  1. The January transfer window could be 'interesting', is that the correct word? Or would 'devastating' be more accurate. Will Muir be asked the question at the AGM?
  2. How many people have you spoken to regarding forming a consortium? I have been in discussions with a handful of individuals, some more than others, whose identities shall remain private. I wished for the discussions taking place and the individuals involved to be anonymous – including myself. When you contacted me a month ago, I stressed my desire to have the plan progressed further before going public. Unfortunately, someone who knows me personally breached a trust and gave my details to another member of the press, and I decided to go public last week. Did the others fully support your business plan? They also have the best interests of Rangers at heart and they wish to have this situation resolved as soon as possible. We have had minor disagreements on some issues, but it was more to do with eliminating any potential impact on the club. In general we have broad agreement on the way forward. Why have they chosen not to go public and will they soon? No one involved in this wished to go public, we would have preferred to have moved matters further on and completed matters at hand rather than dealing with the publicity, positive or negative. I am sure that, should the plan be adopted, then there will be no way anyone can remain anonymous as certain public documents have to be executed. ............................................................................................................................................................................. Does this sound as if there is a consortium in place?? It seems we are a long way from anything happening, especially before January.
  3. I didn't realise he was on the RST Board. At least I can 'Google' Duffy and decide on his suitability. But having a Supporter on the Board representing me and my investment, how do I investigate them?
  4. Spurs loaned them Hutton as well!!!
  5. My worry is that ' Supporter representation ' is the be all and end all for some.
  6. I will make the decision whether to invest my money, and do the research, as I always do. I will not invest so that a Supporters Organisation can have seat on the board, as I think you are alluding to.
  7. It will be one of the many points I would digest before coming to a decision. What do I get for my money!!
  8. Surely everyone will make up their own mind whether to invest money, I don't see that it will matter what any Supporters Organisation says or recommends.
  9. Some Supporters are not as articulate as others when it comes to airing their grievances. Would it not lend more weight if they could go to a Supporters Group, and perhaps things like this could be clarified, with the club and stewards.
  10. He should be fined and benched. I wonder what someone like Jock Wallace or even Souness would have done? No player is bigger than Rangers in my mind, but nowadays I sometimes wonder.
  11. http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/2741602/Walt-Bougy-was-reserve-before-Gers.html WALTER SMITH last night slammed AWOL star Madjid Bougherra, insisting: It's not so long ago you were with Charlton RESERVES. Bougherra missed Saturday's SPL clash with Kilmarnock after failing to return from international duty in time for the game. It's the THIRD time the defender has been late back from Algeria duty - with Smith's patience now wearing thin. The Ibrox boss has a decision to make on whether he recalls Bougherra for tomorrow's Champions League crunch with Stuttgart. Danny Wilson, 17, was outstanding against Killie at the weekend and could keep his place. Smith will hold showdown talks with Bougherra before picking his side - but he hit out at the former Coca-Cola Championship player last night. He said: "It's the third time he's come back late from an international match so I'll need to speak to him. "He's come a long way since Charlton reserves, you know. It isn't really a big issue to me - it's just something you need to handle as a manager. It's not a major problem. ''But he should have been back on Friday night after asking for permission to go to the celebration on Thursday, which we gave him." Smith insists he was NOT planning to play Bougherra against Killie but he does want an explanation as to why he was not back in time. The Ibrox gaffer added: "I had no real thoughts of playing him on Saturday anyway. The player has been out for a length of time and returned to play two matches in quick succession for his country. "Given the magnitude of the games he was involved in, and considering we have the Tuesday game, I wasn't considering him for the Kilmarnock match. "But the fact remains he didn't turn up which is always a bit of a problem. "If people are not making an attempt to get back to their club, effectively for what they do for a living, it's a little bit of a problem. "But it's not a major issue with the way young Danny Wilson is playing. "People say I'm faced with a problem but trust me, it's never a problem. "If a young lad comes in and plays in the manner in which he's played it delights you." Meanwhile, Gers' Euro rivals Stuttgart could only draw 1-1 with Bundesliga basement boys Hertha Berlin yesterday. Markus Babbel's side are now 16th - and in the relegation play-off zone.
  12. CL says he didn't think there was 'a huge gulf', DU weren't that much better.
  13. To get right down to the nitty gritty, how many Supporters do you think will contribute, say 3k over 3 years? The many I know, I would say 2, and even then they would want a guarantee that they wouldn't lose it.
  14. In the past the celtc minded called Scottish football, the officials, clubs etc. corrupt. They demanded foreign referees to officiate, because Rangers were [in their warped mind] favoured. Now because Uefa don't do what the celtc minded journalists are demanding, they have started calling Uefa corrupt.

  16. As a priority should we not be making sure we are never up before UEFA again? We just cannot take the chance of a banning happening. Look at the finances last year because of our non involvement in Europe.
  17. Scottish billionaire based in Florida, and a fan to boot. Fingers crossed, but sounds to good to be true.
  18. http://www.thebluenose.co.uk/rangers-fans-unite-for-change-and-progress/ JOINT PRESS RELEASE RANGERS FANS UNITE FOR CHANGE AND PROGRESS The Rangers Supporters Assembly, Rangers Worldwide Alliance, Rangers Supporters' Trust and Rangers Supporters Association united today to urge Rangers fans around the world to consider playing their part in changing the ownership of the club. The organisations are considering the options open to fans to invest in the club on a massive scale and on an accountable basis. We are considering various options for this - whether on our own or in partnership with others. We intend that the future of the club will never again be reliant on the goodwill of a bank or any individual. One option we are currently discussing with advisors is the changes necessary to turn the Trusts Gersave scheme into a suitable vehicle for the gathering in of funds. However, any form of investment will only take place on the basis of the suitability of the terms gained in negotiations. Rangers as a club cannot continue in the current state of limbo with the threat of being run by the Lloyds Banking Group. To move things on before the January transfer window we are formally inviting any potential credible investors to discuss their plans for the club with us. Rangers fans are by far the biggest financial investors in the club. We are determined that the club will continue to flourish and never again will it run the risk of falling into the hands of a bank. We call on fans to be patient but to unite behind sensible proposals we hope to recommend to them over the coming months. John McMillan - General Secretary, Rangers Supporters Association Andy Kerr - President, Rangers Supporters Assembly & Rangers Worldwide Alliance Stephen Smith - Chairman, Rangers Supporters Trust
  19. By the same guy Home from home for Celtic What a marvellous gesture from the supporters of Hamburg. When the Celtic fans arrived for their Europa Cup game last week they discovered that the Germans had gone to the most extraordinary lengths to make them feel at home. First, in a terrific feat of choreography, the supporters in one stand used coloured cards to depict a giant Union flag facing the travelling fans. How reassuring it must have been to arrive in a strange, foreign land and then suddenly to see your beloved nation’s flag. And as if that wasn’t enough, the Germans had brought with them a huge banner with a stirring message written in perfect English: “No Surrender!” It would have been even better if several thousand of them had mastered a simple tune — perhaps one commemorating the followers of a former British monarch with Dutch connections — on the tin whistle in time for the game, but it seems churlish to complain when they went to so much effort. Even the local vandals got in on the act, spray painting a wall near the away end turnstiles with the legend: “Welcome to Protestant Hamburg!” I think that was a nice touch. Very thoughtful. I have to say, Rangers must feel a bit worried this morning. You don’t expect them to actually win the Champions League, or even progress out of the group stage, but to be given a lesson in bigotry on the terraces by the real Huns, and with such style! Hamburg’s affection for sectarian hatred, incidentally, is largely a reaction to their city rivals, FC St Pauli, whose fans have been known to wave pro-IRA flags and a delegation of whom attended the previous fixture in Glasgow, which Celtic also failed to win. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/columnists/rod_liddle/article6907856.ece
  20. I am posting something from Follow Follow, hope this is ok. http://www.followfollow.com/news/loadnews.asp?cid=TMNW&id=472099
  21. I would be surprised if anyone at the Club said anything along these lines, until they knew if there were any other bids in, or in the pipeline. Perhaps the best way would be if a consortium led the way, and were willing to go down this path.
  22. Who is going to speak to the thousands of Supporters who are needed, if anything like this is to get of the ground. As others have said, I don't see anyone at the various Supporter Organizations at the moment who could carry this through.
  23. A real shame for the lad and his wife. 'The popular winger was nowhere to be seen at the City Ground, having returned home to Northern Ireland with his wife, Janet, after the couple's second child was stillborn in a Bristol hospital last week'.
  24. If you have a reputation [deserved or not], this is what happens, it's life. No matter what the provocation, we were caught on camera throwing chairs at stewards. For the good of Rangers, it's time to take serious measures to make sure something like this never happens again.
  25. RANGERS chairman Alastair Johnston has confirmed what SportTimes told our readers nearly a fortnight ago - Lloyds Banking Group will take drastic action at the end of the season if no buyer can be found for the Ibrox club. New Gers supremo Johnston flew from his base in the USA to Glasgow this week before heading out to Romania for the club's Champions League showdown with Unirea Urziceni in Bucharest. Hours before that game he outlined the worst-case-scenario the Scottish champions face to a group of corporate fans who were attending the game. Speaking at the team hotel before kick-off in Steaua's stadium, the IMG vice-chairman told the wealthy supporters that Lloyds will implement savage cuts and dramatically scale down the ambition of the club if no buyer comes forward by next May. advertisement The club, who are now being run by the bank's man Donald Muir, are also likely to off-load star names in January should decent money be tabled. The only way to avert this eventuality, which will include most of the first-team squad being sold off to reduce substantial debts believed to total around £30 million, is for Sir David Murray's 90 per cent stake to be snapped up. Johnston personally appealed to the business-men in Bucharest to make themselves known to the club's hierarchy if they had any intention of investing. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/display.var.2534239.0.ibrox_leader_spells_it_out.php
