I feel for his size he should command his box better. I almost have a heart attack every time a high ball is crossed in. I think he could have done better with some of the shots(goals) from outside the box as well. He is excellent in playing football and is almost a sweeper. He has very quick reactions and gets down well for such a big guy. He is a good keeper but if he could be better with crosses and decision making when to come for them he would be a great keeper.

RFFF statement - youth development at Auchenhowie proposed
pete replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Making it solar powered would eat into a large part of that budget. I agree it would be great but unless it is hugely subsidised I can't see it being a part of that 450.000 estimate. I would think a good solar system with the needed power would be at least a quarter of that budget. I am no expert though. -
Who was the last outfield player to have played in goal for Rangers?

I thought directly on Roberts so I think it was him. I think not long after that teams could put a keeper on the bench. -

That is the time I am talking about. I remember a funny thing with my father. We had one of these moany negative guy's in front of us. My father said "I hope one of the players kick the ball out and it hits that idiot in the mouth and shuts him up." Just as would happen one of the players kicked the ball out direct at the moany guy. He saw it coming and ducked and my father got it full in the face. -

I remember the reserve team used to fill the full enclosure and have sat in more than 5000 supporters for a Celtic v Rangers reserve game. A pity we now talk about not filling a 245 seater stand. -
Woman are slowly taking over the world. Nearly all the football physio's are female these days God help us if Hilary Clinton becomes President of the US. I am thinking of becoming Muslim so I can put the wife back in her place. Just kidding! Although I hope Clinton doesn't get near being president. Not because she is a woman though.

Scottish football goes global in international TV deal...
pete replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
You know how at Christmas you get presents and stocking fillers? Scottish football is a stocking filler to these nations. To fill in time that they would otherwise be struggling to do without repeats. -
Okay guy's take this to private please.

Totally agree with that but it has also become the Tims anthem. They have taken away our anthem so I think it would be a real stab in the groin to them if we started singing it. Apart from that it is a great song just a pity they use it.

I don't understand why we let them turn things around. In the 60's\70's they were the original Huns because of the Irish ties with Germany during the war. I have always said we should take Walk on away from them.

Hopefully by then we can send out the reserve team. -
Yes I knew what you meant. It is just you don't get Messi for under 500.000 the market we are operating in that is why Warburton is trying to get a young gem from somewhere. Not aimed at you just general gibbering.

If he had good finishing and good touch he would unfortunately not be playing for this Rangers team.

If I remember correctly they already had a go at Penny arcade. They came away with the same sort of stuff, that it was a catholic who was jumped on or something like that. I am sure there is a thread on here somewhere. I don't have time to look it up just now as I am going out.

Rangers First board election: Gersnet's voting poll...
pete replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
Everyone is free to vote for who they want. -
Just saw how they rubber pellets jump up when someone kicks the ball. A young goalkeeper who has cancer said he had black pellets everywhere after a game. He is calling for it to be researched. Funny how almost 70% who are c;aiming it caused their cancer are goalkeepers.

Well there are 20.000 leagues under the sea so we might win one of them. I know it's as old as the hills. A German U-boat and a jap kamikaze flight to Barcelona would certainly brighten up those match day experiences.

Commercial aims would dictate that all is possible.

Atlantic League is BACK on the table as Dutch mastermind behind idea 16 years ago reveals secret talks with English consortium 07:00, 16 Feb 2016 By Keith Jackson FORMER PSV Eindhoven chairman Harry van Raaij has confirmed a consortium of businessmen based in England have approached him as they bid to resurrect the idea. THE Dutchman who tried to launch the Atlantic League 16 years ago has revealed secret talks are at an advanced stage to bring the proposal back to life. Former PSV Eindhoven chairman Harry van Raaij - the mastermind behind the aborted plan to set up a cross border league including Celtic and Rangers - has confirmed a consortium of businessmen based in England have approached him as they bid to resurrect the idea which was booted into touch by UEFA in the summer of 2000. Sources in Holland claim these closed door discussions have been on going for months and that they are being financially backed by potential sponsors and even a broadcast partner. The entire project is based upon the blue print which Van Raaij drew up all those years ago along with former Rangers chairman Sir David Murray - a radical cross border shake-up which was backed at the time by Celtic and Anderlecht. And it’s believed to have been resurrected as a direct response to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge’s plot to create a Champions League cartel involving only the richest clubs from across the continent. And last night Van Raaij said: “I have been sworn to secrecy so at this stage I cannot reveal anything else. But it’s a well constructed plan. Because you have asked me the question I will not lie about that but I cannot go into detail at this stage.” It’s understood the new proposal would see clubs such as Feyenoord, Ajax and PSV Eindhoven quit their domestic league to compete against European rivals from a range of countries including Scotland, Belgium, Portugal, Greece, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Clubs from Germany, France and Italy could also be involved if they are frozen out of Rummenigge’s cartel - which would see the elite clubs from Germany, Spain, France, Italy and England form an invitation only version of the Champions League. Record Sport revealed yesterday how Celtic’s chief executive Peter Lawwell has already reached out to Ajax among other European clubs in a bid to form a unified front to fight against the Big Five’s proposed revolution. But it is Van Raaij’s firm belief that these second tier clubs are in fact about to form their very own league. image: http://i1.dailyrecord.co.uk/incoming/article7377315.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/JS77527225.jpg Scott Allan in action against Ajax (Could be worth a fortune in the future. SA kicking a ball for Celtic) While Van Raaij has confirmed that the talks have reached an advanced stage he has refused to go public with the exact detail of the new proposals. But he insists it is a modern day reincarnation of the plan he and Murray took to UEFA’s HQ in the summer of 2000. He said: “At the time I went with the chairman of Rangers, David Murray to UEFA. We had a fantastic project which we called the Atlantic League. “Rangers wanted to go the same way as I did. But so did Celtic and Anderlecht, they joined us in the process. “Michael van Praag, the president of Ajax, thought it was a step too far. “Our group brought the whole plan - including TV contracts etc - to Switzerland. But the whole project was shot out of the sky by UEFA. David and I got no permission to take it any further. “The world has fundamentally changed since then and it’s sad that all these conservative football organisations have stood still for so many years. UEFA, the national federations, FIFA - they have never thought about what the EU meant for football. “Corporate business has gone international. As a football club, if you want to have a bond with your sponsors then you must take it across national borders to bring in major revenue. “But the only thing that has changed in football is the freedom for payers to move in Europe. Other than that, nothing has been done.” Now, though, Van Raiij believes the English Premier League’s recently secured £5.14 billion TV deal has triggered a response throughout the rest of Europe. He said: “The big football nations in Europe - Germany, France, Italy - are panicking about the dominance and power of the English Premier League. England as a football country is now unreachable. “The rest of the leagues in Europe are never going to get near them again because of their TV contracts. This is the reason why all of a sudden all of the other nations in Europe are now ready to create a European League.” Read more at http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/atlantic-league-back-table-dutch-7377289#eOx583ky28iKpHy7.99

I think you can take anything and find a link to cancer but it should be well researched. People in the shipbuilding industry on the Clyde were spraying asbestos onto the walls of ships without protection in the 50\60's so not all can just be swept aside.
