Anything that breaks the cycle of failure would be a step forward right now. Central defence would be a whole lot less of a problem if we had a midfield that could retain possession for more than three seconds. McGregor Patterson-Edmundson-Katic-Barisic Polster-Jack-Aribo Hagi-Kamberi-Kent -
It always is but perhaps there’s just a small interest from the support too.

I like him too and I'd convinced myself he was the one to bring back success. I've just watched this presser again and it's even more worrying the second time. I think you're right, he IS lost and wherever the answers are going to come from it's probably not Mr Gerrard. All football managers come to these tipping points in their careers, only a very few are able to make the changes needed to turn things around. Sadly, it's beginning to look like we could be heading back to square one and starting again. The Hearts game showed worrying weaknesses but provoked no changes. The Aberdeen home draw had alarm bells ringing - no changes. The Kilmarnock loss saw the league challenge evaporate - no changes. Scraped past Livi, drew with St Johnstone - no changes. Again beaten at Tynecastle after repeating the same mistakes as the last visit - no changes. Beaten at home by Hamilton and again it looks like it's carry on as normal, nothing to signal the next game will be any different. No sense of resetting morale or drawing a line under the recent past and taking a new path forward. Nothing. We had one of the best strikers in Europe before New Year, who's a shadow of himself now. Our midfield that dominated teams can hardly string two passes together. Our fullbacks used to terrorise teams but can hardly cross a ball now. Our defence - well, nuff said. The manager assures us he's hurting, the players do too but we know they're just going through the obligatory script. Why was Andy Halliday sent to do a post-match interview? Who thought that would be a good idea? I felt disappointed but increasingly I now just feel let down.
-
Why not, he’s allowed Tav to get away with it since last July.

When your manager and players repeatedly make public statements that they’re “hurting” you can be sure of only two things. They’re bullshitting you and they’ve no idea what to do next. This is absolutely the last thing I wanted to hear from Gerrard today. As much as I want him to succeed, this is as depressing as it’s insulting.
-
Absolutely agree. I'm very disappointed no announcement has been made today regarding a new captain.

I'd give them 800 tickets when they make public statement accepting full responsibility for deliberately covering up known child abuse at their squalid football club.

Correct, it's bizarre to say the least. Where's our shrinking violet captain when the time comes to stand up and be counted. Too many of the wrong type of characters in the wrong roles at the club. For what it's worth, Halliday spoke well and made no attempt to sugar coat the shambles we're in. I can only assume he faced up because no one else was prepared to. -
Old crazy eyes? I think the less interaction Greegs has with referees the better.

Well done. That's the sort of dogged stupidity that ensures the SNP free rein to undermine everything decent about this country. -

I told myself I wasn't going to join any open criticism of our manager, who I still hope delivers success. However, I've been increasingly worried by the tone of his "reaction" interviews after the last two losses. On each occasion he's made a point of assuring us how much he was "hurting" and how disappointed he was. I don't want a Rangers manager telling me how hurt or disappointed he is, that's the last thing I want. I want a Rangers manager being incandescent that his players could even dare to serve up such feckless crap. I want a Rangers manager making decisive changes and flaying anyone who doesn't go along with it. In other words, some sign of leadership. I'm beginning to understand that the players have caught on to this side of Gerrard and there's been a considerable loss of respect for him. And I don't ever want to hear the word Liverpool mentioned again so long as Gerrard is the manager of Rangers. This isn't fucking Liverpool and right now it doesn't look like Rangers either. -
Were there two Alfredos on the park last night? Because the one I saw didn't come within a country mile of being MOTM. Next time I'm going to look out for the other Morelos.

Chicken or egg? Does the crowd react to player performance or is player performance a reaction to the crowd? I'm at a loss to understand why the crowd could be blamed for what goes on on the park. We have an amazing support, hugely loyal. We fill stadiums wherever the team plays. I'm not going to start blaming those supporters for the shit being served up by players who, frankly, have lost their bottle. -

The very least, the absolute minimum, we need to see from our manager before the next game is a clear sign he accepts massive changes are needed if we're to succeed in Scottish domestic football. By far the best way he can signal this is by announcing a new captain on Friday. -

The prospect of yet another false dawn is almost too much to bear. But there's no denying that's now a definite possibility. I very much want Gerrard to succeed but I want Rangers to succeed a whole lot more and it just isn't happening. The thing I can't get out of my head is that those players would never have turned in the gutless performances we've endured since New Year if Walter Smith was the manager. That's leading me to a conclusion I'd rather not dwell on right now. -

Undoubtedly true but we all know where the buck stops when the manager signs the players and the players don't play.
