Is there anything much to this?
-
I don't disagree with that. I was under the impression though that the SFA said he would never play again and hence it would require the manager to tell them he intends to reconsider him for selection. I think gordy's questioning of my statement has confused things. I was saying the same as you.

The happiest man in Britain? :kb:

I meant Wallace not Wilson. Agree Fletcher could well play ahead of Miller too. It shows that we're not as bad as Burley has made us though.
-
Aye, but I thought they would never have him back? May be wrong on this.

I didn't mean to shit on the conference. It sounded very interesting. Most notably the German speaker. FWIW, if the main protagonists ego's allowed, "shutting up and resigning" would most likely be the biggest boost this project could get. I don't know any of them personally (so no axe to grind here) but they do appear to be tainted with a charge of being in it for their own advancement rather than the clubs. To prove that false they could and should step aside. They wont, and if they did who steps into the void and fills it with any credibility to drive the project forward? I dunno what the right answer is there.

Pretty much what BD has said I think. Once you have something to ask people to fall in in support of and once you reveal the grand plan, then canvas for support.

Lol, if Sky are to be believed, it wont be upto Burley to not pick him anymore. Will the potential new manager have the strength of character to tell the SFA, media and TA that he wishes to reconsider the best striker in the country for selection? We don't have the wealth of players to ignore such talent.
-
Well Burley's team could do with a few of them.

Not had an I love Boyd thread in a while (probably like half an hour or so). But looking at that disaster this weekend, allied to the 6 goals in 8 qualifiers (less than bottom placed Iceland) is it fair to say that the Hitman should be the first name on the team sheet for club and country? :kb:

Gordon/McGregor Hutton Berra Barr/Weir Wallace/Dixon Brown Fletcher Ferguson McFadden/Naismith Boyd Miller That's is probably roughly our best XI when fit (Have a I missed anyone?). But of course you have to keep the Celtic:Rangers ratio high rather than just picking the best available players.
-
Long overdue. Edit: Does this mean we can pick our best players again e.g. Boyd, Fergie, Shagger.

I actually sigh before even reading Andy's posts. You make out like you are the voice of reason and then take a line that is further from "reality" than the vast majority on here. Your skewed perspectives seem far more in line with a grossly biased press than that of more reasonable individuals. Like the journo's you're down playing the antics of the pitch invader. Why precisely? I'm not asking you to play it up. But he more than "ran past" the keeper. He struck out at him, however softly. And the fine is not just for what the individual did, but for the fact that crowd control was incompetent and could have allowed a much more serious offence to occur. In addition to the fact that the fine was for repeated breaches.

I was wondering if I was making a daft suggestion, maybe there was something I was missing. So good to see some agreement with the idea. To me it looks like an obvious "solution". Or at the very least it will make the readerships of these papers consider the veracity of certain stories and whether the accepted views of the different clubs are justified. Didn't realise the stories were old news by the time he found out. Opportunity missed. But I'm sure in the online forums these kind of contradictions and "errors" are highlighted, so lets use it to our advantage.

Looks like we're all agreed with that. I guess the thing now is to do it a manner befitting our club and not the pathetic love us, love us behaviour of our mhanky neighbours.

According to Totti, McGregor isn't that good. Thank christ we've got Marshall as back up eh? :fish:

True. I didn't really look to see if Milner was the only one though. It was just a thought that occured to when I heard that point mentioned watching the Brazil game and Milner is a player I like.
-
Look at Mourinho. In one game early in his Chelsea career he made all 3 subs at half time. They turned the game and won the match. On another day though, a player may have got injured and they'd have been down to ten man. A good change is only such when it works out, obviously. But sometimes you can make the right change and not get the right result. I think gisa has a point. Smith does seem to stick with players out of position when it clearly isn't working, such as Lafferty. But it appears all managers do it.
-
Could he not have taken said story to a rival paper e.g. the Sun? Do they not love printing digs at each other and deliberately omiting details from a police report would not look to great for the record's credibility would it?
-
I guess you realise now, when the rest of us wanted rid of Burley we didn't have it in for him and Scotland, we just feared where we saw him taking us. Problem is, if the last campaign wasn't enough to sack him or for him to walk, a friendly defeat (no matter how humiliating) wont do it either.
-
Aye, probably sums it up. Just funny what you "get away" with when you're winning compared to when you don't. And sometimes the only difference is luck.
-
Fabio Capello plays James Milner, who plays right mid for his club, at left midfield. In the last fixture prior to the Brazil game he finished the match at left back. Walter Smith gets pilloried for playing Lafferty (as one of numerous examples) "out of position". So what i'm wondering is, seeing as all mangers do this (see SAF playing Fergie out on the left often last year), is it acceptable when your winning and not when you aren't getting results then?

Not even read the story after the first line, McGregor on loan? Do one.
