  1. However I think Sebo is pretty committed. He just lacks the ability...
  2. I don't think you're the only one. Even a shit manager shouldn't be steering a team of internationals that costs 27M a year to defeat against a wee team like St Johnstone. I'm sure you could pick a guy at random out the Ibrox crowd and he couldn't do worse. And I'm not exaggerating... The only thing that's keeping PLG in a job is his previous reputation, if it was the likes of Graeme Rix we'd have mass sacking protests by now. We are a hard lot to please but even the village idiot can see that these results are completely unacceptable.
  3. He's never done it before, so I doubt he will now. However I think he should allow Rangers to borrow a few million, add that to the balance of the summer budget, add in the UEFA cup money (especially if we progress) and let the manager spend some proper money in January. Say 8 mil. Eck had that two years ago and it helped win us the league. We don't want to get into massive debt again but in a crisis, I think borrowing a few million (and keeping on top of it) is imperitive.
  4. I can't see why a top athlete in the game can't do both. You don't get Man U or Barcelona moaning about playing in Europe. Playing twice a week has always been nothing out of the ordinary at Rangers. He needs to look at videos of Walter Smith's side in 92/93. They won the treble despite 10 of the biggest European games with great performances at home and abroad.
  5. I thought as much and expect a new central defender come January as well as a massive improvement from the current players.
  6. Rae's probably given the armband because he's the oldest...
  7. lol Well done.
  8. Not what we want to hear and some of it does seem a bit Ostrich like. I really want him to acknowledge that the team is not good enough. He seems to be in denial at the moment. When there is an emergency it's time to be a wee bit less tight with the cheque book. We really need to take the opportunity that the transfer window provides us. If nothing else we desperately need one player - a dominant central defender. PLG even says the same but can't define what one is... I think he may be tempering our hopes for a spending spree which we can't afford and when you spend what little money you have you want to do it in the sales and football is the one place you don't get bargains in January. Actually I disagree with that. There are many players with 6 months left on their contract who are going to leave for summer for nothing and you can get them for a bargain January. We got Boyd in January and Buffel and we could have got Riordan.
  9. Didn't you put Bardsley in your team v St Johnstone or were you saying what you thought the team will be?
  10. I've no problem with people not wanting to turn up but have a suggestion. Couldn't you see if you can find someone who fancies going in your place and lend them your smart card? I'm sure even a very dispirited bear without a season ticket would fancy a game for free and the team could do with as much backing as possible at the moment. It would also show the GFITW that we are far better fans if we could get say 40,000 there when we're doing badly while they can only get 18,000 when they are flying high in the league and doing not that bad in the CL. For those going but not looking forward to it, fair enough, but you're not doing yourself or the team an favours by deciding that you're not going to enjoy the game well before you even go. Why not have a good moan here and get it out your system before tonight and go along and enjoy yourself. Remember the Tims are out and so we've a good chance of winning the first trophy of the season and we haven't won anything for a year and a half. If we could do it that could lift the players into better a attitude, confidence and results towards the end of the season and make sure of second place and be in contention if Celtic have a huge implosion.
  11. If Clement is fit enough, I could see him playing instead of Svensson with Hemdani going back into defence which would agree with Alan's team. However I think Svensson needs a game to keep him up to speed for Europe and he's not been tried with Papac yet. Although experimenting at this crucial stage on the back of such a crap run could be very risky.
  12. Stanger scored two in the reserve game against St Mirren, but so did Ashikodi who has scored 6 in his last 4 games. Rae is captain and so will definitely start. I can't see Le Guen changing the defence again unless it's to put Svensson in, instead of Hemdani who could go back to midfield. Keeper and full backs probably the same and he must start Boyd and Novo deserves to stay in and playing will keep his confidence up. Adam probably deserves to stay in too and Clement could be dropped as he's not fit enough to play 3 games in 8 days. Prso should definitely not start as he needs rest and Buffel has been piss poor. Sebo hasn't done anything yet but this could be a good time to give him a proper chance. So in conclusion I'd go for: ...............MacGregor Hutton Svensson Papac Smith .............Rae Hemdani .........Novo Sebo Adam .................Boyd

Berg was good, not great IMO but we could definitely do with someone like him now as he was head and shoulders above what we have. Even Zurab is getting plaudits for Blackburn in the EPL. Rangers have had 20 years of dominant central defenders: Butcher, Gough, McPherson, Amoruso, Moore, Hendry, Berg, De Boer, Boumsong, even Kontermann. And now we're back to the John Greig days - manager that is, not his centre half days.
  14. Logically clapping is more appropriate to me. None of us knew the guy, he probably played before we were born, and so we won't really genuinely mourn the loss of a 74 year old who died of natural causes. So a grave silence doesn't seem appropriate - it's more for an untimely death. However we can all appreciate his ability as a footballer and celebrate his time at our club by applauding during what is pretty much his final curtain call.
  15. He's not saying you're wrong, he saying you've stated your opinion but haven't elucidated and expanded your reasons for it to try and convince him that your opinion might be more valid. It's a problem position, Hutton is only 22 and so could easily improve but maybe we need to bring someone in in the meantime. However, I think the priority is a couple of centre backs. Eh? What school boy stuff? Did you only debate when you were at school? Frankie is just saying in friendly way, "tell me more about your opinion and why you have it".
  16. I blame PLG for not buying/picking two centre backs that can challenge crosses in the box. We've had many Rangers teams who have dominated and only scored one goal even with McCoist and Hateley on the pitch, but the championship winning ones usually kept it tight at the back, especially at the end of the game. Clean sheets and playing for the full 90 minutes are both cliché when it comes to winning the league. Besides we're the ones who should be scoring the late goals not the team at the bottom of the table. How many times have Celtic won the game in the last few minutes this season? I've lost count. PLG was supposed to make our team fitter and being fit enough to play twice a week has always been a prerequisite at Rangers.
  17. There's 22 guys on the pitch as well as the ball and referee, unless you watch a player cam all the time then you'll always see and miss different aspects of a players game compared with another spectator.

    Who goes

I believe Le Guen underspent his budget in the summer and we should have made a few mil from the UEFA cup so I'd bet money that we'll bring in at least two players in January, and I'd guess a couple more than that. We could do with selling/freeing a couple to release their wages first. If it was a computer game, I'd try selling/trading Buffel, Rodriguez and Rae, send Bardsley and Martin back to Man U, I'd probably try to punt Sebo too for a couple of mil. I'd then try to bring in two strong centre backs and a big target man striker. If any money was left I'd go for a solid left midfielder. It's not a computer game but PLG could do some of that.

    Big Marv

He was 100 times better at heading the ball than kicking it... :D
  20. I think the commemorating the memory of BS is more important than the manner of doing it.
  21. I must have missed this one as it's a very good post.

    Who goes

While players being paid 10 to 30 grand a week are getting beat by players paid 1 to 3 grand a week, I can forsee loads of threads on this. Talking about solutions to out problems hardly sounds like moaning, however your post definitely sounds like a moan. Getting behind the team is for matchdays, after such a bad result I think we're entitled to indulge in some fantasy football management to ease our frustration. I think we're all behind the team, not one of us doesn't want to see every player play fantastically. However, if they are not doing the job they are paid for, week in, week out, it's natural to think we should replace them with players who will. I wouldn't count on it. It's major surgery time and everyone knows it including PLG. I don't think DM can back out of a small spending spree in January without losing the what remains of his popularity. We can easily raise the money and it seems imperative that we do. It would be a poor financial decision not to make sure we spend enough to qualify for the champions league. Debt is not a necessarily a bad thing. Big debt like we had before is very bad indeed, but we can easily cope with 10M worth of debt as long as it is managed properly and repaid as much as possible when we have excess funds.

I pretty much agree with all that...

That we have a pathetically piss poor squad.
  25. I think he's 15 and plays for the under 19's as he's so good for his age.
