  1. Persoanlly I'd rather defenders marked opponents rather than spaces. Spaces aren't going to score goals. Having Hemdani sweeping in a flat back 4 is playing with 10 men and we'll concede plenty of goalscoring opportunities to the opposition.
  2. So Pete Svensson and the FB's have to defend, as do the four midfielders, but Hemdani can stand around scratching his arse in case the ball breaks loose or one of the other doesn't do their job? You're right. The team needs to defend as a whole. From the defence through to the attack. But this includes Hemdani and imo in a 4-4-2 there is no place for a "sweeping" role. Go simple. Two upfront, have the two CB's pick 'em up. I still fail to understand this need for staunch defence of Hemdani's inability to play as a CB yet other players who do their job and do it well can't slaughtered. (Disclaimer I know Hemdai is just playing where the manager asks hime too, but persisting with him at CB will cost us points.)
  3. Pete tho there has already been evidence of improved hold up play in some games by Boyd, so why not allow our only striker with a genuine goalscoring threat the same breathing space we allow others, while we see if PLG can develop this more. Goalscoring is an inate ability, I however beleive hild up play can be taught.
  4. Sorry still balls. Sweeper with only 1 other CB? What if the opposition decide to play to an area where Svensson is not because he is marking one of the other attackers? Perhaps we should ask the other SPL teams to only play high balls to the man Svensson is marking, then we can start talking this nonsense. You cannot right off the fact that Hemdani will lose 100% of headers because he passes well. In a 4-4-2 both CB's have to be good in the air. Hemdani cannot dodge his responsibility. I know he is playing out of position and that is why we need a new CB.
  5. FFers claiming it was a dive by Gordon. But many of them are a bizarre lot.
  6. 2 points dropped. Was gonna post a thread saying I didn't expect them dropping anything til their next "hard" game, arguably Hearts away. So happy enough, tho should've been 3 dropped.
  7. This is getting pretty tedious now. Our improved performance coincided with a few factors: 1) Change in formation, striker playing with a partner, more width and cover for the FB's. 2) Change in style of play, e.g pressing from the front. 3) The defence have been more settled recently 4) Svensson has adapted to the Scottish game more over recent games 5) Boyd has been injured. There may be more. However atm it is impossible to say which of these have had the greatest influence. If and when Boyd plays in a 4-4-2 we may have a greater idea. So can people stop coming on and saying its all Boyd's fault we were playing badly, now he's out we're better. Becasue frankly that is shite, you cannot make and prove that point atm.
  8. Why is Hemdani exonerated from blame in the air? What a ridiculous post. Both centre backs have to win the ball in the air and the only one doing that is Svensson. You can't just say "oh cz Hemdani can pass a nice ball is doesn't need to win any headers." Nobody will have told this to out opposition, who wont play a ball in the air to the man Hemdani is marking. Absolutely bemused by this current trend in Rangers fans of thinking only one centre back has to be able to head the ball.
  9. If we've got 2.5 mil for a midfielder could we not use that for a proven SPL centre back. I'm sure you could get Anderson for less than half that. And before nayway starts with Rangers class etc, I'm llooking at getting in a guy who will shore up our defence for the league campaign and believe he's the best man for the job.
  10. Do agree they are taking it to far. No standing, no having fun etc etc. But if we cut out the *** and TBB, we can sing what we like. Sing Rangers songs. Create a great atmosphere and giru McChonnel, media etc.
  11. Think you need to "wise up". What exactly are you? Pro Bigotry and pro-sectarianism, and therefore for dragging the name of our club through the mud?
  12. God it's depressing reading anything you post.
  13. Brown and Thompson available at a price! Is this the first time that has been said? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/h/hibernian/6199499.stm 5th paragraph
  14. Definitely seems to suit our players better. Looking at how we were playing and how we are now, it seems obvious we don't have the players to play 4-2-3-1 effectively.
  15. That's a good point actually Barry, McGregor does punch sometimes, in fact quite a lot in recent matches. But when he does he gets it well away from the danger area so I have no problem with that. The keeper can't always catch.
  16. Good news seeing as our biggest goal threat with him out is Hemdani.
  17. Another telling point is the number of texts along the bottom that are pro-Celtic or anti-Rangers. Frankly some of the views they choose to broadcast are embarassing. Joke of a programme. I watched our highlights, wanted to see the deflection in Hemdani's shot as I failed to notice it on first viewing, then immediately switched it off. Load of crap.
  18. Think he is getting a raw deal. Don't think he's playing any worse than the much heralded Craig Gordon atm. Look at Gordon's recent balls up, pushing the ball into his own net v the tims. I also think Alan McGregor would have held the shot that Gordon spilled straight to Lovell for Aberdeen to nick the win this weekend. So thats two from the supposed best keeper in Scotland I hardly see any Hearts football each weekend compared to watching every minute of Gers home games and telvised aways. Also watching the highlights of the OF I think Boruc made probably two good saves. The tip round the post from Novo and the shot from Svensson, although that one was perfect for the keeper to make look spectacular. They love those kinds of shots. So lets not be too hard on AM and not let the Dhims make out AB is in Goram's class as many are trying to suggest recently.
  19. If Didot turns out to be any good then that's a start. Him in and Le tit and Rodriguez out. But sign a bloody CH.
  20. Been watching this on and off online. Taylor scored a belter agan.
  21. Aye Feyenoord were the standouts I w$anted to avoid.
  22. Transfer window hasn't even opened yet, never mind closed so calm down. Yes Pressley would improve our defence atm. But so would plenty of others. If the Tims tied up Pressley now and then we bought, for arguements sake, Anderson when the windon opened I know who I would consider to have done the better business. Whilst I have been pro Pressley signing we have to remmeber he isn't actually that good and has his limitations. Unfortunatly that is the current reality of our situation. Looking at Svensson I feel he will definitely become a better player than Elvis ever was, but we need to give him time and maybe get a Scottish bruiser to help him through whilst he gets to grips with Scottish fitba'.

  24. Re: the 6 CB's. If we sort out the defence then imo Hemdani becomes a midfielder again. Hemdani is never a CB anyway. If the rumours of shifting J-Rod come to anything that would be four; Svensson, Papac, Pressley and Anderson. Not bad. Fat chance of all that happening tho. You are right though. If we could just get the CB's sorted we'd have the makings of a good team.
  25. I am fully aware of the problems of Murray chasing the dream, but if we matched Pressley's reputed wages at Hearts of 6k, is this not a relative pittance on a 6 month contract. I would still advocate going for Anderson though. But 6k for a player who we can have more confidence in performing than any of the CB's we've signed from outwith Scotland sounds good business to me. I mean, wouldn't an untested in Scotland foreign "star" demand at least 12k plus a transfer and signing on fee. I think we hvae to consider the short term fix available here.
