But they have said that. It's on the BBC website and in other papers. -
Trust Expresses Outrage at Record and Mirror 'Smear'

The Bolton game was actually arranged fairly late on. At that point the GMP gave permission based on no more 5000 travelling bears. That number, because of the good weather, was expected to increase and the GMP (due to increased annual leave) didn't have the numbers to cope with the increase. That's the reason and nothing else should be read into it - especially what Jackson suggested. -

No it isn't. The Record suggested the game was called off because of the Rangers fans 'threat' This article, correctly, says it's because of resources. -

http://www.rangerssupporterstrust.co.uk/news/2006/190706.html 19 July 2006 Trust Expresses Outrage at Record and Mirror 'Smear' Following the cancellation of the Bolton vs Rangers game scheduled for Tuesday 25 July on the advice of Greater Manchester Police, the Rangers Supporters' Trust strongly deplores today's inaccurate, sensationalist and deliberately provocative articles by Keith Jackson of the Daily Record and his counterpart in the Daily Mirror. Unlike professional, responsible journalists at the Daily Express and Evening Times who contacted both Greater Manchester Police and the Trust before going to print, The Record and The Mirror instead demonstrate classic traits of gutter journalism. Ignoring the truth reported by the BBC and all other media outlets including The Sun; i.e. there are inadequate police numbers available to police the game - these newspapers instead chose to print unfounded propaganda in a futile attempt to smear the Rangers support. They deliberately ignored the exemplary behaviour of Rangers fans at fixtures in Fulham, Ipswich, Bradford, Belfast and as recently as 1 May this year, when 13,000 Rangers fans went to a Bank Holiday game in Derby and were praised by Derbyshire Constabulary for their good behaviour. Instead, Keith Jackson referred to a game at Goodison Park more than 8 years ago where local hooligans rather than Rangers fans caused disorder. This is simply not acceptable. We are therefore calling for a public apology to be made to the Rangers support by the journalists responsible. Should this not be forthcoming, the Trust will be asking Rangers Football Club to take the issue up with the publications responsible and we will independently pursue this matter via the Press Complaints Commission. The Trust will also give serious consideration to asking members to conduct a commercial boycott of these publications. We also call on Bolton Wanderers FC to refund those Rangers fans now out of pocket due to their very late notice of this cancellation, given that they recently guaranteed the fixture would go ahead. The Trust warmly welcomes the move by Rangers FC to refund the money for tickets bought by fans.

MGN - Mirror Group Newpapers

I've been in contact with the GMP Press Office this morning and at no point was the game cancelled because of a so-called 'threat' from bears. Rangers fans have a recent flawless record in England and apart from one or two idiots in Spain recently, the same goes for our record abroad. For the Daily Record to write so negatively about us in this regard really is shameful and most disappointing. Recently we had a UEFA judgement imposed upon us for certain reasons. At the time I said for the Rangers fans to be able to change most effectively we'd need the help of other groups. Articles such as this isolate the Rangers support even further and you have to wonder what Jackson and his rag hope to achieve with this misinformation.

It's happened already. MGN going with us being a 'threat' this morning. Disgraceful.

Sebo has handed in a transfer request so there is more chance of this deal happening. However, according to the Swiss media Wein are holding out for more cash because Nike have signed up Sebo and Wein expect the player to be worth a lot commercially. Wein's chief investor/sponsor is also leaving at the end of this season so they are struggling financially and are holding out for more cash.

Don't think he's even on half that.

Murray makes clearest hint yet that club is for sale...

Amen to that calscot... That Herald article is awful. -
Yeah, unfortunately without the same kind of TV money the big money leagues pull in it's impossible to attract or afford even the most average of players. We'll have to be happy to operate in a lesser market and look to develop players and our club enough to compete on (and off) the field.

I deleted the Imogen thread by accident... That why some folk have probably lost a few posts.

Thank you guys for coming. A great evening and the next one can't come quick enough. Great to meet Davie and to see Del again. The company was top notch and the Stella wasn't bad either... Had breakfast with Frank Robb this morning and he says he really enjoyed himself as well. He was a wee bit rough as he was still drinking a bottle of red wine in our hotel bar when we went to bed at the back of 2...

Got mine as well. I think there is a chip integrated somehow. Latest technology etc.

Great work folks... If the people who have donated pm me I'll give you the custom status of your choice for a week.

The debt will be around the -£10million mark, probably less. The £18million from JJB went to service the debt and most probably soften the £50million 'hit' MIH took then they underwrote last year's share issue. As well as a few million for PLG of course.

That would be nice... Makes the success of 'GerSave' and continuing positive dialogue with the club all the more important. -

As I said in my article, although Hunter does have an emotional attachment to the club, at the minute his investment company are aggressively increasing their portfolio in other business environments. In my opinion that would rule out a Hunter move for Rangers. But if a consortium were to make a bid, I'd imagine he'd be part of it. He tried to invest before but because certain guarantees weren't made he pulled out. David Murray not being at the club might attract him (and others) back into the frame. -
Yep, let's get this one made and paid for before moving on. Coem on folks. We all enjoy posting here and many complain it's not busy enough. This is our chance to contribute to the forum in a practical manner while advertising it to other bears in a colourful way. Posters who donate can request a custom status and once we reach the target we can have sigs back for a wee while as a reward.

In today's Finanical Times... Makes my article of late last month all the more valid. http://www.gersnet.info/fmrangers/newmain/280606.html

Yeah, I can't see past 4-2-3-1 to be honest. It fits our current personnel best and allows rotation of players easily as well. Sionko > Burke AN Other > Boyd Hemdani > Ferguson Rae > Clement Murray > Anybody etc etc

Still not got mine yet...
