  1. Has to be Tavernier again. Jack didn't miss a pass until he ran out of steam. The rest were simply below par. How does Kamara go from stellar performances to giving the ball away and routinely getting caught in possession?
  2. Our midfield just hasn't turned up today
  3. I’ve watched this nightmare too many times.
  4. Rangers 4 Ross County 0 FGS - Itten
  5. I was the other one forecasting a draw. Of course I was basing it on then winning 3-0 on penalties ?
  6. I was reading the Celtic media circus boasting just a few weeks ago that they had sold 50,000+ season tickets. Why would they now need a paying audience? They're not exactly renown for filling their stadium on match days and I can't imagine even they would charge season ticket holders a second time for the same seat. They couldn't have been bullshitting about season ticket sales, could they?
  7. The ability of Aberdeen fans to overestimate their own worth never fails to impress.
  8. All you can ever hope for is a group that gives us a reasonable chance of progressing and I think we definitely got that. Thankfully there are no mega-journeys to far flung hellholes. Edit - wouldn't it be funny if £40m signing Alfredo Morelos scored a hat trick for Lille to sink them at Parkhead. You can dream.
  9. The similarity between the two hadn't struck me before but there's more than an ounce of truth in it.
  10. It's almost inevitable that players who remain in the first team for a lengthy period will have individual performances that are at odds with their overall track record. Tavernier is a good example but there are many others. If fans are entitled to express opinions about the contribution a player makes over a season or even a career, surely it's equally valid to comment on how players perform during an individual game. Or should a generally good player should be immune from criticism if he has a few poor games? Should one good game transform a bad signing into a Rangers legend? Are we not intellectually capable of distinguishing someone's overall contribution to the team over a period from how they perform on a game-by-game basis? Is it really embarrassing to regard any player by what we see on the park during a game? Or is it just embarrassing to hold different views? Why would anyone say it is? I've said it before, Rangers fans almost always offer an honest collective opinion about players. Play badly and they'll tell you so, play well and you'll receive due praise. Where it goes wrong is when we start denying the truth about individual performances because we're so desperate to defend a player's overall contribution to the club. Tavernier has been a remarkable signing and, if he stays, we will undoubtedly see his name on the hall of fame board. However, let's not start revising history by denying that he's also turned in some stinking displays, when he couldn't get a cross past the first defender and had to concede corner and penalty duties to others. He deserves great credit for seeing it through his tough times and it now looks like he is reaping the rewards.
  11. Hagi for me. He seems to be made for the European stage.
  12. Last year it took us 8 games. This year we managed it in only 3. Progress of a kind?
  13. You can want all you like but the reality of experience is that it happens so seldom as to be a complete waste of resources. Any business that continues to invest in something that delivers as little return, for such a large cost, over such a long and sustained period, as youth development at Rangers should be changing its directors. Or do you think the future success of Rangers will be better served by your wishful thinking?
  14. The core purpose of our football club is to win trophies. The actual contribution of our youth/development players to that objective is negligible That has long been the case. The only reason to devote any resources to younger players is for the purposes of trading. If it was all about developing players for our first team then the only sensible thing to do would be to shut it all down tomorrow morning. If we can't earn a profit from moving them on then we should have shut it down yesterday. Unless anyone actually thinks the future will be different from the past and we will have a first team populated by homegrown talent.
  15. Rangers 1 Galatasaray 1 FGS - Barisic
  16. Honestly, who on Earth would actually listen to a Spiers podcast? Like most people, I wouldn't have known it existed if it hadn't been announced here and I imagine the only people who would listen to him and his guests would be those looking to feed the sickness in their own heads. Spiers is an unprincipled parasite looking for any handhold to maintain a living out of the Scottish fascination with tribal bigotry and deceit, whether real or (usually) imagined. Thankfully, he's largely invisible to me. I'd prefer it if he could be referred to in future by some suitably descriptive byname, rather than spreading his presence across the ether.
  17. It's a decent move for Andy Halliday and like another Rangers player leaving the club I wish him well.
  18. Wow, what are the chances of finding something like that? You must be so pleased to have that photo.
  19. I want to make it clear I have never once criticised James Tavernier. I have criticised his poor performances, of which there have been many over the last season or two. Since it's never a reflection on the person, it's an easy step to commend any player who actually performs well. Tav deserves all the praise he gets for his display yesterday and will no doubt continue to receive it if he continue to improve. Perhaps now his growing confidence will see him become the more assertive captain I feel we need. Given the appalling performances turned in by many players after last New Year, it's hardly surprising that several of them are receiving better evaluations this season. Kamara, Arfield, Davis, Tavernier, Kent were often dreadful in the run up to lockdown and our better results recently are in no small measure due to the way they've transformed their game. I've always found Rangers fans to be very fair and their views tend to reflect only what they see in front of them on the park. What else should we do.
  20. An easy decision this time. At long last James Tavernier has found some good form. It's been coming in recent weeks but I felt he finally arrived today after an absence of two whole seasons. He did a real captain's job today and every Rangers supporter should be over the moon about it. Welcome back Tav.
  21. I really don't know what everyone is getting worked up about. After all "Rangers will fully support its Manager against this charge during the scheduled hearing" so the SFA will be quaking in its shoes.
  22. Anyone posting a prediction two days after the final whistle really ought to get closer than that ?
