  1. I'm sure we could all make the odd individual change - Lafferty for Fleck, Edu for McCulloch, Webster for Weir etc etc. However, we simply must take the game to Hearts and start to show opposition teams our strengths instead of our weaknesses.
  2. I don't know what King's personal wealth is but £30million is a lot for anyone given that's the supposed price for Rangers and no-one has bought it...
  3. Sounds like positive news but having just paid out nearly £30million to SARS, will he be able to up his alleged offer for Rangers? He's had a lot to say on the subject in the last year. We'll soon see why.
  4. Once again on Tuesday night we were pedestrian for long spells, didn't work hard enough off the ball and key players refused to take responsibility for their duties in the team. All too often we're reliant on our defenders to make the play and don't have enough creative options in the team to keep the opposition guessing. We also don't have any real pace in the side and, McGregor aside, we've not been convincing defensively. Meanwhile Hearts have looked pretty good. Strong at the back via Zaliukas (a player I especially admire) and Bouzid; mobile and physical in midfield via Black and Jonsson; and various options in attack with Templeton, Skacel, Elliot and Kyle. Add in the ever volatile Tynecastle atmosphere, then our work is cut out for us this weekend. Of course, despite the late, late win there in early October, we'd did play pretty well and if it wasn't for their 'keeper, would have won much more easily. As ever, with this Rangers team one just doesn't know which Rangers XI will turn up: Will it be the fluent attacking one, full of creativity and forward play (including two strikers, two wide men and Davis played centrally) or will it be the frightened defensive one (including one striker, one wide player, Davis out wide and two holding midfielders)? One thing is for sure, it should be a cracking game. May I be the first to call for Walter to take off the shackles and let our team show why we're still the best in Scotland! Throw down the gauntlet with this team: :sw: :mb: :sp: :vw: :sd: :lm: :sn: :nj: :jf: Attacking, dangerous but still flexible enough to pull Fleck into midfield if required. Lafferty may be a better option in that case but on the tight Gorgie pitch, guile and finesse will be required to get past Hearts. I can't wait!
  5. Wylde has done well when called upon. More of a winger than Smith was, he certainly has pace, works hard and puts in a good cross ball. Sure, he's definitely raw and his decision-making less than impressive but I'd like to see him a bit more given we do lack options on the left.
  6. Has been doing the rounds lately but I sincerely doubt it. If we were to sign him, then we'd do so now on the cheap.
  7. http://www.gersnetonline.co.uk/2010/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=359:rangers-1-0-inverness-ct-player-ratings-and-mom-poll&catid=35:analysis&Itemid=67 Rangers obtain another vital three points with hard-fought win over Inverness Caley Thistle at Ibrox. Has looked pretty poor recently if I'm honest but had a good game on Tuesday night IMO. Made a number of crucial tackles and was also reliable in possession.
  8. Lafferty is a frustrating player who looks genuinely first class one minute then a novice the next. I still don't know how we paid so much money for him. As for Beattie... Is it any wonder the bank won't release funds.
  9. I'm told Miller won't move to England again so Brum deal is unlikely.
  10. Who can we buy with that though? Wright-Phillips? No thanks!
  11. Looks like they're happy to pay £500K now.
  12. It is pretty obvious that supporter feelings are of the lowest priority amongst the clubs and authorities. Good on the Rangers fan groups getting involved but it certainly seems far too late in the day to affect any decisions.
  13. The latest issue of New Issue of No1 Fanzine is out this Tuesday at the match against Inverness CT. Still only £2.50 and will be available from all usual places.
  14. Must admit I'm also apathetic to all of this myself. Really can't understand the clamour for change - especially to a 10 team league which has been binned twice before for something bigger.

    Naismith

Yeah, apparently he was just rested as a precautionary measure on Saturday. I guess he may be on the bench tomorrow though depending on how confident the manager is.
  16. Welcome to Gersnet!
  17. Rangers brush aside under strength Hamilton on Saturday at stormy Ibrox Stadium. http://www.gersnetonline.co.uk/2010/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=357:rangers-4-0-hamilton-player-ratings-and-mom-poll&catid=35:analysis&Itemid=67 :vw: Little doubt about our man of the match with Weiss being superb in the first half before tiring after half-time. Jamie Ness was again impressive and I'm a bit happier with Whittaker and Davis' contributions after the last week. :spl:
  18. I'd like to think Webster will deputise but difficult to know if Walter will trust him or opt for McCulloch (or Edu I guess)...

    Hello Hello

Nice to see you see you nice! Smalce/Jonny still goes to a fair few games but doesn't have a season book now unfortunately as he's concentrating on a few other things in his private life.
  20. Ah, no probs...
  21. Nope, we do offer contracts in advance to certain players (or rather they accept the offers quickly)... McGregor, Adam, Naismith, McCulloch etc have all accepted extended deals in recent years well before their contracts run out.
  22. I enjoy Leggat's stuff as much as the next bear but he's really preaching to the converted in many ways. While he's a good outlet for our frustration he doesn't reach all that many more people that you or I and that's a great shame. However, I'd imagine he does retain influence in areas that you or I can't reach. As such, I'd like him to use that influence to ensure the questions he does ask (be it about Spiers, LBG or the club's future) are given a wider platform that he currently has. Meanwhile, as a support, we could place much more pressure in the right places as well. FFS, the crazy Celtic Trust have had time in the Scottish Parliament to ask questions. We've been nowhere near that position and need to widen our scope.
  23. In that case, why has he never mentioned the elephant in the Charlotte Square boardroom?
  24. I've said Murray is to blame and I'd guess the majority of the online community agrees. Offline, the number will be far fewer while the majority won't care either way through apathy. Is it worth trying to open eyes there - possibly, but only if you accompany such direct criticism with solutions/alternatives. Saying Murray is an idiot may help soothe our egos but it doesn't change anything and certainly won't get many people on our side. I've also said enforcing change is a problem - probably impossible as it stands because we have no-one willing to examine the status quo on our behalf and offers constructive solutions. When I speak about debate I don't just mean with regard to who could replace Murray. I've no idea who could do that. I mean with regard to examining all the prevalent problems and presenting credible solutions via what must be a decent number of fans with such expertise to show what is possible. The RST have not done a good job of this which is a shame but they, like the rest of us, can still change our destiny.
  25. I'll make a request in this week's preview for more writers...
