I'd draft in George Edmundson to a defensive midfield role and add Davis Aribo and Docherty or Halliday. Edmundson has impressed me every time he's played. I'm not sure we can necessarily include Jack in that category. He was already the best of the three before he picked up his calf injury, which may well have affected him from then on. Nor am I totally convinced about Kamara's season so far - seems to me he's tended to blow hot and cold too often.

I understand that - I'm just leery of the rush to hang the defeat around the neck of any one player, especially someone who only played half the game. It's never that simple. The player you mention, Kamara, was by some distance the worst performer on the day but I haven't seem him receiving a fraction of the flak directed at Flanagan.

Don't waste your time. The triggering threshold of some people is just very low.

It's not the physical hardman we need, it's the strong mentality that's missing. Only Jack appears to have it.

Reflecting on the extent of our midfield capitulation yesterday, the part of our team I thought was the strongest now worries me a lot. It doesn’t matter how capable they can be, if they effectively down-tools like that it suggests something fundamentally lacking. Take away Jack and we’re exposed as powderpuff in midfield.
