I had long given up on the title at this stage last season and just a few weeks prior to this window had given up on it and was looking for second. But not now. We could/should have been beaten the yahoos in their own cesspit and the second half display against Brazilian champions Corinthians was impressive indeed. Plus I have said several times before on these forums that a single player or two can transform a side which is exactly more or less what happened to the yahoos in Rogers first season. During this transfer window we have already brought in not just a player or two but a handful of players who can make a major transformative difference with the prospect of even more to come. I'm massively encouraged and now looking to go on an extended unbeaten run while all around us stutter as they and admittedly us too till this point have all season. We're the team of this window, the only story worth talking about. Number 55 is assuredly a tall order at this stage but not mere fantasy.

Wondering if he will get a run out on Sunday. Surely with the 6 pointer against the sheep to follow 3 days later Murty will want him in there getting some game time.

Surely any player with as much experience of Scottish football in general and Scotland in general as he has knows that this is going to be a high profile existence with every move both on and off the field scrutinised. I would though suggest he curtails his clubbing in Edinburgh. They truly are a vile crowd and perhaps the most bilious in the league. There are already threats being bandied around about what could/should happen to him if/when he plays for us against them in their own bile pit.

I think he has to start someplace and I would imagine it's the case that many players get their first management job on the basis of their playing career in the sense of who they played for and at what level. It's what got Souness his first management job and that at a high profile club.

This is pathetic. The hubz forum currently has 13 pages obsessing on the Cummings signing while we only have 2. We're clearly not obsessive enough.

Is it the case that non members can now see all areas of the forum? I can see all areas even when not signed in which I couldn't before. PS: And user profiles too which was also limited to signed in members before the change.

His rant is a pile of utter shit which I can only guess is designed to set him up as a 'controversial' pundit once he has kicked his last professional ball which isn't in the distant future. An example of the utter shit. Unsettling everybody? How else are they supposed to discover exactly what the asking price is? Again, no point in dropping phone calls? How exactly are they supposed to discover what the asking price is? Telepathy? And if you want something you simply go and get it? Really? See in my experience in all walks of life most people don't simply want something then automatically go get it. They ask how much it costs then when a price is quoted they decide if they can afford it and if they want it that much. If the price is too high they don't get it. If the seller of any commodity then lowers the price they might get it. What's all the more pathetic about it is that I feel Boyd thinks he's making some profound comment. Lacks the insight to discern how vacuous and meaningless his babbling is.

The January Transfer Window Rumours and Deals Thread
JFK-1 replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Boyd isn’t the only one with nothing but Rangers to talk about. There’s a hubz forum that already has a 12 page and growing topic obsessing on us signing Cummings. They have talked more about it than we have. -
No disputing Liverpool are on the rise and could very well take second spot in the league. Despite this win City are already too far ahead to be caught as they will lose to very few others if any. Chances are Liverpool may still strengthen further before this window is out after the capture of Van Dijk who didn't even play in this game and with a pile more money to spend after the £142 million transfer of Coutinho to Barcelona.

The January Transfer Window Rumours and Deals Thread
JFK-1 replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Indisputably a steal if he does a job for us and the 600K part is factual and especially so considering he went to Forest for a million plus. I'm now wondering if this 600K thing is written into this deal or is just 'rumour' Wondering if it's written in since presume he went on a goal rampage for us and overall playing a blinder. If it isn't actually written in would they then want to boot up the price or even release him at all? Out of all the what I deemed to be realistic rumours at the start of this window he was the one I wanted above all to work out. He's young he can take some of the load off Morelos and is so young we could hold on to him for a goodly number of years and still realise an admirable sell on value. Bonus feature? How sweet will it be if he were to be instrumental in destroying the Lennon brigade when we next meet them. -
The January Transfer Window Rumours and Deals Thread

Daily rabble reporting Cummings signing on loan till end of season. Think I prefer a loan to a purchase at this stage. Let's see what he can do for us and if he has matured any before committing. But admittedly i'm already drooling at the prospect of a Morelos Cummings spearhead. -
Definitely timely for him. St Johnstone have no money for a trip abroad during the break while he gets to go to Florida.
-
He spent around 10 years of his career in Scotland encompassing effectively all of his prime years. He's probably more of a name in Scotland than anywhere else.

If they don't get the automatic promotion spot I don't see them beating an SPL opponent in a play off no matter who that opponent is.

James McClean admits he would ‘give anything’ to play for the Hoops
JFK-1 replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
Personally I don't feel that way because it's simply not in my DNA. But you have to appreciate there are some people who have reason to feel like that about such as James McClean who while living in Britain and earning a good living in Britain would very likely not be out of place with the kind of people who wish British soldiers to die a horrible death. This kind of individual. -
Who is this referring to?

The Winter break couldn't have been timed better for us with the injuries piling up and with this window conveniently thrown in to strengthen key areas i'm encouraged. No disrespect to Fraserburgh but that too could hardly have been hand picked better as a first post break competitive match. Following that we then have the chance to inflict a third consecutive defeat on the sheep to retake second place. Get that done possibly even with Cummings taking some of the pressure off young Morelos and we could slip into cruise drive. I find the prospect of a Cummings/Morelos spearhead to be mouthwatering. A 21 and 22 year old with unlimited energy spearheading the attack could bring an avalanche of goals. As has been mentioned it's been unfair to burden a young guy like Morelos with the entire striking load. And given that opposition defences have had him marked out as the danger man leading to heavy marking two such danger men spreading out the markers opens up all manner of possibilities.

Most would agree that it looks as if consistency is elusive but my main argument was "Surely that particular and peculiar inconsistency has to be ironed out at some point." With January additions i'm looking for that point to be reached. The Winter break has come at a good time for us. We have an expansive injury list and perhaps Murty just like any other incoming manager needs time to get his philosophies into their heads. I hadn't actually considered that in much detail before because Murty had always been there. But I suppose I and everyone else have to accept that yes he was always there but he didn't have the power to dictate team selection and strategy. And just a single player can make a massive difference to the overall performance of a team and we have already made a couple of useful additions with the prospect of more to come. I find the Cummings possibility to be hugely interesting. Paired with Morelos could be a game changer.

It's just difficult to believe that any professional entity out there such as another club would give any credence to the raving of obvious loony tunes and bampots.

Well it's a funny old thing that overall i'm a hard core statistics based type of person who has 'faith' in nothing but rather tends to accept statistical findings as indisputable fact. But in an instance like this I see statistics as less reliable than in most other fields or circumstances. And admittedly that's in part but not entirely because it's Rangers and an outcome going against the most recent stats is what I want. I believe the statistics are erroneous in the sense that we're already good enough to beat anybody in this league but for some unknown reason have been failing to do so consistently while the current window may may make us even more potent. This season has often been a mirror image of last as in last season we often struggled against the top 6 while beating the bottom 6 and now we're beating the top sides while blowing it against the bottom half. Surely that particular and peculiar inconsistency has to be ironed out at some point. A single player or two can make a huge difference to such inconsistencies. Hopefully this window will be the turning point for us in that respect.

Oh ye of little faith.

These kind of punters are the bookies dream. Wishful betting.

I would agree in general but the league has been so unpredictable this season you just never know what a good run could do. And I feel that even before new signings come in this team is capable of mounting a consistent run. Earlier in the season I would have disliked missing weeks of competitive action because the team needed to gel but all things considered this Winter break is beneficial to us.
