You beat me to it MF i agree with you totally. I have been stating regularly lately that he can't control a ball keeping it within 10 yards. He was absolutely crap on Sunday up until the goal. I didn't want him back because i didn't think he was good enough and i haven't really seen anything to make me think any different to be honest. He does have the lungs of an ox though and some of his mishits fly into the net so i suppose he deserves some praise.

The post was made on 14-03-2010 on the Rangers website. so he is half way through it.
-
Yes totally agree with that. Boyd is at his most dangerous in the box and it was obvious we were not going to have much box time. Good decision.

I was shouting at Walter what he was thinking about bringing on Naismith. I felt Beasley was a better bet due to his speed. I guess Walter was proven correct this time.
-
Yes Edu and Adoo playing today.

It does not have to be the Rangers crest. Rangers we love you. WALTER Smith legend to name a few. I understand we are linked to the union flag but we are rangers football club and a more Rangers topic would be better in my eyes.

Did the pigeon have a masonic apron on.

On a few occasions McCulloch broke down STM attacks and was up with the attack to have a shot or get involved in forward play. No doubt in my mind who was our best player today.
-
I actually think McCulloch should take the plaudits today, he was immense both in midfield and later in defence.

Excellent post Ally and enough can not be said about the squad and Walter Smith. I will admit saying "why is WS bringing on Naismith he should bring on Beasley for his speed and play him through the middle. Walter got it right although i think we would have won 2-0 with Beasley on.

It looks good but why does the union flag always be the central attraction. Surely supporters are there to support Rangers. The Rangers logo would be a better subject in my eyes.

Did we beat Ireland. Shit that makes it a super weekend. I never imagined that result. I will need to try and watch a replay of that.

What a fantastic day. 80.100 attendance. Leverkusen were better in the first half but Dortmund played excellent in the second and won 3-0. The stadium was absolutely jumping for most of the second half. It remembered me of the good old days before seating and bans at Ibrox. On the bus back the texts of how Twente were doing were coming in fast and furious. The atmosphere dipped when Twente went 1-0 behind. 15 minutes later came the 1-1 text and the atmosphere lifted again. Well done Twente for the 1-1 in Eindhoven hopefully that was a push to the Championship. Today was the icing on the cake of course. No need to say how today went. As the title said: What a weekend!:spl::spl::spl:

I attended Dortmund v Hamburg a few months ago and was amazed that the Dortmund and Hamburg supporters just mixed with each other, standing and sitting side by side in the stadium and at the beer tents. Dortmund hate Schalke supporters though i doubt if there is one Schalke supporter who would dare to leave the Schalke stand. On the bus journey we pass the Schalke stadium. As soon as they see the floodlights they spring out their seats and start singing a Dortmund song which is about ripping the stomach of a Shalke fan open. Their favourite chant is Shizer 04(Shite 04). I find it a bit like the tims with Rangers they seem to hate shalke more than they love Dortmund.

In the second book of the Played in Britain series, stadium expert Simon Inglis recalls the life and work of Archibald Leitch (1865-1939), the Scottish engineer whose designs were to football what Frank Matcham was to theatre. Millions of spectators sat or stood in Leitch's structures, built for such famous clubs as Arsenal, Manchester United, Everton, Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Hearts and Glasgow Rangers. No other stadium architect can claim such an illustrious list of clients. But while his pedimented gables and criss-cross steelwork balconies formed a recognisable and much-admired style, Leitch remained virtually unknown during his lifetime. Moreover, following the modernisation of stadiums brought on by the Hillsborough disaster, only a handful of his buildings survive, the listed stand and pavilion at Fulham's Craven Cottage in London being perhaps the best known. In this long overdue and affectionate study of Leitch's major works ââ?¬â?? which features many previously unseen original plans and photographs (including plans of the Ibrox Stadium in 1902 where Leitch's career almost came to an abrupt end as a result of football's first major disaster) Inglis seeks to engineer a fascinating account of the man who defined the distinctive look of British football grounds during the first half of the 20th Century.

I am going to watch Borrussia Dortmund v Bayer Leverkusen tomorrow. I am almost becoming a regular at Dortmund games.. Shame for their Celtic links i would be a far bigger supporter without them. Slightly later FC Twenthe take on PSV in Eindhoven which if they win would make them strong favourites to win their first ever championship. As a lot of the guy's i am going to Dortmund with are Twente supporters the text messages will be coming in thick and fast. I have always had a soft spot for PSV since we beat them 3-2 in the Bobby Russell days and they were the first team i watched when i came to Holland beating Wolves with Emlyn Hughes and Andy Gray, 3-1. I really hope Twente win this one as it would be really great for many of my friends and colleagues and super for a normally sub-top team to beat the big 3.(Ajax Feynoord PSV). Then of course is the the small matter of the cup final on Sunday to round the weekend off. What a weekend:spl::spl::spl: P.s. I was invited by the Dortmund supporters to travel to Berlin with them. 150 euro's for Hotel 2 nights + bus + all drink on the bus for free + ticket for the game. Unfortunately i am sponsoring my wife and daughter to go to Spain for 10 days so i had to renegue. The 150 euros is not the problem but the amount i would spend while in Berlin.

To be honest we cannot blame any manager for rangers not being able to challenge the top teams these days. Sepp Blatter and his MafFIFA fixing mob have a lot to answer for. Clubs with a billion pounds in debt certainly seems like match fixing to me.
-
To be honest i hope so. I would worry for Ibrox and MP if he took over. His football past is not that great either. I still haven't given up hope that someone will come in and help finance a move towards fan or partial fan ownership.

I take it Celtic with their 400 million in Seville are the biggest.

Sorry Cal that is the biggest load of tosh i have read in ages. Barcelona use the tactic of pushing up into the opponents half and challenging for the ball early. This forces lesser players who have less control of the ball to eventually punt it up the park where there is normally only one striker against 2 defenders. Normally they have the ball back with their opponents still in their own half. The danger with this tactic is that you can push your opponents back to around their own penalty area where the room is minimal and it becomes a game of hoping a mistake is made. You need to have good players to play this kind of game though as there is a mass of room behind your own defence. Scotland tried to do it to Holland a few years ago and ended up on the end of a 5-1 drubbing. Tony Mowbray is trying to play that way with Celtic but his defence and midfield are just not good enough causing them to lose goals. Negative football? Nah sorry i agree with a lot of things you write and i may be an arrogant idiot but it is, in my mind, you who does not have a great understanding of football. It may have another name than anti football but some teams set out to defend with ten men. certainly not pro open football.

Barry Ferguson springs to mind here. He was also irreplaceable but hey how many championships did we win with him in the team. Everyone is replaceable.

My name just seemed to get dropped, was my first attempt so bad or did i miss a call. I must admit i forget to look in this thread.
