I'm not missing the point - I'm disagreeing with your opinion. And re-read my last post - there was 1 'should'. You first stated we didn't create sufficient chances. When I pointed out the chances we created, the argument was then it wasn't enough quality chances. Again, I listed a the quality chances we created, you then said some of those weren't quality chances - fair-dos that's your opinion. Low block or not, we created chances in BOTH halves of the game including 4 or 5 against the "low block". We did create more chances and scored goals later in the game. I really struggle to work out how that's an issue and makes the scoreline "flattering". We won the easily, we won the game scoring 3 wonderfully created and executed goals (and one from an set-piece which isn't an irrelevance), we win playing some good football. Could it have been better? Of course it could have, but on the other hand, it could have been a lot worse.

Many happy returns to Mr Kitchenbrand.

No I'm not expecting Dowell to score a worldy every week. Rewatch the goal, he could have squared it to Danilo for a tap-in. So it was a quality chance. Why are set-pieces irrelevant? How many goals are scored / conceded from set-pieces? I'm expecting us to score MORE from set-pieces - they are hardly irrelevant. A chance created from a set-piece is as relevant as a chance from open play. In Cifu's disallowed goal, we should have gotten a penalty which would have, most likely, seen us go 2-0 in front. What is irrelevant is when we create and / take chances. Would the scoreline have flattered us if our XG was high 1st half and we were leafing 3-0 in first 15mins instead of scoring in the last 15mins? As for being deliberately obtuse just because I have a different opinion from you and don't give a monkeys about XG, is well, eh, obtuse.

But you've conveniently glossed over the chances we did create in 1st half. Cifu's disallowed goal, Dessers header, Souttars shot over the bar to name just 3 (outwith the goal). I'm not caught up in the result. To get a 4-0 win, you have to create chances and convert them and we did. If you can't (and are not willing) to remember the chances we created, then that's up to you. As for the 4th goal, off course it was a great finish, but it was a chance and it was brilliantly created.

He did score in every round on the run to Seville (and not all were pens) and wasn't he our top or 2nd top scorer last season? Not bad achievements for a right back towing a caravan. If our strikers, wide players and forwards scored and / or assisted as much as Tav, we'd be in a far better position.

Standard procedure. If its a hand ball when a goal is scored it is automatically chalked off - no need for an "on-field" review. What was weird was that once it was established Cifu handled the ball and goal was disallowed that Robertson wasnt then asked to look at the foul on Balogun that was a definite penalty IMO.

What a weird statement - you do realise most football managers get sacked or move on before they get sacked! im sure there will be stats somewhere to back that up 🙂 So we've moved from "very few" chances created to "quality" of chances created. What is your definition of a "quality" opportunity? Would you agree that the 4 goals were obviously quality chances (as they were converted into goals). The Cifu disallowed goal was also a "quality" chance as it was a "goal" but then chopped off. Or that the the pens we should / could have had would also count as "quality" chances as they are basically 1 v 1 and Tav has a decent record from 12 yards. What about the Dessers shot in the 2nd half was this also a "quality" opportunity as it took a brilliant defensive block to divert it for a corner? Think it's safe to say, on reflection, that we created both quantity and quality chances yesterday. Don't need XG to confirm it, just watch then game.

Souttar, Balogun, Cantwell, Cifu and Matondo all worthy candidates. Danilo for his 1st goal and his movement when he was deloyed as a number 9 also worth a mention. I've gone for Cifu as feel it would somehow wrong voting for a defender in a 4-0 victory!

By very few, what specific number do you mean? We scored 4 goals (3 of them really well worked), had a goal disallowed, their keeper made 2 saves, Dessers headed over just before halftime, then their defender brilliantly stopped a goal bound effort from Dessers. That makes 9 chances we created (converted 4 of them), that's hardly "very few" and that's just off the top of my head. EDIT - Just remembered Sima's chance in 2nd half when he should have went to ground and Souttar hit a strike over the bar in 1st hall. That's now 11 chances - very few indeed 🙂
-
I don't think it did - we totally dominated the game with the exception of a 5 minute spell in 2nd half. We had over 20 shots at goal and 9 of those were on target from circa 70% possession. we created a lot of chances, had a goal disallowed and could / should have had 2 penalties. I've read that because we scored 3 goals on last 15 minutes, it flattered us. Really? Doesn't matter when you score as long as you do.

Just watched the highlights and noticed a couple of things I missed at the game; - Balogun and Souttar completely dominated the Livi striker, especially in the air. He normally bullies our CH's. - at the disallowed goal, we should have been awarded a penalty as Balogun is clearly fouled when trying to meet the corner. - when Sima had the chance in 2nd half which the keeper saved, he was to honest as he stayed on his feet when the defender attempted to tackle him. If he'd gone down it was a pen (with Robertson, you never know tho). - Butlands save from Shinnie was top class but as my old man says (he's not got any sympathy for goalies), that's his job 🙂 - Lastly, there must be 1000s of fans who were at the game who missed the 2nd, 3rd and 4th goals.

Beale made the right changes at the correct point of the game. Livi were opening up and leaving gaps, Sima and especially Matondo exploited these gaps with their pace and directness. Previously, Livi were sitting deep, so their pace and directness wouldn't have been as potent as it was in last 10-15 minutes.

Both full backs delivered quality into the box today. The "one" you remember was especially good as Borna had only two players to aim for and played a perfect ball the Danilo couldn't miss. Neither were "beaten" easily today, we kept a clean sheet and think Livi managed 6 shots on goal, with only 2 on target (dam stats again). It's fine as I understand that some have made their minds up with regards to Tav and Borna, and no matter what they do, they have will never "redeem" themselves.
