  1. I did say one of the reasons. He did express his opposition to the regime in Argentina before 78
  2. I'm sure this was one of the reasons Cruyff did not take part in the tournament and ultimately retired from International football
  3. The format of the 78 world cup was very different to the current tournaments. There essentially were no knockout phases or semi finals as the teams went into another group of 4, with the 2 group winners heading to the final. In Argentinas group, they were required to beat a decent Peru side by 4 goals to overtake Brazil. The final score was 6-0 with some truly awful "defending" by the Peruvians. Peruvians officials have subseuntly stated that the match was indeed fixed.
  4. Sellik "legend" Chris Sutton now effectively calling for Lennon to go. Oh dear. 4 away games on the bounce and Lennon openly admitting he needs a victory tomorrow. Let's see what unravels. Maybe Dave King had a point?...
  5. And don't forget how corrupt their 1978 win was...
  6. Not MOTM but I thought Jack had his best game in ages last night. He was more dynamic than usual
  7. Ok, the draw kind of felt like a defeat but let's get real here. 3 years ago we were getting beat by a team from Luxemburg. Last night we were a whisker away from beating a CL quality team who have never lost a Europa Cup match at home. Take away the two defensive blips, I thought it was one of the most accomplished performances I've ever seen from a Rangers team in Europe. Oh and what about the Tims? Is it true that Sparta hadn't played any form of football for a while out with the EL?
  8. Not to look too far ahead but are they not away to Hibs after that?
  9. Great win and vital 3 pts but I didn't really get the tactics in the 2nd half. I thought Aribo was looking lively and bringing on Balugan almost sent out a message that we were happy to sit back. Saying all that, if Kent had his shooting boots on we should have won that by at least 3
  10. Been quite impressed by Ittens play (when involved). His hold up and set up play have been decent. The chance he set up for Kent being the perfect example of that
  11. Need Tav and Borna to get in behind and hit the byline. Too many speculative balls into the box for me
  12. IMO, this our biggest test of the season. We now know we can get the better of and beat the bheasts but this is where we have failed in the past few years. We have a lead at the top, the other lot are not on league duty but we face a test on the plastic pitch against a team that will be dogged.
  13. A few observations... If this truly retro, the goalie kit should be yellow. I can't recall our goalies ever wearing purple? Is the price really £68? If so, Wtf. This being released on the same day as Castore announce a deal with Jabba The Hurt leaves me feeling somewhat uneasy tbh
  14. Just watched the highlights again. Defoes goal really is a thing of beauty. If that was scored in one of the major leagues, pundits would be losing it
  15. Today's post Euro picture... 3pts...check. Clean sheet...check. Good squad rotation...check. Bigger picture... 3 pts...check. Clean sheet...check. Good squad rotation...check. More pressure on the Bheasts...check.
  16. Just checked the BBC website and surprise, surprise...are we the main headline after beating a team on their own patch for the first time in Europe in 6 years? Of course not. Instead we are blessed with the story of how plucky Celtic rallied against Milan in a 3-1 home defeat
  17. Will be a very tough game IMO. Didnt they just draw with Brugges at the weekend? I saw that Brugges beat Zenit away from home last night so they must be decent
  18. Utter nonsense. He is very clever player IMO. Oh and Shane Duffy is not a better opponent than lower league fare based on yesterday
  19. I thought he was great in the first half but went off it when he started getting involved with Browninho
