Rumours were Blackburn and bid £4M but this was denied by Blackburn based journo who says we is coming to Rangers. truth is we'll not know for sure if we, or anyone else is in for him. And to be honest, there weren't a host of "decent" clubs lining up to sign Bassey and Aribo when we got them. Previously, Liverpool offered or were going to offer circa £20M for him.

But the manager will always have the last say on who we take the gamble on. Bassey is a great example - written of at LCFC and written off by many at Rangers early in his career. However no doubting Basseys hunger and desire and IMO that was driven as much by SG and MB as it was by Bassey himself. That's why I liked Beales comments about wanting to look players in the eye before signing them. Let's face it, if Cantwell and Davies development had gone to plan, we wouldn't be able to buy them - Liverpool were rumoured to be willing to pay £20M for Cantwell. We need to trust in MBs ability to indetify "hidden gems" and turn them into players. I willing to give Beale (as well as Cantwell and Davies if they sign) the benefit of doubt (let's face it, Beale hasn't even had 2 weeks of 1 window and some are writing him and the aforementioned players off).

But isn't that always gonna be the case given where we are financially? Even when we were shopping at "Harrods" we still managed to buy some duds.

Correct - be hard pushed to sign a player who has never been injured. Take Goldson as an example - had a heart issue but played every minute under SG.

Why not, we're loaded.... I posted in jest but guaranteed if we were in for him, some Rangers fans would find something negative to say about him!

I don't know - but having both played in EPL (and Championship in Cantwells case), they are further on in their development than Aribo and Bassey (who were gambles and we are lucky both paid off - let's bot forget Bassey was written off by a large section of fans early in his Rangers career). We are developing our own players via the Academy but no matter how much money you throw at it, or who you employee to run it, not every player will be a Patterson or a Bassey. If we do sign Cantwell and he can recapture the form he showed early in his career, we'll make a fortune on him. It's a gamble, but all signings are.

Some of our fans just like to constantly "abuse" our players (whether it be one, a few, the majority or them all). I've never understood it but we have a vocal minority who do it at games and on forums. Yesterday, a guy a few seats along from me spent the entire game slating out players. They were all sh1t, lazy, sh1tbags and a few other adjectives that I'll refrain from posting.

Heard he held talks with Ross Wilson today and Beale wants him immediately rather than in the summer. Davies is a player Beale has liked and monitored for a while and fits the profile of player Beale likes.

And that's the market we are in. We have to gamble and I for one am excited at the proposition of both playing for Rangers.

I don't think it's solely focused on Jack to be honest, seems to be most players. Jack was very effective in 2nd half and along with Lundstram completely controlled the midfield and negated any threat from Dundee United. I don't think many players could claim to have been anything other than mediocre in 1st half (some worse than others). 2nd half was completely different - total control and we ran out easy winners.

Lundstram for me - was the best of a bad bunch 1st half and along with Ryan Jack had total domination of the midfield 2nd half. As well as Jack, thought Sakala was bright 2nd half and took his goal well (as did Tillman) and Goldson and Davies seem to be developing a good defensive partnership.

Apologies - said I don't think Colak fits Beales style. I like Colak but can't see him fitting in. Agree regarding Alfie but he just seems a bit "off it". Hopefully as he gets more games he'll get fitter and better
