That report does look pretty pathetic and amateurish. Like it was knocked up in half an hour.
-
Murray and Whyte also said this. Both took money in other ways.

I've lost you here. The 2nd placed teams are already automatically promoted.

I was led to believe it means "We demand an unfair advantage" from the tainted title of 5 years ago.

And then who does he sell it to? Someone else trying to make money? And if they do so who do they sell to and so on? Eventually you need an owner who is there for other reasons - even if it's just for his own ego. Why not just cut out the middle men and save our bank balances? All I can see that what will eventually happen is at some point there will be a share issue or two where the fans pay for the value of the club and get a fraction of ownership back. Their hard earned money will just line some rich guy's pocket. After that, rich businessmen will have to come along and find other ways of making lots of money for very little work that will be another scandal when it all comes out. The only way I can see that you can make money from most football clubs is to bleed the fans dry - or to do dodgy deals. There is no "real" profit to be made - especially in Scotland. You only gain when someone else loses. I'm not sure if such opportunism should be lauded.

The problem is that the quality of the Rangers team will reflect the amount of money the club have to spend which will be directly dependent on how much the season ticket is and how many renew. When you buy cheap you sometimes risk not getting the job done and eventually buying twice. The risk is that if we lower season tickets and only a fraction of the "fans" turn up then with the greater costs we have to maintain Ibrox etc, we could struggle in the lower divisions for quite a few years and be a lesser club when we do get to the SPL. I would rather go all out to get back there as quickly as possible and with the least damage done. To do that I think we it would help immensely if we had 40k season tickets at last year's price. Basically you get what you pay for. There are so many analogies but how about a bunch of people in a club putting on a firework display. The more money you charge everyone in the club to come, the more money you have to spend on fireworks and so the better the display - however, it'll never be as good as the main one in the city where perhaps they charge 100 times as many people say a fiver. It's not about value for money otherwise if you say well it's a low quality display so I want to pay less, then you're better just not doing the display at all and going to the city. In contrast, if you put up enough cash each then the display will be reasonably enjoyable and better than your neighbours' efforts. People who want to pay div 3 prices obviously want to support a div 3 team. If you want to support a top SPL level team then you need to spend appropriately. If you want to compare quality with spend and act like a customer then no-one is stopping you from being a customer of another team. in fact, one of Rangers and Scottish football's problems is that so many already do that via pay TV. This is not about being a customer it's about being a supporter and/or a fan. Even then, you have to ask yourself, would you rather pay less to watch your team of choice struggle to the top of the league, or pay more and watch them play everyone off the park?

Not many people are actually motivated by cash. However, they ARE demotivated if they think they are undervalued. A doctor does not generally go to work thinking how much money he can make today. Their goal tends to be to help people who are unwell. Entrepreneurs on the other hand, have the main goal of making as much money as possible. That is their score in life.
-
The problem I have with a profiteer is that he'll put profit before the good of the club. Would you prefer a doctor who is motivated by healing people and making the world a better place or one that is motivated by how much cash he can make?
-
Seems to me that the only one who acts like he is thinking about dropping his trousers to Green, is you...

No, you could not be more wrong. Rangers are a football club. Football clubs generally don't make profits, they make a loss. The owner generally takes the hit for the loss and so you can understand when they are parsimonious to reduce that loss. Rangers were NOT founded as a cash cow to make people profits and I can't see why that should change. Rangers should be run within its means and any profits reinvested in the club - not paid out to shareholders.
-
So are you 100% behind your employers? I think most of us are NOT "fully" behind those who employ them. A difference with Ally McCoist is that he can afford to walk away and in fact gave up a more lucrative media career to come to Rangers, and could probably go back to that. I'd say he has the balls to stay and fight for the survival of the club.
-
Why would you think that that is palatable to anyone? Rangers have generally been, and the fans see it as, a non-profit organisation and he comes along and says he's going to line his pockets from us and at the same time he is the right person to lead us? Imagine your local MP said he was just in it for the money and would be filing his expenses claims accordingly - would you vote for him? You must think so as he's obviously the most honest candidate. Your number 6 is way more than enough to make him a hate figure. Just because someone is honest about shafting you, it doesn't make the shafting forgiveable.

It's time for those who love the club to show it. You are not really paying to watch East Fife any more than you are paying to watch Dunfermline, you are paying to support the Rangers. If you think you are one of the people and the club is part of you then why would you deny the club money just because of who they are playing? This is not a normal relegation, it's an anomaly that needs to be rectified as soon as possible. For that we need the full support. If you want to save money due to the recession, don't go to away games - ever. Simple. Oh yeah - and stop paying Sky £600 a year to watch other teams in another country...

Reasons for Administration/Newco & resulting punishment???
calscot replied to Darthter's topic in Rangers Chat
Seeing as pretty much every business tries hard to reduce payments to HMRC, what is the beef? -
Based on what? How do you know?

I thought it was based on SFL rules?

A sense of perspective on players lost to date. No big deal really.
calscot replied to Anchorman's topic in Rangers Chat
Some of these players may under-perform but they still consistently finish streets ahead of on form SPL teams. They can compete with and beat Celtic over a season which players from other teams can't. To replace them to challenge for the SPL would cost us as much as we're losing - £25m. For relegation and them leaving we're losing up to £25m in transfer fees and still about £8m with the reduced fees for the pay cuts. That money could have been pretty handy to put together a full squad for the lower divisions. -
The newco is the company not the club. The club existed before the company. Killing a top club to make way for a Highland or Border league team when it will hardly affect their fortunes doesn't seem very fair to me. At worst this is triage and with that there is no queue. In any case, all things being fair, if it's a fair decision about which team come in, it would have to be Rangers for just about every fair criterion.
-
I can't imagine any club would dream of trying their hand at totally killing the biggest club in the country for the sake of entering division three. There has got to be some level where pure-self interest and fuck the rest is not the only motivation. Any team that did that would deserve to be bought up by Rangers fans and immediately put out of business. That sounds harsh but no worse than what you are suggesting.
-
I think it's obvious that players mostly put money before ambition or the consideration of the league they are in or how competitive the wooing team is. I'm pretty sure, having watched players leave Rangers for the likes of Stoke that most SPL players will take a better wage to play for Rangers even in div 3 than stay in the SPL or go off to League 1 in England or a mediocre at best team abroad. We're not talking about Niasmiths or McGregors.

No. The vacancy is artificial.

Maybe you need to read the last year of GersNet and gen up on what's happened... Search for "EBT" and go from there. -
One thing about Brown is he does call is like a fan who "gets it".

Pfa scotland response to allegation players acting in breach of contract
calscot replied to Steve1872's topic in Rangers Chat
The PFA are a weird Union. They only act in the interests of the highest paid players even if that is to the detriment of all their other members. They are directly responsible for the unemployment of thousands of their members. -
Scottish FA will block any move to accept newco Rangers into SPL

Under what grounds - apart from being Lawwell's lap dog?
