  1. Did he get the offer? (Miller, I suppose, not McLeod) Did Rangers not try to get him?
  2. How about Willie Miller? Gurning as usual? Did wee McLeod do the tv commentary? If he did, I’m glad I didn’t hear his ecstatic squealing.
  3. bbc rank 218 in the You-Gov Brand popularity ratings. One place ahead of Nutella, one behind Braun.
  4. Blocking the ‘keeper?
  5. Not an impressive record at Feyenoord. Two stunning results but little else.
  6. The lesser of two evils. I have a family member supporting each. I failed in my avuncular duties.
  7. In my moment of Triumph my slave has whispered in my ear that they’ll come straight back down. Probably. I’ve sacked the slave, though.
  8. I was engrossed in the football this afternoon (Sheffield United v Sunderland) Reading the post-natch reports I saw the SC Final had gone to penalties so I switched on to see MacGregor, ball in hand, and Robertson the ref strolling nonchalantly together towards the penalty spot happily chatting and oozing confidence the pair of them. And we all know what happened next. To be fair, four cracking penalties by Aberdeen. None of the fan dance routines. celtic captain greeting buckets. Poor fellow.
  9. Ha’way the Lads! Bit sorry for the Blades.
  10. Or Ian Fleming: ”Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action.”
  11. The various Boards have been reasonably patient in the face of the rest of us baying for sackings. That could be right.
  12. I want Sunderland to win but reality tells me Sheffield United are the better side. I hope the Lads prove me wrong. One thing for sure Wembley will be raucous unlike the usual garden party atmosphere.
  13. At long last, after waiting fifteen years he’s signing for celtic. I expect the Jap tour can go ahead now. Since I’ve mentioned them (confusion be upon them) they don’t have a problem banging in goals against the Aberdeens and Kilmarnocks and Dundees and other ‘bus parkers of the world.
  14. Bit of a mouthful.
  15. I’m not doubting your informant. Just very keen to know for sure that it’s the new guys who are running it and not the old.
  16. Rangers in recent seasons have raised their game against the bigger clubs.
  17. Any idea who is on the interview panel?
  18. They’ve got a load of comparative duffers right enough but there’s a couple worth keeping.
  19. 1-0 to the Hotspur at halftime. I’m surprised the goal was allowed. The ball wasn’t much more than a foot over the line.
  20. Assuming the new régime is running the appointment, the Press has no conduit to it except possibly Stewart and I don’t think he’s a leaker.
  21. If Mrs Gerrard has to be persuaded to come to Scotland in the first place she will never settle and he’ll be off again at the next glamorous opportunity such as Barnsley.
  22. Balogun knows how to defend. I like that in a defender.
  23. Great picture but even that’s not the real Goodison.
  24. I don’t think even the SFA Compliance Officer will claim jurisdiction over your car so you’re safe from him. Otherwise have a look at the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/uksi/1989/1796
  25. How quiet various Compliance Officers have been since celtic started winning a stream of Championships and Cups almost unhindered. I wonder what has jolted him into wakefulness. The Shorter Oxford Dictionary suggests to me that he’s going to have to prove that by corruption, JB meant only the “perversion of integrity by bribery or favour” and not one of the other meanings of the word. Maybe there’s a hope that Rangers can be given a disrepute charge for employing a person saying nasty things about refs. A ten point deduction isn’t needed for this season but it might come in handy for the next one.
