To be honest Danny, I don't think Davis has impressed to a great degree centrally anyway. Most of his best work has been done on the right although I do concede that's possibly because he's simply played there more often than his preferred central role. As such, when he does get moved inside now and again, he's perhaps not as effective as he would be if he played there regularly. Should be an attacking team tomorrow anyway - unless Whittaker is moved forward.
-
Looks like Ness will be making way then if we do opt for a four man midfield. Does this mean two wingers (ala December last season) or Whittaker pushed forward to accommodate Bartley/Foster?
-
Your comments about DJ may not be entirely wrong, rbr. The place you've made them arguably is. This is a thread to wish the fella well - not one to highlight his failings.
-
Absolutely. Diouf had got back to help cover Papac and was still the only Rangers player to close Brown down given Edu/Davis were sitting too deep and both ball-watching. However, I'm sure this has been communicated to them by better people than me in the last week.
-
Two of them stood and watched while Scott Brown received the ball and set himself to curl the equaliser home last Sunday... The same two were also culpable when an unmarked Lasley equalised at Hampden the week before.

The SPL are a joke but that's nothing new mate...

Interesting mate but we've been up against under strength teams lately at Ibrox (Celtic and Hearts to name but two) and have still struggled to put them under the cosh.
-
Unfortunately I think it will be another struggle but we should have enough in our locker to win a tight game: Rangers 2 - 1 Motherwell Jelavic Naismith
-
Motherwell one done...

There's a big difference between hypocritically cheering a fantastic former player who does let himself and our cub down in the media and offering a fantastic former player some well wishes in a time of ill-health.

Opta have said on Twitter these are not their stats and question their authenticity.

Papac represents himself so is probably just taking a few weeks to think it over amongst some difficult matches. Not sure if it is affecting his form/attitude but his level has definitely dropped of late. As such, he won't be able to go back and ask for more anyway...
-
We all thought that before the Celtic game and that was with Jelavic playing... A 4-5-1 is absolutely fine by me but if we don't support the striker and our midfield/full-backs sit too deep, then it soon becomes difficult to retain possession in forward areas. That's what happened against Celtic and the lack of work-rate in our midfield has been evident for far too long to be confident of it changing anytime soon.
-
Despite his recent poor form I'd rather we kept Papac as he's experienced, pretty consistent and usually an able performer. No idea of the wage he'll be after but I doubt it would be much in comparison with having to sign a new player.
-
Without Jelavic and with Miller gone means I doubt we have the quality up front to cause many teams problems in the Europa Cup this season. Lafferty's touch is not the best and Healy won't be used as a lone front man so really unsure how we'll be able to do anything other than park the bus and hope to nick goals again. Depressing but true. EDIT: Forgot about Diouf so let's turn the frowns upside down!

He's already been to Oxford. What will happen here is that he'll probably keep training with us a few days a week as well as Falkirk. We're doing the same with Archie Campbell who is on loan to Cowdenbeath.
-
I'm sure he could be recalled immediately if required.

For one month in the first instance. Good move for him. http://www.falkirkfc.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=5191&Itemid=2

This is what happens when you don't maintain your stadium and defend deep against teams with 10 men....
-
This is the game we'll do well in given we're probably the underdog...
-
Sorry, typo - I actually meant finesse...
-
I don't think Bougherra has the touch and finesse required to play midfield... At the back, he can hoof it when required or, given the time and space, make a run forward. Meanwhile his strength and size make for a decent defender. I don't think playing him further forward would improve his contribution and would prefer to play Hutton there if we must use such a player.

Lennon - I told Diouf to shut it & Naismith's a cheat
Frankie replied to johnnyk's topic in Rangers Chat
I think they lack a self-belief as opposed to quality - possibly caused by a manager who allows them to play too defensively too often. We had the right players on Sunday but we sat back and didn't control the game. I can understand defending a lead against a strong Celtic XI. But doing so against an average Celtic X, can only be put down to no confidence in their own abilities. With every passing game it appears the management team are incapable of solving this. It's frustrating as when we play well, attack and at pace; we cause the opposition (any opposition including Celtic and Valencia to name but two) no end of problems. Sometimes the mental challenge is bigger than the physical one. Someone phone Uri!!!
