  1. Admitting your ignorance of other sports, football aside, does not devalue said sports. Many sports do not make people a millionaire, but the Olympics can still be the single, or one of the main achievements in that sport. "Aubrey" Harrison won a gold medal in amateur boxing, was poor in professional boxing, but will still be a multi-millionaire from boxing without winning the world title. Football is possibly the only example where representing your country at the Olympics is way down the pecking order. But it probably doesn't count for many sports and in many cases is irrelevant. For these professional sports people, it is the opportunity to say they represented their country at the Olympics and therefore monetary gain is irrelevant.
  2. Much like the Celtic fans then it doesn't make the press. Only when its Rangers.
  3. Difference is, as Stewarty said, Ally picked a couple of obvious example off the top of his head. Not all were pro Celtic were they? If the mhanky club commented they would specifically only pick perceived pro Rangers decisions as it suits there warped view of the word. Edit: Also Lennon and Celtic are happier now that the system is less transparent, has no obvious regulation and appears more partial (anti Rangers/pro Celtic). No wonder they are happy.
  4. The TA will turn against him? Plays for Rangers, they already don't like him. Also the comment BD quoted about "had" a bright future cracked me up too. Like the TA or Husband influence that at all.
  5. Celtic fans I assume? If so why was it not stated?
  6. On what grounds was it reduced?
  7. What if we want to disrespectfully disagree?
  8. I dont think the appeal will be succesful. Depite the fact that if they are to be consistent he should get away with it (maybe not by the exact letter of the law, but based on the way the SPL have previously handled incidents like O'Connor and Samaras). However, the way this has been whipped up amongst our media the outcry would be deafening of they did not continue to treat Rangers unevenly and hence I expect the punishment to stand.
  9. I dont see how the response previously of 5000 can be described as a success. It's a tiny minority in the grand scheme of all fans attending and watching Scottish football. I'm not a fan of this in general but as it will purport to represent the views of the average Scottish fan we need to ensure as many Rangers respondents as possible. Whilst it will likely represent a tiny minority of fans it wont stop people (media, politicians, those in charge of our football) potentially paying it more attention than they should. As such we need to ensure as much of a Gers influence on it as possible.
  10. People dont always go down at the initial contact, especially if they're trying to keep their feet. Not saying that happened this time, but whether or not the fall immediately is not in the rule book as far as i'm aware.
  11. And by the same logic is more offensive than Fenian (they also describe themselves as such). Not that you'd know it from the way things are treated in Scotland.
  12. Hang on. If the ref had a clear view and gave it, why are they even looking at it? I thought the remit was only to look at things refs missed or issues of serious foul play. Shouldn't even be looking at it, especially when most other teams get away with worse week in week out.
  13. Do you support the rugby team? An awful lot of "foreigners" have played there. Hines for Scotland. Is Parks too? And many more before. The Welsh RFU have picked a number of foreigners. As have England with Lorenzo Bruno Nero Delaglio, and more recently the likes of Tuilagi and Hape. The English cricket team and one point had a number of Welsh, Irish and South African players. Their best players recetnly have been SAffers. The Scottish football team has of course picked a number of Englishman in Goram etc. Though it does appear to be slightly more unacceptable in football with only those who have a very strong family link accepted. The German team at the world cup recently had a lot of decent players from Poland in Klose and Podolski, Turkey in Ozil and there was a Mexican too. Its hard to see where the line should be drawn on this.
  14. I've been on through the internet on my samsung galaxy and it works perfectly.
  15. Dont bother me overly. I read any that have a title that interests me, much like any other threads on the site.

  17. Shouldn't the bs coming from Celtic/the catholic church etc be offensive to our media and politicians? When they attack us and say Scotland is a horrible bigotted wee country when all the information and statistics suggest otherwise why aren't our journo's commenting on this and defending Scotland and saying what a pile of steaming shite it is?
  18. In stories where celts are the target do they draw upon example involving Gers like this: I dont think they do and hence I dont see the relevance of Lennon etc here.
  19. If only this were published in one of the national papers or on tv or something. We need some people who don't make a living (or gain something) from overhyping what is in fact quite a negligible issue in Scotland to be commenting on the "sectarian issue".
  20. Looking to play them v Hamburg. Could be interesting.
  21. I'll tell you what's even less surprising. When I saw you were the last to comment in here I knew it would be you bashing leggo. More tedious than he is?
  22. - Quite a few members don't read all the forums and only read the main Rangers one. - It's not unusual that most people are only motivated to comment on items specifically relating to their team. - Many posters dont comment on many/all of the topics anyway. - There will be any number more reasons why people couldn't be bothered/didn't want to comment.
  23. Best be a win this weekend or suddenly the title race is massively back on (I know it is anyway but suddenly there would be a big mommentum shift). 1-3 Rangers.
  24. Reporting on all this is a little bit odd and a bit confusing and McCoist's most recent comments are even more cryptic. However I think there are two certainties here. 1. Aluko's family didn't pay from their "life savings". Never believed this in any case, however it would have seemed a bit odd and perhaps even reflect poorly if it had come to that. 2. The more important point in my mind and the one craig has particularly commented on a few times since the story arose. The fact that Aluko has had to pay significant compensation to push through a move to our club shows he is seriously committed to making a success of this move. He is paying out possibly into tens of thousands of pounds to join us for half a season with no guarantees of an extension. Aluko has demonstrated something a little unusual in this day and age of football and that is that he is more interested in making a success of himself as a footballer than in collecting ££££. Now, sure the two will go hand in hand, achieve the former to gain the latter. And it is perhaps a case of short term loss for long term financial gain. But again, this is not guaranteed and I think it demonstrates an excellent attitude from the young lad.
  25. Was at work today from 6a.m til just after 9 p.m. Seems like you guys did a good job of winding them up/showing them up in my absence though. Love the fact that they completely missed the sarcasm of it all. Are they really that thick? Hopefully though it didn't just draw in the bitter ones and we drew a few more bears to the site. Fun as it was winding them up. Some of the comments are top notch.
