  1. Indeed. But we should also recognise that there's still some way to go before this can be expected to bear fruit every summer .... and that it isn't easy - there will be years when we don't make this kind of money. If you look at the current squad, we will have to devote first team opportunities to 2 or 3 fringe players in order to create future selling possibilities. That probably means finding regular space for the likes of King, Lowry, Sands, etc.
  2. It should be interesting to know how much is up front and how much is payable over the next (presumably) few years. What we need now is cash flow for the season ahead, not the promise of liquidity to come. All in all though, as you say in your next post, this is the business model we have craved for the last 20-30 years.
  3. The primary objective today wasn't to win the game. When that is the main objective in a couple of weeks we will hopefully field a team to achieve it.
  4. I suppose that will be it but Sands could also play there and let King come on at CB.
  5. The usual suspects look comfortable but we need much more from midfield going forward. Kamara has all the skills but so far he doesn't seem able to link with the front three. I guess Borna will be subbed at HT after taking a knock. With Bassey withdrawn it will be interesting to see who takes his place at LB. Sands looks ready to stake his claim to a starting place.
  6. Yes, this season has to be when James Sands consolidates his early promise
  7. The only thing to worry about is how much money we get for him.
  8. Actually while Katic isn't going to displace Goldson any time soon, there is point that he may be a "better" bet than Helander, since a defender who is injured really isn't much good at all.
  9. Correct, he’s the one player we can and should sell high.
  10. Brighton would’ve a good choice. A couple of years under Potter would definitely make him a better player.
  11. I think we need to see if Katic returns a better player after his season away before writing him off. Him or King could yet become first choice by default - Simpson probably will go before the window closes and Helander & Souttar will inevitably have spells out.
  12. I predict we'll come away from there with three points.
  13. the topic title is a bit hysterical, given that you then admit you don't know anything about it.
  14. Surely coach to player ratio is important?
  15. I believe that's where many of them actually come from.
  16. Only my opinion but there’s no way this transfer window is finished for Rangers. I expect further business pending CL results. We’ll see.
  17. It turned into a full scale retreat. I still don't understand where our heads were that day.
  18. That doesn't half focus the mind....funny how many ways there are to see it ..... Kent - Colak - Wright Lundstram - Jack - Lowrie Bassey - Souttar - Goldson - Tavernier McLaughlin Subs: Kamara, Morelos, Hagi, Arfield, Barisic, Helander, King, Sands, Lawrence, Sakala, McCrorie
  19. Parts of the team are in dire need of refreshing. I'm expecting/hoping for considerable progress this season from the likes of James Sands, Leon King, Alex Lowrie and especially Scott Wright. Like some others I'm hoping we will continue developing the squad by offloading some of Steve Davis, Filip Helander, Kemar Roofe, Jack Simpson, Nicolas Katic, Glen Middleton and maybe even Borna Barisic or Glenn Kamara - although it might be more likely some will only leave in January. I would very much like to see Calvin Bassey stay for another season.
  20. The right response by Rangers. Unfortunate but hardly the end of the world.

    Finances

All of which only reinforces the point that unless you're in the very inner circle at Rangers then there is no way to effectively assess the "state of our finances".
