I'm not so convinced it's as easy as say drop Davie Weir and success will automatically follow. He's the captain of our club and despite his faults (which have never changed since he joined by the way) his influence is still an important one. If we played Bougherra and Bartley would we have the same guidance and discipline at the back we have with Weir? Would Bougherra be able to support the attack as much as he does? Would Bartley provide the threat in the opposition box he brings? Weir hasn't been great of late but he's still had as good (or as bad) a season as everyone else. I actually agree that we should be phasing him out (Sunday's match would have been a good test for a new central pairing) but what happens when Bougherra is inevitably suspended for several games in April/May? Would Weir's ageing body be able to react to the same intensity as a result of not playing as regular (after all he already doesn't train as much as the rest of the team)? All in all, like I say, it's not as simple as saying drop Weir and we'll win the SPL.

Glad you had a good time and a safe trip mate... Let's hope you can make Dublin in May...

I'd imagine that even if McGregor wanted to stay, he'll still be sold to free up finance for: a) new players if we win the league and qualify for the CL or b) reduce the debt if we lose the league and/or don't qualify for the CL. I'd hope we'd get more than £4million for the lad but another meek surrender in the transfer market won't surprise me.

Why would Whyte have a deadline? If he's interested then he's interested and it would probably suit him to wait a bit longer and get the club cheaper if we go backwards financially.

Rangers 2 - 1 Kilmarnock: Player Ratings and MoM Poll
Frankie replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Yeah, I never heard who the sponsors gave it to now you mention it. Bartley did well and really does look a decent player actually. Obviously Weir had less of an attacking influence on the game than Bougherra or Bartley but he was really solid at the back and his passing was largely pretty good. It's a joke that we're again discussing defenders as MotM though. -
Rangers reduce deficit to Celtic with laboured victory at home to average Killie outfit. http://www.gersnetonline.co.uk/2010/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=381:rangers-2-1-kilmarnock-player-ratings-and-mom-poll&catid=35:analysis&Itemid=67 Not a great range of players to choose from but whatever Weir did he did pretty well for the most part so I'll give him the award. Cap is doffed to Bougherra who worked extremely hard and Weiss who came on to create the winning goal. Dirty look is given to management team for such a defensive team and less than speedy response to gutless performance from many players.

Absolutely - but our support could pressurise. Unfortunately, that is about as likely as the home crowd singing a few songs or our manager attacking opposition teams.

Both could make Thursday and I believe Broadfoot is also nearing a comeback while McCulloch is ahead of schedule as well.

TBO are easy targets as we're the only people who sing at Ibrox. As such, if anyone does step out of line, arrests are easy. All for the sake of a few naughty words. Meanwhile, one Killie fans stands up and calls us all English barstewards and nothing is done. Who's kidding who here?

It's a fair article from Traynor as it does ask a few difficult questions. But it doesn't ask them hard enough.

Nope, I'd fancy that is Strathclyde Police generally but yesterday was a joke.

David Martin is the former police who works with us as security advisor. Given ACPOS refuse to publish a list of proscribed songs/terms/chants, I don't know who appointing a former copper would help us with bigotry problems.

With Miller leaving, McGregor is the only credible option so it's bizarre that guys like Davis and Papac have appeared instead of him.

Just homophobic...

Always happy to pass the baton on mate - fire away; I'll take another game!

One or two errors aside, that's not a bad article. Some sense at last.

We're all well aware that Lafferty is inconsistent and my own patience has probably worn out with the lad. However, we're seriously short of mobility and any sort of pace up front so the return of the big man should help out in that regard. Will he be the answer or win us the title? I don't know but his availability will aid us more than it will hinder us that's for sure.

Old Firm Response To Summit and Full Summit Statement
Frankie replied to Rangers Football Club's topic in Rangers Chat
Got it in one guys... To make matters worse failed (and discredited) organisations like Nil by Mouth are given more public money to waste to ensure the same people get round the same tables and spout the same rubbish that hasn't worked. Stopping people drinking for a few hours and changing a football match kick-off time will hardly stop a social disease of which football supporting is only one very small symptom of. Sectarianism is a blight on this country but in my opinion it is grossly exaggerated by politicians who need something to deflect from more serious problems. Meanwhile you have bizarre 'journalists' that love nothing more than to stir the pot and adding to the tension while never offering impartial solutions themselves. The bottom line much of the anti-sectarianism campaign in this country is nothing more than an sham to make people money or score political points when it suits. That's more shameful than a few people of whatever background singing a few songs with nasty words. -
Good luck mate...

I think that's a positive way of looking at it but we're already restricted to agents hawking their wares so he may just encourage more of the same. Signing players is a risky business no matter how much hard work you do. You do need a bit of luck as well as good judgement so we can only hope we have both ahead of a summer which will probably see big changes in our playing squad; irrespective if we win the title or not. Given it is our continuity that has helped us win the last two leagues (and cheating refs obviously), losing that stability is a big blow for next season. If, as seems probable, the likes of McGregor, Davis and/or Bougherra are moved on, we'll have to ensure their replacements are not only cheaper but just as effective if we're to remain truly competitive. Winning the title/qualifying for the CL will obviously help but even then we won't be guaranteed enough money to replace those who leave. For example; Bartley, Foster, Weiss, Healy and Diouf will all leave irrespective of any other potential sales. The appointment of these guys will be key to McCoist getting off to a good start.

Yep, the article says as much...

Not very imaginative or exciting but I guess our budget doesn't allow for that. Good luck lads anyway!

It is interesting that McBride was on Radio Scotland last night. Was any capacity given for his appearance?

I just noticed it today mate but assumed you had posted and published it... Apologies for missing it.
