We missed him when he went off last night and given others in midfield have been playing worse than him then we'll miss him over the next few weeks as well. Time for Naismith, Edu and Davis in particular to pick up the baton.
-
Yep, contract terminated by mutual consent. He'll sign for Hearts probably.
-
We've already struggled to score against Hearts this season so Jelavic will be a miss. However, a great opportunity for Diouf to really annoy more people!
-
Even the club don't seem to know if it's a hamstring or groin strain. No matter, I think he'll miss tomorrow and Sunday now at least.
-
Calm down. It's just a paper formation - Weiss and Naismith regularly swap positions throughout most games; from each wing and/or a more attacking central role.
-
I'm quite confused today. I'm seeing Totti being positive about a couple of signings and others being negative... Swapping logins is against the rules...
-
Wasn't the case with Wilson who was even less experienced than Bartley before he played so well last season for us. Like you, I doubt anyone will make way for the lad but he should provide more reliable back-up than Webster did (or didn't)...

January 2011 Transfer Window - Healy, Diouf and Bartley IN
Frankie replied to stewarty's topic in Rangers Chat
Because they don't decide - Arsenal do - and the Blades wouldn't want to risk future loans for the sake of this player. -
Healy doesn't enthuse me at all. I'd have thought that getting rid of Beattie (temporarily at least) was a lesson learned to avoid such players but no, we sign another declining player with his best years behind him. Sure, Healy may represent a decent option from the bench but I can't see him playing all that much. At least he didn't cost anything and his wage relatively low.
-
The one good (or bad) thing about our squad is that many players are versatile enough to play across the pitch. As such, while I've posted that team as a 4-4-2; in real terms it is probably more of a 4-5-1 with Naismith, Diouf and Weiss all interchanging their roles and all slightly behind Jelavic for the most part. That leaves two holding players for the manager to pick and while Davis has been poor, Edu unreliable fitness wise, Ness inexperienced and McCulloch struggling to last 90mins, we still have good variety and depth for the central roles. Defensively we've not been great this season so I'd hope Bartley plays his part and with so many games coming up, I'm certain he will.

Not sure as the deal was for 12 months. Aberdeen's loss I'd imagine. -

Foster won't be anywhere near what Velicka was on. A few grand at most for Foster and I doubt Aberdeen would have been paying much of Velicka's wage in any case. -
OK then gentlemen - the window has shut again for another season and we've managed to keep the bulk of our squad together for our SPL title challenge. To that end, what would now be your preferred first XI? Do we stick with the experience of Weir and McCulloch or do we sacrifice their influence for the freshness of youth? Post your preferred first XI now! :sw: :mb: :sp: :ehd: :sd: :me: :vw: :sn: :nj: Yummy!

Off the field we're struggling mate but I think we've just strengthened on the field which is why I'm feeling a bit more positive. Sure loan deals only emphasise the short term nature of our operations nowadays but we needed competition for places and I think we've got a bit more of that with these signings. I think Diouf is particularly interesting. Sure his background is a bit distasteful but it will be good to have such a player in our team instead of nice guys who pull out of 50/50 challenges more often than not. -

We needed to improve/refresh our squad and we've done that - 'repugnant creatures' on loan or not. Also removing the ineffective Webster, Velicka and a few young lads means we've probably saved some money as well. It's all good! -

No more business tonight folks Glad we've supplemented the squad - not sure about the quality and long term nature of the signings. -

The supporters groups don't have the will or the clout to challenge anything. The Assembly are reliant on a friendly board while the Trust have minimal credibility amongst the rank and file... No-one will listen unless the right person blows the whistle.

Again, much of what you write could be argued to be correct but making the analysis isn't the difficult thing. Invoking the required change is. I wondered if big Smudger would listen to the worries of fans and be prepared to name and shame? Unfortunately he's probably got too much to lose and I can't think of any other alternative.

Would you let the current board run your business?
Frankie replied to Stimpy's topic in Rangers Chat
Beattie was nothing but a panic signing given it looked as if the Jelavic deal was off. -
I think people appreciate that what he has written is true. The problem is there is not only a lack of appetite for protest but no sign of anyone taking up the baton to change this. We need someone credible as a focal point to air our grievances publicly. No such person exists in my view.

The only logic is that the club want/are being forced into saving more money because they fear for their financial future without CL football. The problem is that Celtic appear more financially capable which is a worry.
