  1. Possibly true I guess - I definitely don't think we've seen the back of our esteemed custodian - but what does Ellis bring to the table that Murray didn't already have? It doesn't seem to be personal finance so are we to assume Ellis has found the kind of investment Murray (and probably AJ) couldn't over the last 4 years or so? If such a deal has been found it may explain the delay in finalising it. Certainly I can't see many investors wanting to end up like ENIC or Dave King.
  2. Cal: I don't disagree with much you've written there but what makes the capability of Ellis being able to develop the area more likely than MIH via PPG? Current cash-flow is an obvious one of course but surely if money was to be made in this respect, MIH would have followed this through before now?
  3. A man is entitled to some much needed R&R over the close season... I'll be back on Tuesday to knock heids together if required!
  4. I think Nugent would be a decent signing - depending on the fee of course.
  5. I agree with Johnny. When Smith first broke into the team he was a very useful player and most bears were excited about his future. Sure, since his injury he's failed to regain that kind of form/potential but it wouldn't surprise me to see him to an Adam and increase his reputation down South. I enjoyed his quotes today about recent developments - very honest and he seems like a player determined to prove his worth rather than make money from guising like some modern players...
  6. Great post to compliment Cal's UCB... I don't think anyone was being unrealistic in their appraisal of the situation - just trying to be a bit more optimistic than some have been of late. The only certainty amongst this sea of speculation is none of us know what Ellis' plans are so, until we do, none of us should be backing a horse with a jockey unknown to us all. By the same token, while gentle cynicism is probably agreeable, neither should we be writing him off. The clock is ticking! PS: I'm in Newcastle on a mate's stag weekend from early Saturday so I can just tell I'm going to miss more big news!
  7. Thomson and Beasley only had 3 votes each with Naismith two IIRC. Lafferty was the clear 'winner'...
  8. Of course not. He is on holiday...
  9. What pop up adverts? We don't have any ads on here...
  10. Remember you saying that Johnny! Well done!
  11. Duncan Ferguson should have been a great player for us...
  12. I'm no expert on these things so any recommendations for administration of suchlike gratefully received...

  14. I think we're doing it via the FIFA site mate.
  15. League 1 isn't a better league IMO... Much of a muchness...
  16. Christian Dailly was Charlton's player of the year...!
  17. Yeah, I think that is likely to be our formation next year - if slightly erring more to a 4-5-1 than 4-3-3... It is more than capable of winning the SPL as it stands but we'd definitely need a few more players to strengthen the squad - especially if Wilson, Bougherra and Broadfoot leave. If that does happen that should allow Smith to buy replacements. Up front, there are still goes available but a poacher would be useful to have as I'm not sure Velicka would fill that role.
  18. After all the excitement of Rangers winning the title for the 53rd time, many of us have enjoyed each week's twists and turns by way of playing in the Gersnet BBC Predictor League. The final standings are as shown here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/cgi-perl/scotland/sportscotland/predictor/scotland.pl?season=SPL20092010&action=minileague&subaction=view&id=8592&modifier=M01&x=24&y=10 Top 5 Scozzese 166 petegers 164 ak5679 162 Gersnet_Bluedell 161 Gersnet_ian1964 157 Well done to our winner 'Scozzese' who can claim their prize (the new Rangers home or away shirt) by pm-ing our kind prize donator Craig with their Predictor user details. Thanks to everyone who took part and hopefully those of you, like me, who forgot most weeks will remember for future competitions! PS: We're hoping to announce our World Cup competition in the next few days - again with a few prizes for those who take part!
  19. Have been asked to pass on this information: The Association is delighted to announce our 2010 Round Robin Rinks Bowling Competition, and this will be held on Saturday 4 September 10, at Gourock, where we hope to have a light buffet and hopefully a bar available on the day. This date has been chosen as it is an International weekend and therefore Rangers will not have a fixture. We are hoping for a good turn out of members, but in order to get an idea of how many rinks there will be, please contact our Social Organiser, Jimmy Clements on 0141 883 7886 or John Macmillan as soon as possible. Further details will follow once we know the level of interest, and I am sure that it will be a fun day out.
  20. Great post, Cal! I'll be ripping that for the website!
  21. I don't think anyone has a problem? By the same token, people don't have to respond to every single post and I think the one you quoted has been discussed broadly above N_L while not being strictly referred to/quoted...
  22. Absolutely no idea but I guess he's talking about 14/15 year olds as opposed to older lads...
  23. You don't know that so please don't start your FF behaviour here.
  24. The only complaint about the property angle is the one MF alludes to in that Rangers may become 2nd best to the interests of the developer. In saying that, I have no problem with anyone making money or increasing their profile from owning Rangers as long as the club itself also gains out of it. I think the SDM success/failure argument is summed up in that sentence. He has made money and improved his profile since he bought the club but we've not made any great strides operationally during his time. Sure, we've had relative success on the park and Murray Park is certainly a huge improvement but generally speaking Sir David Murray has arguably done better out of us than we have of him. Perhaps not to the extent some will claim but I think that is as succinct as we'll get on the matter! Andrew Ellis would do well to recognise that analysis. Making SDM an honorary president suggests he doesn't which means he needs to improve on his fan communication skills as a priority.
  25. In essence I agree with that but I'd have thought they'll still have to make a report now on whoever bids - if anyone.
