  1. Best for all concerned... That frees up around £20K per week in wages and if, as expected, Fanfan alos leaves this week, we have some decent money in terms of wages for one or 2 new defenders. It's coming together slowly but surely.
  2. Shows with a bit of pressurisation it can be done. Where there's a will there's a way. Eh Mr Murray?
  3. http://www.rangerssupporterstrust.co.uk/news/2006/090806.html 09 August 2006 Daily Record Apologises to Trust for Hugh Keevins Article Printed below is an apology from the Daily Record for an article by Hugh Keevins which appeared on Monday 7 August 2006. In it, Keevins invented ââ?¬Ë?quotesââ?¬â?¢ and gave the false impression that he had spoken to someone from the Trust; an impression which both we and the Daily Record are happy to correct. Link to Record Apology 9 August 2006 RANGERS TRUST "IN an article on Monday by Hugh Keevins we attributed part of a quote to Rangers Supportersââ?¬â?¢ Trust spokesperson Stephen Smith which was not made. Mr Smith did speak to the Press Association and it was these quotes which we inaccurately reported. We apologise for the error." Following on from Keevinsââ?¬â?¢s infamous comparison of Ibrox to Nuremberg on Scotsport in April 2006 and a 2003 incident where he inaccurately quoted former Trust Chairman Colin Glass, the Trust believes that this particular journalist has demonstrated he has a serious problem with accuracy and objectivity when it comes to Rangers and Rangers supporters. We have confidence that Trust members and the wider Rangers family will draw the appropriate conclusions and we look forward to the day when Hugh Keevins is denied the platform to voice his offensive, biased and inaccurate ramblings.
  4. Our debt will stand at just over -£5million when announced later this year.
  5. Yep, it is a disgrace. But not as much as Rangers who have failed to act on the perpetrators and the cleaners/security staff.
  6. Welcome to the Trust, Jim...
  7. Made me smile...
  8. No I think Keevins was also referring to Derry's Walls. That particular song cannot be debated as there is nothing remotely sectarian in it's words.
  9. We did 3 years ago... http://www.rangerssupporterstrust.co.uk/news/september2003.html Further action is happening behind the scenes as we speak.
  10. Webster wants to sign for us and I hear he's prepared to wait if we want him.
  11. No, I wouldn't change anything yet. It was a freak result on Saturday and there's no need to panic. Certainly dropping both full backs is a big tactical change not worth considering IMO. BTW, Hutton was arguably our best defender on Saturday. His clearance off the line was incredible and he played pretty well overall. He certainly needs more confidence and could improve his distribution but before he broke his leg he was a good, strong defender. He can regain that form with our support.
  12. Sorry Danny I think you miss my point. What Traynor did was allow (for the first hour I listened anyway) Derry's Walls to be considered sectarian. He did initially say he didn't hear anything offensive at all then he said he never heard anything sectarian before he left. A subtle difference but an important one which leaves the issue open to debate. Especially when you consider the amount of emails and calls read out saying Derry's Walls was sectarian without reply from Traynor arguing otherwise. He knows there is nothing wrong with the words 'No Surrender' but not once did he say so when I listened. I can't remember the first Rangers caller mentioning Hello Hello? He said he didn't want to talk about sectarianism and then rambled on about how Ricksen should be captain. I don't know of any Rangers fan who would want that. Suspicious eh and totally irrelevant to the initial part of the programme. You are an intelligent guy Danny and I certainly don't see myself as someone who over-reacts to media stuff unlike many other fans. However, this show had a remit from the outset. Traynor allowed the notion of sectarian singing happening to an extent and wouldn't allow any Rangers fans on (for at least one hour) to take issue with that. I'll concede that he did mention the delegate being happy and allowed McIntrye on. However it wasn't until the very end of the programme where the listening figures would be minimal he allowed a lady on to correctly argue that Derry's Walls was simply a harmless folk song. By then the damage was done as the listening neutral would again think we were singing sectarian songs. That's why I think the show was damaging and unfair towards us once more. Going by the lack of Radio Scotland coverage towards the songs sung at the game yesterday that backs up my claim somewhat.
  13. Firstly I'd like to congratulate every Rangers fan at Ibrox today for not playing into our enemies hands. Despite going 2-0 down, despite some provocation from the away support and despite there still being a lack of clarity with respect to some songs, our fans handled themselves impeccably. Afterwards, while driving home, I knew it wouldn't take long for the lies and misinformation to begin. Despite the SFA/SPL advisor being delighted, despite the Match Commander being delighted and despite our chairman being delighted Jim Traynor was allowed to try his utmost to change the neutral's mind. His agenda was clear from the outset as he admitted attending the game only to listen to our fans for sectarianism. Eventually, his female accomplice read out an email (30mins later) regarding this incredible comment and he struggled to answer and stuttered on about who the emailer was. No answer was forthcoming. Neither were any Rangers fans wanting to talk about the issue allowed on in the first hour of this programme. For those who weren't at the game and those, like honest Jim, tuning in only to help UEFA enforce their new directive, Derry's Walls, The Sash and Rule Britannia were all sung. All 3 are good, honest folk songs and while they might not be immediately associated with football, they are songs we should be able to sing proudly without being branded sectarian. Jim Traynor and his ilk can try all they want to decry us at every opportunity. Thankfully at last the club offered some back up. Now this may be too little too late for some and I appreciate that but I sense a change in the attitude somewhat. It may be slight but it's a start. Together by continuing to adhere to the directive and continuing to sing our athems like the above we can show the trouble-makers (and downright malicious liars) like Traynor and his friends we won't go quietly into the night. We had a poor result today but there were many positives to take on and off the pitch. I'm as proud as ever to be a bear. The quicker Traynor and muck liek him realise that pride and loyalty will never disappear the better.
  14. Yep it was another excellent example of how to do such a display... Just a pity about the result
  15. I couldn't care less what people wear. It's up to them. It's not as if there are hundreds of them. I seen a few Chelsea tops, a few England tops, a few Scotland tops, a few NI tops and a few French tops today. Hradly anything to get worked up about.
  16. No offence to the guys who have done us a turn but I hope all the dead wood leave asap.
  17. They have. Billy Boys is banned and we can't sing it for the time being.
  18. Yep, I wouldn't say Celtic or Hearts have got any better. We seem to have when you consider the new coaching staff and the money we've spent on new players. As such, we should bridge the gap between ourselves and Celtic/Hearts and have enough to overtake them. However, football isn't played on paper.
  19. Good man Fraser - well done. Give Jim Hannah a cuddle from me.
  20. League has to be priority and I'd also like us to qualify from the UEFA Cup group stages on the European front. Minimal and perhaps realistic expectations are simply an improvement on last year in terms of players, systems, tactics, discipline and motivation. Even if we don't win the league as long as we have tangible evidence of genuine improvement in these areas I'll be reasonably happy. Unfortunately, I doubt as many Rangers fans will be as realistic in their appraisal.
  21. Although it's great to have good individual seasons from excellent goalkeeping to constant goalscorer I actually think this season will be more of a team effort. Hopefully we have sorted out the spine of the team a bit better so new players like Letizi, Svensson, Clement and Sebo should contribute to that along with the exisiting guys such as Klos, J-Rod, Ferguson and Boyd/Prso. If I did have to pick an important player this season, I think Barry Ferguson will return to the team a better, fitter player ready to lead from the front.
  22. Already a thread blind one...
  23. The good thing is we now have 2 players for every position with a few more on top of that as well as some exciting youngsters on the fringes. PLG pretty much has his 24 man squad minus another centre-half and possibly a right back. 4-2-3-1 (Deputies in brackets) ________________________Boyd (Sebo)_________________________ Prso (Adam)__________Buffel (Namouchi)____________Sionko (Burke) __________Clement (Rae)____________Ferguson (Hemdani)_________ Smith (Murray)_Rodriguez (Fanfan)___Svensson (?)___Hutton (Ricksen) _____________________Letizi (McGregor)________________________ If we can get rid of the surplus players such as Novo, Andrews, Ricksen, Fanfan, Malcolm and Bernard; and replace them with one or 2 new guys we're laughing.
  24. He has apparantly signed.... On his official website.
  25. It's a great quote but possibly too large for a banner... Never say never though...
