Will his career suffer the same as Riordan. Will he get a game ahead of Jan bla bla, McDonal, Samaras, that young boy from Boro (I think), Killen etc etc.

What were the attendances of the respective semi-finals and is there a break down by team available, seeing as our ever impartial press tried to blame slow sales for the second semi solely on Dundee united?

Transfer Window Closes on Monday 5pm - Any Business?
Super_Ally replied to Gribz's topic in Rangers Chat
Boyd, Bougherra Probably Mendes too. The rest are pretty much expendable imo, for varying reasons. I'm not saying I want anyone to go. Just the above 3 going would severely dent our title chances with no "ready-made" replacement in the squad. -
Was wondering about that? News to me. If so, good business to agree a relatively low fee for a potential transfer before his value could rise. I know if he doesn't play etc it wont affect his value, we wont be able to judge and numeorus other issues I haven;t described. My point is the business conducted was sound, even if the use of the player has not been.

Fair enough, had thought he was only really considered an LM. In any case, it was Eck who got pilloried for playing essentially a 4-2-4 as the wingers offer no support to the central 2 in midfield. Now we're asking to play that line up?
-
Don't agree at all. In the last 3/4 matches we have had attacking players out wide in Fleck or Naismith. As far as I am aware those 2 and Aaron are competing for the same position unless either of the Scots can earn a starting place in the front two. I don't believe Aaron plays wide right. Is he not known as a LM>

Well, yes, now that we've effectively made our financial situation public, the bidding team hold all the aces. However if we were a bit smarter on the transfer fund we could well have been looking at double that figure for AM. Last season he was rated at a potential £9mil signing and is beginning to regain that form. But as stated Bain and Murray have handed all the leverage in bargaining to the buying teams. -

I think we should be looking for more than £5-6 for the pair. WIth McGregor regaining form, I don't think it's unrealistic to expect that sum for him alone. -
It's easy to agree with much of what he says. However some of his comments show that his opinions are influenced from his own playing era. For example there are numerous players who "play in the hole" who were world class and would not put much stock in Drinkell's opinions.

I was not suprised Walter went for a negative 4-5-1, especially after Celtic got cuffed the week before. However, when it was clear that Aberdeen weren't capable of doing it two weeks in a row we should have changed formation and tactics and gone for the jugular!

Setting the Standard: Improving the Match-Day Experience
Super_Ally replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
That's a good point BD. I saw the original arguement and thought it was a bit of a selfish view point for other fans to have, though is probably quite prevalent. But if they share your thoughts they'll realise the negative impact on the team and their own enjoyment of football lessened. -
Obviously he's a bit shit. But from Killie's point of view; international experience. Bug guy - target man? Like nish?

I'd have been more than happy if we'd signed none of the first 4, they have not really made a positive contribution between them. Ok Miller started well, but we won the OF because of Cousin and you will not convince me that Novo or Boyd would not have profited at least equally as well from Cousin's display. The second band of players I am quite happy with, even if Davis is slightly off the boil atm, he's still contributing assists and goals and that wins games. £9m on 3 duds and a player who is a lesser version of a certain Spaniard already on the books. But because Smith has a hard-on for Kenny Miller we get lumbered with him anyway. Instead of these donkeys we could have looked for one £5mil player, retained £4mil so not having to force out a star player and been better off financially and likely on the field too.

Cal did we get a £300,000 fee for Burke? Thought it was a freebie.

Gordon Smith. Good. Sandi Thom, no my thing but sure it will go down well. Bull Copeland you reliably inform us is a funny comedian. And then Ewen and Roughie included as main attractions. They so nrealy got it all right.- 18 replies

Rangers 3 : 0 Falkirk - Player Ratings and MoM Poll
Super_Ally replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Aye didn't consider that. Just making the point for the guys who were asking. Ibrox is a large pitch too though. Anyways wont divert the topic of conversation any longer. -

Does the Hampden pitch perhaps look bigger due to all the space between the pitch and the stands. Optical illusion? -
Leicester last night. And I had Peterborough instead initially!!! Tiem to give up I think.

Mendes, Novo and McGregor stand outs. In a semi final the only concern is winning the game and after a dodgy opening spell, where McGregor made some cracking saves, it was never in doubt. Professional display from the team. Many positives, though the defence must concentrate for the full 90 minutes. Novo must retain his place. Probably the same team should/will start at the weekend. Though Fleck has as much of a claim to the left mid spot as Naismith. -
Got the top one on FF and from just after Novo's first (typical) the picture came on and has been perfect.

Game might be here. But don't rely on it. Any other links?

Noone gets that far. This idea has been around for a ,long time in various formats. Plus I dont think the bookies will even allow you to place the final bet, certainly not on my online account, due to maximum stakes/payouts.

Fair do's? But if we'd got a return of £120k on a guy who's scored a CL goal against Porto, perhaps our finances wouldn;t look so bleak (obviously extrapolating this over all transfers). But then perhaps that's the point. It's not bringing youngsters on and moving on the one's who aren't quite good enough, but Bain's negotiating skills (yet again) that's the problem. Look at Man U and guys like Eagles who don;t make it at Man U but are sold for a reasonable fee. If we did this our youth set up could pay for itself whilst we retain the Fergies, Flecks and McGregors.

How did I forget Lafferty. Quite agree with your second paragraph, but as been said a million times, that's the kind of progressive forward thinking our club is incapable of. We are very poor atm on the striker front, Boyd aside (and many aren't happy with hime either). Yet again, regardless of the title outcome, we have another summer of clear outs ahead.
