For me there is just no way anyone can honestly argue that the other forwards "superior" team play makes up for and exceeds their deficiencies in goalscoring (in comparison to Boyd). I don't see how you honestly make the arguement that Miller, Lafferty, Novo or anyone else deserves to start ahead of him. He'll have games where he's like a man down, but then so do the others. Difference being he's still liable to score the match winning goal whilst playing poorly.

With such a small player pool and so few actually performing it's not really fucking hard is it? :sw: :wilson: :sp: :nn: :sd: :kt: :sn: :kb: :who gives a fuck: That's pretty much our strongest available line up unless Mendes/Boogie are available and even then it may be debatable. Other than that the wide right and left positions are up for grabs. Maybe Fleck could come in. Upfront it should always be Boyd and one other. Yes Boyd's team play is rank. But lets have a bit of honesty here, so is Novo's, Lafferty's and Miller's. At least he can still score whilst he's playing crap.

Didn't see the game, but again we play the "tried and trusted". Your Millers and Lafferty's. No Boyd. Shite result. I don't see how things can be any worse if yoiu play Boyd against the big boys. But it can certainly be better.

I think Boogie might struggle with a midfield role. Having a understanding of precisely where to position himself when we do and don't have the ball and how to connect with his team mates.

There was a really good tactical analysis of this Frankie on FF and why it made good sense. OF course every tactic has it's strengths and it's flaws. I got frustrated with it too as it means we never pick up the loose ball if we get the first ball out. That said a lot of top managers defend set peices this way. I'll try and find the original post I read, but assuming I can't will try an rehash the jist (sp) of it from memory.
