At your service, sir. The boat, please the boat!

Anyone else find it a bit deflating to have our owner set the cap of ambition at survival? I know we have to be realist in these things, but you can be realist and inspiring. You could say, in this new world of fiscal belt-tightening and living-with-in-your-means there are both hardships and opportunities - there's a real chance for Rangers to lead the way in adopting new strategies to deal with new times? I suppose if he came out with that, there'd be moonbeam sarcasm again, but survival implies a sort of day-to-day short termism, yet he doesn't expect a buyer, which implies there's a long term that's begging for at least some sort of vision - even if it's making a virtue of what we currently have to endure.

I'm afraid not, sir, as everyone knows about politicians - those who make the rules aren't bound by them :fish: :spl:

They seem tightly wound and quick to take offense. This won't do for people in their position. People who are after some idea need to be single-minded, and unequivocal, in being motivated by it. Personal agendas and other minor partisan issues just don't factor into people's mindset when they want to bring about difficult and unusual things. When I see their most impassioned and embattled words, like DM, it's often in defense of themselves. From the impression I get, they seem to be far too elitist and partisan to be representative. However, that's not to say that it's easy. They're going to endure irrational hatred, unbalanced naysaying and have to try to fail to be flattered by small fame offered by people who favour things-as-they-are, like being interviewed and invited to the club and being in the know. Despite what anyone says, these things are hard to ignore. If you're taking uninformed abuse when you're trying to do some good its easy to become disheartened and retreat into the safety of where you wont be held to account. While this is natural, and human, and most of us who criticise the RST will be like this more often than not, it absolutely won't do if you are a person who sets themselves up to lead and bring about something fairly big like a new relationship between the fans and the club. As annoying as these things are, you've got to be able to rise above it for the Greater Good. The RST and presumably the RSA undoubtedly have really talented people, many of whom can speak well, but they seem to have bite and dignity the wrong way round - I think they need to be more tempered in dealing with those who oppose them, and put more bite into pursuing representation. At the moment I think it's the other way round. Still hope they can turn it round, but I'm skeptical.

Yup, whatever the lessons are people are going to have a lot of hard time to think them about while me, P and the cat are sitting in their houses

OK, everyone, what lessons have we learned?

BD: "For those looking for hope in these barren times, I will say only this: our sun is dying, slowly, but inevitably, and the end of all things is the limitless void of a black hole. While we scuttle around - dust in denial - the Rangers live on."

Aye, Boyd and McGregor's comments will only prove not to be misguided and they go on to do something substantially more. This rarely happens.

This really is a stupid game.

1 year on - Assessing the performance of The Rangers Board - Success or failure?
bmck replied to a topic in Rangers Chat
It may be that, being quite bloated and mismanaged, we've had to do the inevitable belt-tightening that may soon sweep across the board a bit early. It's every bit possible if we get even the slightest hint of a double dip recession that clubs, even English clubs we currently can't compete with, will become undone. A bit optimistic, but living within your means I think's going to apply right across everything in the next few years. -
I can fix your computer if you want

I'll take the thanks despite doing absolutely nothing

At the moment Gribz? Has there ever been a time you haven't opted for 3-5-2? :fish: :spl:

I like that Lemon is starting to show his inexperience straight away. That sort of stuff - surrounding the ref, and having an affinity with the club - only works if it seems natural. Coming out and essentially stating you're going to try and have decisions go your way and manufacture a sense of team spirit seems properly naive.

I think it was another WC case of a team failing to capitalise on early pressure. I thought England were unlucky. I quite like the English, I just dislike their media/commentators. I don't think you should ever misunderestimate (!) the American sporting mentality, though; that combined with a good quality of player means they'll always be difficult to beat. A decent game interrupted only by a huge fire across the road from us! Fires are mad.

I'm thoroughly jealous man.

Burley truly is the worst pundit ever.

Is there a bit where you can set the score?

My prediction model may be flawed. I've got nothing right so far. Bookies are morons. I couldn't go against the Greeks though when I have a Greek exam looming though or Zeus would punish me.
