  1. So, the Rangers News is to be treated as a journal of record. Report to the Police is a different matter. The coppers can’t find anything in their files - par for the course. But there will be someone, an employee or a retired employee, who made the report, will be able to say when and to which station and by what means. At least I hope there is.
  2. The rugby quarter finalists will be England, All Blacks, Wales and the Springboks, though Australia or Ireland or France or Japan could cause an upset. Now for the real stuff. I’m doing this week in code so no one will know that I’m wrong. Toffees 2-1 ‘Ammers Villans 3-1 Seagulls Cherries 2-1 Canaries Pensioners 3-1 Magpies Foxes 2-0 Clarets Lilywhites 2-0 Hornets Wolves 2-0 Saints Glaziers 1-3 Citizens Rags 1-2 Scallies Blades 1-1 Gunners
  3. Lots of young Rangers in that squad. No celts. I suppose they’ll be signed up for ROI. What is Sonny Blu Lo-Everton doing playing for Watford with a name like that?
  4. Damned few and they’re a’ deid.
  5. Tom English should be recalled from Japan. This is too big an opportunity, sorry news event, for McLaughlin to handle alone.
  6. By God, Sir! You’re right, Sir. Wily devils those Afrikaners.
  7. If I had to pick a relegation candidate it would be Everton, unfortunately. They can’t seem to get things right.
  8. What happened to Republican Labour after Gerry Fitt?
  9. Queen Margaret Drive, no? Makes no difference to the story, though. Has McLean paid it off yet?
  10. What a win for the Wolves. 0-2. Coupon buster.
  11. This week’s feckless maundering: Brighton 2-1 ‘Spurs Burnley 2-1 Everton Liverpool 1-2 Leicester Norwich 1- 2 Villa Watford 1-1 Sheffield Utd Hammers 3-1 Palace Gunners 3-0 Bournemouth City 4-1 Wolves So’ton 1-3 Chelsea Newcastle 0-2 United
  12. Do I hear the suppressed chortling of a lilywhite?
  13. ICT asking shareholders for cash to ward off admin, apparently. This is for information only. I don’t trust myself to comment. I have a reputation for fairness and moderation to protect.
  14. One of those nights when every ball Bayern struck was perfect against a wide open defence. Contrast that with City in their match with Zagreb. Most balls they struck were marginally off. I wonder what might have happened if Eriksen’s shot just after the penalty had gone in. Great save by the ‘keeper.
  15. Last week I was useless. This week probably worse. Blades 1-3 Liverpool Villa 3-1 Burnley Bournemouth 2-3 Hammers Chelsea 3-1 Brighton Palace 1-1 Norwich ’Spurs 3-0 So’ton Wolves 2-0 Watford Everton.0-3 City Leicester 2-1 Newcastle United 1-2 Arsenal
  16. Thanks dB. Describes Livingston’s play last night exactly.
  17. Tav, Goldson and Arfield need to be rested. Helander’s distribution in the first half looked good. Livingstone players should be ashamed. Not for the way they played last night but for the fact they don’t play like that against the rest of the league. That’s a big assumption on my part but when I see glimpses of other games I don’t see the bristling attitudes, the steely determination, the staring eyes, the pumping legs or the flailing arms that I saw from them last night. In celtic matches it’s the opposite. From their opponents I see caution, anxiety and timidity. I see rabbits caught in headlights. If the others would play all the time at three quarters of the levels they produce against Rangers it might be a cracking league.
  18. More popes than names. JP I’m guessing.
  19. A bit of football indelible in the memory.
  20. Law is a good shout as would be Gilzean but I nominate Lawrie Reilly.
  21. I did - more than once. That’s a powerful team if they play up.
  22. Never mind Rangers/celtic, Magpies/Makems, Liverpool/Everton this fixture in the English League Cup tonight is, according to Talksport, one of the world’s needle derbies. Apparently Poileas Portsmouth think so too. Riot police, dogs, horses drones and helicopters on standby for an invasion of 2,000 rabid So’ton ultras. So, forget Boca/River. South coast sandcastle builders are the top firms. Now that Parliament has been deemed to have been unlawfully prorogued, I hope Mr Speaker will set aside the consideration of Brexit so that urgent questions can be dealt with about England’s shame. My question; which of Pompey and Saints are the d.o.bs? One of them must be, surely.
  23. I only got two results right and nowhere near the scores. Well done, Wolves.
