  1. We need to get into the habit of selling players, after buying cheap and developing them. That's the sustainable model we need to adopt.
  2. Italy employed lopsided full-backs: their LB (Spinazzola) was high, virtually a winger, whereas their RB (Florenzi) tended to stay back to form a back three. That's not something we do. There's definitely a similarity in the passing midfield, with one player having a license to find space further forward (Aribo / Barella). Italy's counter-pressing was good too, which is similar to us; when they lost the ball, several players would cluster to win it back. I was impressed by Italy.
  3. Ahem... @Gribz
  4. Crystal Palace were close to appointing Nuno Santo, but I think he's holding out for the Everton job.
  5. The Red Honda Ulster... ?
  6. We were light already in central midfield, even with Zungu. I fully expect Kamara to be off after the Euros. I think Aribo might be played deeper, with the signings of Wright and Sakala, but even then we still need some more numbers in there.
  7. Turkey 1 - 2 Italy Wales 0 - 1 Switzerland Denmark 2 - 0 Finland Belgium 2 - 0 Russia England 1 - 1 Croatia Austria 2 - 0 N. Macedonia Netherlands 0 - 1 Ukraine Scotland 0 - 1 Czech Republic Poland 2 - 1 Slovakia Spain 2 - 1 Sweden Hungary 0 - 2 Portugal France 2 - 0 Germany
  8. Scoring: 3 points for a Correct Score; 1 point for a Correct Result. Matchday 1: Turkey - Italy Wales - Switzerland Denmark - Finland Belgium - Russia England - Croatia Austria - N. Macedonia Netherlands - Ukraine Scotland - Czech Republic Poland - Slovakia Spain - Sweden Hungary - Portugal France - Germany
  9. I'm pleased that Zungu's loan is not being made permanent.
  10. Everton provides Santo with a better current squad, and more resources for further investment, so, I think it is a step up. It'll be interesting to see how he gets on. He tried to move Wolves away from his reactive back three, towards a more possession based back four, without success, so it'll be interesting to see what he employs, with a fresh start.
  11. Tottenham in talks with Conte. I think he'd get a lot out of the squad, but it'll end badly, I think... his personality, Levy's personality, little investment... Fun. Nuno Santo in talks with Everton. Step up?
  12. I don't think the Netherlands nor Germany will do much at this competition.
  13. Surely we get moved up three spots? Not sure how it works, though.
  14. I registered without any issues. Took me 2 seconds.
  15. Was Postecoglou not linked with us, pre-Caixinha or Gerrard? I think he's a good coach. The only question mark is whether he can transfer his success in Australia and Japan to Scotland.
  16. Imagine Kane in this Chelsea team...
  17. No. As much as I dislike City, it's not random; It never is with Pep. You can say that, but for most of the season they played with Rodri as DM, who can't defend at all, and no striker, and yet they've absolutely dominated. Pep went with more midfielders because he wanted to play a 3-4-3 in possession, with the '4' as a diamond, trying to overload Chelsea's midfield, and to anticipate those aggressive wide CBs (Rudiger and Azpi) and get in behind. The trouble was, that Chelsea dropped their front three deeper to compensate, so space was at a minimum, and added to that, Chelsea's players won every one-on-one. Brilliant defending. Stirling was probably given a starting spot because of his pace 1-on-1, but the trouble is he's had a poor season. If he beats James (tough ask), then Azpi cleans up. Of course, it helps to have Kante who covers every blade of grass. The man's a machine.
  18. I'm waiting for @Bill's prediction...
  19. £10M is still not enough for Aribo, for me.
  20. I wouldn't mind getting McBurnie. But not for £15M. (a) He's not worth anything like that, and (b) where are we getting £15M to spend on a single player? Oh-- Daily Mail. Never mind.
  21. Wilder to West Brom. Allegri to Juventus. Conte to Real - although they are sniffing around Pochettino, alongside Spurs. Sarri to Inter was a rumour, but Inzaghi has left Lazio so he could be heading for Inter. I wonder if Zidane would fancy PSG? I feel like that suits his strengths.
  22. And, what are this weekend's lottery numbers?
