren’t doled out like Smarties.
  15. I lasted forty minutes. Coincidentally to your post, I went out and put grass food on the lawn.
  16. Arsenal’s defence is better than it was but still poor. It’s ok, though. Aubameyang and Lacazette will out gun Chelsea.
  17. I don’t think Villa are as good as Fulham were this time last year.
  18. Sunderland fail true to form. Charlton a much better team. Villa manage to hold off Derby. They should be a Premier League team but probably need eleven new players.
  19. I see the point, soldier, but can’t quite agree.
  20. Dropped ball was called a stot-up in the olden days.
  21. No evidence of any affiliation to Rangers. Always thought he was a hometown Dons fan. No evidence of antipathy either.
  22. Not as I remember. Law’s instinct was to drive in at the enemy goal and have a shot. If he couldn’t make it he’d slip the ball to anyone.
  23. Was that not John Whyte, compo? When you see photos of Law at Huddersfield he was just a speccy wisp of a lad right enough.
  24. Two cracking games this weekend. Sunderland v Charlton on Sunday, Villa v Derby on Monday. Ha’way the Lads. Come on Villans. I think it’ll be Charlton and Derby.
  25. Hearts were a terrific team Late 50s. If John Cumming or Dave McKay were playing today, Brown would be forced to learn a very severe lesson.
