Whats the current situation with transfers then? Naismith - Low bid, expect to be improved this week. Estimated cost £1-1.5 mil. McCulloch - We want him, he wants to come, we cant afford him. Wigan reportedly want £4 mil. Webster - Waiting on the Hearts/Wigan transfer wrangle to be sorted out. £650k Cuellar - Rumoured interest. £2 mil. Mido - FF rumour. Fee ? Can we afford all of the above and would that complete our squad for next season? If not who/what else do we need? Edit: Mido fee is rumoured to be £2.5 mil according to the ET. Also link us with Torino's Rosina. 23 year old attacking midfielder.

Fair enough. Although the mhanks are building a training facility, a cheaper Murray Park essentially. But I don't think that would leave the facilities to far behind.
-
Take out Boyd and you really wonder where the goal threat will come from. Hopefully Gow and Darcheville will suprise me, although it will be less of a suprise in Gow's case. Not sure he'll scare european defences though.

Been out of the loop for the weekend so first i've heard of this. Excellent player when i've seen him for Spurs, but many question his attitude. Can't see him coming up here?
-
You saying he's a tim but would come to us over Celtic?
-
Aye, its a shame that. But it should just be a case of picking the best players irrespective of the club you play for.
-
I put in the caveat that it was my team when all were fit and on form. I didn't mean that was the team I would play next Wednesday. I was thinking more the team I would play perhaps a few months into the new season. However new faces may be in the reckoning come that time.

And yet you've only removed two Rangers players. Webster who was an established Scotland international until injury and the Hearts/Wigan debacle and McManus is an overrated thug. Naysmith at the minute is fair enough, however he isn't a guaranteed starter at Everton and when Smith is fit and playing regular, he'll be pushing hard for a start. Would likely have been capped already if he hadn't got injured. Miller is absolutely no threat as a striker and doesn't play well with Boyd. If we're playing two up Miller just doesn't count. O'Connor last night made a case for playing and McFadden is one of the few players we have who will make something from nothing. You've barely changed my team at all and accused me of having blue tinted specs?

It's often commented on Rangers sites that we used to be regularly chastised in the press for a lack of a contribution to national squads, yet now we have improved the number of Scots starting the press often fail to mention it. Last night 6 bears contributed to a Scottish victory. Ok it was a friendly and poor opposition, but a win away is a good result for us. Lets not get carried away with our current ranking which is really a bit high. Starters McGregor - Debut. Hardly troubled but a confident display, coming for balls which will in turn breed confidence in the defence. Admitted himself he is unlikely to displace Gordon, even if CG has a slump in form. Regardless competition for the number one spot is good for Scotland. Weir - Best CB Scotland has. Enough said. Shame he doesn't have much time left. Fergie - Captain. First pick. Time and again the only man who can live at international level with almost any team, with the possible exception of Fletcher. Boyd - Linked well with O'Connor, setting up his goal. Pleasantly suprised by the partnership as I though O'Connor was a poor man's Boyd, but GO played off Boyd well. Missed two good chances (the overhead was unlucky imo, poor contact but hard to get on the end of) and a third which should've been a goal, no excuses. Subs Hutton - Going on last nights performance by Alexander, Alan should've started. Best RB we have available. Well deserved debut, although Eck erred by not giving him the full game imo. Adam - Good debut season with Rangers, rewarded with a debut at international level. Short time to impress. Again, why not use a friendly to learn more about the guys who have yet to play at this level and will be available to the national set up for the next decade at least? The Celtic contribution Caldwell started and was one of the worst players on the field. Constantly giving away needless free kicks. Too naive for an international performance. Nearly cost us a goal, losing his man late on to bullet a header off the bar. Hartley came on RM, lacked discipline playing with no width and moving into the middle all the time. Would make it hard for the RB with a lack of cover and his captain's effectiveness was limited as he had to move to the right to cover for Hartley. Very poor, on form he should not be in the squad. Poor for over a year. McManus is probably better than Caldwell, should maybe have started. Came on late on to shore up the middle of the park. No time to have a real impact. Now bearing in mind if Smith can regularly recapture his pre-injury form consistently he should be a starter, and the Webster at Hearts was a national pick and the future for the national team and Rangers is looking very bright. My Scotland team when all are fit and on form would be: Gordon Hutton Weir Webster Smith Brown Fergie Fletcher McCulloch Boyd McFadden Subs McGregor Anderson Naysmith Quashie O'Connor

Cheers. Is that pretty much top dog in the SFA?
-
Little difference. I would give the edge to them though. Broadfoot will likely be a bit part player, looking to next season with Ehiogu and Weir away. Darcheville is a bit of a gamble so we'll have to wait and see. I expect Killen and McDonald to push for a starting slot immediately. Brown will be a certain starter improving their midfield with the guys leaving. Hottest property in Scotland and they picked him up.
-
Btw is this that idiot McBeth's old job?
-
Was top scorer til injury. Big target man. Put two by us in one game although that was when we had the likes of BH and KS at the back (may not have been these two specifically). Couldn't win a header and they bullied the hell out of us. But now we have the likes of Weir, Ehiogu and Webster to pick from he wouldn't concern me.
-
That would worry me, only guy up here I actually enjoy listening to on tv/radio.
-
Thought O'Connor looked really good. Always willing to come and look for the ball. Very impressed even if it was a friendly. Found out Alexdander is like 36! Another reason why Hutton should be getting more than like 20 minutes. Get him experience now and we could have our RB for the next decade. Hartley was fucking atrocious. Put on at RM but refused to stay on the right, complete lack of discipline with Fergie being pulled out to the left to cover his arse several times, meaning he couldn't have his usual influence in the middle. Fletcher was eventually swapped out right. WHy Hartley is even in the squad on the form of at least the last 12 months is beyond me? Wasted friendly. Could've got Hutton a full 90.

Looks like that team has been confirmed on bbc: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/6696543.stm Shambolic. How can the form player of the country over the last half season not start?
-
Bloody farcical. We already know that Dailly's shit so if we're gonna just play the experienced guys why pick this dud aead of Weir. Hutton is better than Alexander on form as well and its a friendly so it woudl be daft not to give him the experience.
-
How beleivable is a story from arsedup?
-
Absolutely disgraceful. Maybe the PSV fans will catch up with these lads and give them a hiding.
-
Good team. I don't rate McManus and would rather have Anderson there, but he is obviously not rated at international level and will have to settle for a back up place.
-
Hopefully Celtic and a.n.other get knocked out and then we'll move into pot 3.
-
As others have said, pay-as-you-play only.
-
Noone in the 2nd qualifyinmg round should worry us, the third qualifying round looks a little tougher, suprisingly enough.
-
Dunno much about him and if he goes to PSG probably wont find out anything about him.
-
Well based on PLG's other signings, Nilsson will likely be shit so dodged another PLG fired bullet there.:uzi:
