  1. McCoist missed a good few but scored more than enough. It would be informative if his stats were available for comparison with CD along with those of Maxie Murray, another who missed plenty but scored a lot. Also interesting would be the stats of the craftsmen goal scorers, Brand and Forrest and possibly Jelavić too.

    Butland

After his first few games I reckoned he was a decent enough ‘keeper but with a tendency to fumble low shots especially diving left even under no pressure. I wonder if he takes his eye off the ball thinking he’s got it covered while he wonders what to do next when he’s got it.
  3. That’s generous of you, CF.
  4. There’s the answer.
  5. The Championship is unusual this season. Normally there’s a runaway winner with the occasional surprise getting the last playoff place. I’m only familiar with two other leagues, Scottish 2 and Highland League Neither is competitive in the sense of uncertain contest for the likely winners. I have the old fashioned view that every match is a contest.
  6. I think that’s right. A current exception is the Championship in England. Great competition this season, it’s only now that four clubs are beginning to pull away.
  7. Which is the reason “youth” and “development” and Rangers are incompatible.
  8. No. The league champion team is the team with the most points in the league competition not the team that finishes fourth and gets a couple of flukes. If there were an end of season competition among the top four it would have to be called the Super Trophy or some other daft name with first against fourth and second against third then the final. Doesn’t appeal to me at all though I believe it may be quite popular in Rugby League. I don’t think they have as many games in their season as in the Premiership.
  9. And there we have it.
  10. Bigger league and ditch the four games nonsense.
  11. 3-2 at the Cottage. Well done the lilywhites.
  12. You keep saying that. You keep on being right.
  13. Archie Robertson and the magnificent George Brown.
  14. I get your point. I don’t think celtic were taking it easy. I think the Rangers players knew the points didn’t mean a lot so without that pressure they played without the usual fear paralysing them.
  15. Who’s Alloa’s manager?
  16. Right, Rangers can get started now.
  17. It’s ok. Hibs have to score again before the match begins.
  18. Burnley edge in front, Sunderland hold on but unfortunately Blackburn and the Baggies look out of it. Burnley must be regretting all the draws.
  19. Great centre half. Great captain. Easily takes a place beside Woodburn and Young.
  20. Everton 0-2 Arsenal Palace 0-1 Brighton Ipswich 1-1 Wolves West Ham 2-2 Bournemouth Villa 1-2 Forest Brentford 0-2 Chelsea Fulham 0-3 Liverpool ‘Spurs 3-0 So’ton United -1 City Leicester 0-2 Newcastle
  21. Archetypal Gascoigne goal and to think Gordon Durie was looked on as a B List striker. We didn’t know how lucky we were.
  22. Everybody fails at United. There is no football chalice more poisoned. If ten Hag is looking for a charity hobby the job should be his. Diverging off topic, I wonder who United’s Souness will be, namely the bloke that swaggers in and revives the failing corpulent toad. Whoever does it will be made for life. Not looking forward to the day but it’s coming though not tomorrow.
