  1. The only negative is that we might want to change our number one keeper while McGregor is still there as experienced cover in case his replacement doesn’t live up to expectations.
  2. Sorry but if you’re going to judge on rare individual examples then you’re selling the entire first team squad
  3. Ten years ago Allan McGregor was just as poor coming for high balls and his distribution from feet was just as erratic. He remains an outstanding shot stopper. Seems to me the reluctance to extend his contract is a fear of the future rather than based on anything we’ve actually seen.
  4. Yes, I think everything you read about our transfer intentions/activity is speculation. It's disappointing that we as a support still seem to look to a clearly-uninformed media to provide useful information. Old habits die hard I guess.
  5. You might turn out to be right but at this stage it's impossible to say that with any authority until and unless we understand exactly why the decision was taken. I think we can be sure this was a decision taken only after due consideration and within the context of an overall plan for the team and the budget available. We're simply not privy to those considerations.
  6. WE still seem to be giving credence to newspaper talk
  7. Allan McGregor wouldn't be the chap we know he is if he ignored the reality of his situation. I think he'll be delighted to stay and make a contribution to the success of the team and I don't expect anything but professionalism in his attitude to supporting the other keepers whoever they are. Having him around the squad is a huge plus if the price is right for all.
  8. Sorry to see big Leon leave. One of the good guys. I really hope he does well wherever he lands.
  9. Don’t forget, it’s Scottish courts we’re talking about here. Everything else is corrupt and useless in Sturgeon’s land, why should the courts be any different?
  10. The entire Celtic tribe learned long ago that barefaced denial and a captive media is always an effective defence.
  11. What that amounts to is "I don't know what our financial position is or how much we can or can't invest in recruitment". It really isn't such a big deal to just wait quietly until the window ends and then we'll see what has actually happened.
  12. It’s never too early for a bit of panic. In fact I suspect some have been in training for weeks.
  13. Bit too soon for that level of pessimism surely. I’m assuming you have no evidence for that opinion and it’s entirely driven by frustration?
  14. I think he's referring to Parks being the separate entity in this case.
  15. There are so many ways to signal support for genuine anti-racism campaigns, without kneeling to copy a marxist rip-off mob. I only hope football teams will stop this empty virtue signalling soon.
  16. Davie Wilson was never underrated by anyone who saw him play.
  17. What do you mean "we"?
  18. Maybe but I’m sure that wasn’t their negotiating position 😉
  19. Looks like a determined effort to disguise what is essentially a humiliating climb down by the SPFL. Wonder what they had to offer Cinch to get this outcome?
  20. Southgate has made so many really bad errors of judgement that it's a mystery why he has had so much popular support for so long. He's blessed with so many wonderful players that it must take a particular talent to make such a guddle of it.
  21. If you are Ross Wilson, it becomes impossible to plan a transfer window without making certain assumptions about who you want to keep and who you want to sell, neither of which come with any certainties and will always be subject to the players' wishes. You can't guarantee what will come off but these starting assumptions must inform your activities. It would be fascinating to know how anyone approaches this situation. Our problem is that we have no idea what those assumptions might be.
  22. Piece of cake
  23. I feel slightly better approaching CL qualification under GvB, who I think is a more thoughtful and considered manager ... as opposed to Gerrard's more intuitive and emotional leadership style. The challenge will be to acquire and integrate new signings in time to help us reach to group stage.
  24. I remember Davie Wilson clearly as a player and what a player he was. But it was many years after he hung up his boots that I met the man behind the legend. For a number of years Davie hosted our Club Deck hospitality box and over the period I chatted to him many times, both round the table and watching whatever game was on. My abiding memory is of a humble, respectful and engaging man who was instantly likeable and who represented Rangers with enormous pride. I think Davie was one of those truly genuine people who was comfortable in his own skin and a pleasure to know. I haven't seen him for years now but feel huge sadness to hear of his passing. One of the very best, heaven's gain.
