  1. GORDON STRACHAN is preparing to spend any Celtic Euro windfall on Hibs midfielder Scott Brown. The Parkhead manager will get additional funds in the January transfer window if he can steer his side into the Champions League knock-out stages. Celtic will bank around £3m if they progress from their group. They will earn more than £1.2m for reaching the last 16 and would also have a home gate and extra sponsorship revenue to boost the coffers. Even finishing third, and going into the Uefa Cup, would guarantee extra funds that they didn't originally bank on so Strachan, who didn't spend his entire budget in the summer, will be rewarded. Chairman Brian Quinn said yesterday at the agm that funds could be available in January. And the Hoops boss has identified the Scotland star as the player he would most like to add to his squad. SportTimes understands Strachan has asked to be kept updated on the player's situation between now and the turn of the year. Old Firm rivals Rangers are also known to be admirers, but Paul Le Guen might not have enough funds to come close to Hibs' asking price, which is thought to be around £3m. Brown is thought to favour a move to Ibrox over Parkhead, but he would be around familiar faces at Celtic with former Hibs team-mates Derek Riordan and Garry Caldwell already in Strachan's squad. Strachan is desperate to be the first manager to take Celtic into the last 16 of the Champions League, something Martin O'Neill failed to achieve in his time at Parkhead. And he knows the extra money from achieving such a feat could be put to good use as he continues to fill his squad with young talent. Celtic already look good for finishing in the top two of their Champions League section. Wins at home over FC Copenhagen and Benfica have put them in a healthy position at halfway. Signing Brown to the club would hand him a massive boost as he strives to put a Celtic side out on the park that has energy, determination and pace. The midfielder has been a huge influence on the Hibs side that played entertaining football under Tony Mowbray, before he quit to take over West Brom. Strachan is expected to remain tight-tipped on his plans for January as he knows there is plenty of interest in the player from down south as well as Rangers, but he is certainly on his short-list of targets. I would be sick if this happened. Hopefully he learns a lesson from Riorden. Surely if Brown wants to come to us we and we are interested in signing him, Murray will make the cash available for one of Scotlands best talents. The same should go for Gorden,we should go to all odds to get one of Britains top keepers for years to come. Come on Murray spending now for the future can create money not throw us back into debt.
  2. http://www.sportinglife.com/football/scottishpremier/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=soccer/06/10/24/SOCCER_Rangers_McGregor.html Allan McGregor could pledge his future to Rangers despite finding himself down the pecking order at Ibrox. A string of impressive performances earned the 24-year-old the Bank of Scotland Player of the Month award for September in the absence of the injured Lionel Letizi. But he found himself warming the bench again when Letizi was drafted back into the team by manager Paul Le Guen. That prompted speculation that McGregor - whose current deal expires at the end of the season - could quit Ibrox. But his agent Willie Mackay believes he may still have a future with his boyhood heroes. "The ball is in Rangers' court," Mackay told Record PM. "Allan is a Rangers fan and I think he would consider staying if he was made a suitable offer."

  4. As much as we all love the big man, he does seem to be struggling to shake of his injury and get fully fit. Apparently its been known inside Ibrox for some time that he wont last anywhere near the full season and will soon retire. It would be a sad day if Prso hung up his boots but it looks like its now when and not if

  7. seems derby are showing an interest and could be putting in a bid at the winter transfer window. they have already made inquiries at ibrox and if the price is right they will get their man. i would take the money in this case as i feel buffel flatters to decieve at times. he looked a good prospect when he came but i dont think hes fullfilled his potential. scored a great goal yesterday but he misses easir chances on a regular basis. dont think he deserved mom yesterdeay either.
  8. a report from the belfast telegraph has stated that paul le geun is closely watching leeds player david healy. the irish international striker is unsettled in yorkshire and would jump at the chance to play for rangers. the likely asking price would be around £4 million. I'd love him at Ibrox. Although i think this means the end for Boyd...? Cos i think we have one too many strikers and i dont think plg likes Kris at all
  9. Rangers manager Paul Le Guen has urged his players to kick-start their season with a clean sheet against Livorno. The Ibrox side travelled to Italy eager to put their poor domestic form behind them after falling 10 points behind league leaders Celtic. Looking ahead to the Uefa Cup clash, Le Guen said: "I hope we can get back to winning ways." Full-back Phil Bardsley failed to travel with the squad after an alleged training ground bust-up with Le Guen. The Frenchman was criticised by some Rangers fans for dropping goalkeeper Allan McGregor in favour of Lionel Letizi for Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Inverness Caledonian Thistle. We must aim to get a clean sheet and defend well but also to counter-attack Rangers manager Paul Le Guen Letizi appeared at fault for Inverness' goal, but Le Guen has urged his players to put their domestic troubles behind them and concentrate on the Livorno game. "We know there is a lot of criticism for us right now, but that is normal," said Le Guen. "When we have a poor game, we cannot expect a different situation." The Frenchman said Rangers would face a "very good side" in Livorno. "We must aim to get a clean sheet and defend well but also to counter-attack," he said. Cristiano Lucarelli is expected to return against Rangers "We know they will be hard to break down. They have some very experienced players. "We must be far better than we played last weekend. Our aim is always to win every game, but we know it will be difficult." Livorno, who are unbeaten in seven games, lie in sixth place in Serie A after a 2-0 win at Ascoli on Sunday without Italy striker Cristiano Lucarelli, who has scored 73 goals in three seasons. Le Guen said: "Livorno have done well since the beginning of the season. "We know they are a good team and their main striker, Lucarelli, will be back. "My main preoccupation though is to be better than we were on Saturday. "We cannot accept another performance like Saturday."
  10. The AC Milan midfielder was quoted in the press on Sunday as saying he would return to Rangers before he retired. But, speaking on the Italian club's website on Tuesday, he assured fans he would end his career in Italy. "I want to end my career at Milan and (president) Galliani knows it. For me, the only possibility is to end with the Rossoneri," the 28-year-old said. Gattuso signed for Rangers in 1997 before being sold to Salernitana 18 months later. After eight years at Milan, I do not see any other way but to finish my career at this club Rino Gattuso The midfielder was quoted at the weekend as saying he met Rangers chairman David Murray in August and told him he would be happy to return to Ibrox. However, the combative midfielder, who is married to a Scot and contracted to AC Milan until 2011, said on Milan's website he did not want to follow Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko's example and leave the club. "I want to relax all the tifosi - there will not be another Shevchenko case," Gattuso said. "I do not have any problems being at Milan and will fight for this shirt. "All I know is Scottish football appeals to me. But, after eight years at Milan, I do not see any other way but to finish my career at this club. "In conclusion, I want to say that it would be difficult for me to leave a club like Milan, all the tifosi and the San Siro. "I cannot forget what Milan has given me in my career." gattuso needs to decide what he is doing instead of muckin around
  11. http://www.gersnet.info/fmrangers/newmain/151006.html After another week of mediocrity, weakness and capitulation, where do Rangers FC go from here? Season 06/07 began with excitement and predictions of grandeur. The appointment of PLG and the signing of a few new, young players along with the eventual removal of the past-it fringe guys meant that Rangers would be once again heading for the record books by capturing our 52nd title. Incredibly, only 10 games and less than 3 months into the new season, the only record we’ve broken is one to compliment the not so proud one of last season. Last year seen Eck oversee the worst run of results in our history. This season, we’ve currently ‘enjoying’ our worst ever start to an SPL campaign. So what has went wrong and who is responsible? Let’s start with the players. The personnel may have changed since last year but the same inadequacies exist. We appear unfit; are one-paced; have minimal work-rate; are physically weak and most importantly lack the mental belief and character any winning team requires. These basic principles are the least we should have to operate at professional level. Yet, despite the change of manager and tactics, they still appear prevalent. That goes for every player as none have shown the consistency and/or skill levels required to escape criticism. Every player should now be playing for their future – no matter their past record or reputation. That takes us nicely to the new management team. Paul Le Guen and Yves Colleau arrived with first-class credentials. Although still relatively young, their 3 titles in France and decent European performances meant the Rangers fans were right to be excited and expect a new era with success attached. Certainly, the Frenchmen showed no signs of pressure or nerves as they said and did all the right things pre-season. Fernando Ricksen being sent to Coventry (or the Russian equivalent!) and reports of 3 training sessions per day were an early sign of fitness improvements with new levels of discipline. At last the players would earn their inflated wages! We started the season well enough, the football was good and although there were some early dropped points, that was unlucky and understandable for a new regime. Since then though things have got gradually worse. Results have been awful; performances lacklustre; the coaching team seem stubborn; the manager dismissive of the fans’ thoughts and evidence of a hard pre-season’s fitness work impossible to find with the usual glut of injuries and unfit players. As such, PLG and his assistants must take their share of the blame – no excuses please! Now we find ourselves at the top of the tree and conversely the root of the problem – the directors and owner of the club. Criticism of Martin Bain and David Murray has been rife over the last few years of downsizing. In some ways that criticism has been unfair but in others not only is it relevant but also has still to be appreciated and addressed by the board. Like it or not our financial downsizing was necessary – we needed to reduce our debt. However, that does not mean to say our ambitions should be reduced by the same factor, nor our pride, heritage and attitudes to our support. The club is for sale and other than the impressive and innovative RST ‘Gersave’ scheme there appears to be little interest from any potential buyer towards a chairman/owner who would rather be anywhere than Glasgow and Ibrox. The pre-season hope seems such a long way away now. Rangers FC and our fans have been through a lot in the last year. We’ve just finished 3rd in the SPL, which is unprecedented for many of our fans. Not since the mid-80s have we had such a poor season domestically. The UEFA problems are still causing friction and there’s no doubt heavy-handed policing and stewarding at Ibrox has affected the general ambience of Ibrox – it’s not the same place and probably never will be again. Our club has changed forever. Therefore what does the future hold for us? Should we prepare ourselves now for a lifetime of mediocrity? On and off the field we now appear to be 2nd best or worse. Is this acceptable? Is this a blip? Have we been spoiled by success? How can we change things? Who can improve them? The answer to those crucial questions is the same as the answer as to our problems. Firstly the players must improve or leave. Secondly the management team must improve or leave. Finally, the board must improve or leave. This isn’t a question that can be answered overnight. It will take a wee bit longer before we can decide if their answers are suitable. But we won’t be cheated and we won’t be disrespected. We deserve better than that. Without the fans Rangers would be nothing. The fans currently have to look themselves in the mirror and act for the good of the club. Can the same be asked of the staff of OUR club – from the cleaners who turn a blind eye to troublemakers; to the high rollers who turn their nose up at singing sections? Will they be ‘Ready’ or not ‘Ready’ to answer the questions and challenges ahead?
  12. "Rino Gattuso sensationally revealed last night he's agreed to return to Rangers" screams the back page of the NOTW. However, sadly his contract expires in 5 years (2011, when he's 33). He does however state he's disillusioned with Italian football and may come sooner if a fee is agreed. He states wages won't be a problem and has already shaken on deal with David Murray. "I get really pissed off watching a bad Rangers performance, even though i left seven years ago. That's not natural. I watched the last Old Firm game and wanted to jump into the TV and help out that midfield." "I'm a Catholic, and i'm getting pissed off when a Protestant team gets beat by a Catholic one and in that moment i'm hating the Catholic team. It's a really weird thing, that. I don't do it deliberately. It just comes naturally." "I'm going to go back. I've promised myself and the president, and i'm adamant that it will happen. I won't go there to take a pension. I won't go at 35 or 36 - i'll go when i've still got something to offer them, at a European level as well as Scottish." "Rangers bring out some really strong feelings in me. I'm really protective of that whole experience and what it gave me - it made me who i am today." ---------------------------------------------------- Dear God, what we would give for Rino at Ibrox at this moment in time - this interview has slightly cheered me up this morning, but it has also saddened me a bit - remember the midfield that we once had - Gazza, Rino, Albertz, Gio, Reyna, Tugay and remember that Mr Liar told us they would be replaced by better players... Anyway, haste you back wee man Cammy F
  13. been to every home game bar molde this season and the new songs getting played at ibrox are starting to grow on me what does everyone else think
  14. If we do not force Murrays hand, the future for Rangers Football Club under the continued custodianship of David Murray is not just bleak, but should put the fear of God into the Rangers support. In the last 5 or so years, Rangers have stagnated both on and off the pitch, but today was a new low for Rangers and for me, signals that our demise is closer than we all realise (or maybe care to realise). David Murray has made it abundantly clear that he is not putting any of his money into Rangers, and we just have to guess where the JJB, Champions League and season ticket money disappeared to. His stewardship has seen his and his families companies rape Rangers for every penny they could get. Oh, hope your nice wee lovely £4.5M pound house is to your satisfaction Mr Murray. If he is allowed to continue as Chairman, we are in for a long hard slog brothers and sisters. We are in for more seasons of misery (that is what it feels like) and we are in for more seasons of finishing 3rd, 4th and maybe even 5th in the SP fucking L. We will have to sit back (and pay up) and watch our youths being rattled every other week, our enemies continuing to attack us and the authorities continue their demonising of everything connected to this ONCE GREAT CLUB. A few more months of Murray and we’ll need to adopt the Everton chant – And If You Know Your History – as that is all we will have – we certainly don’t have a future. Could The Rangers become the next Third Lanark, under David Murray, anything (negative) is possible. Watching the goings on at Ibrox at the moment is akin to watching a well love relative / friend die with a slow and painful ilness. You know that the end is in sight, but you are clinging to the hope for a remarkable recovery. Cammy F

  16. Despite being overseas, Ive been lucky enough to watch most of our games so far this season. Ive saw us on TV against Motherwell, Dundee Utd, Dunfermline, Hearts and Celtic, and managed to make visits to Ibrox for the games against Molde and Aberdeen. During the opening games I was impressed with our attacking play and liked the formation of 4-2-3-1 that Le Guen brought. I felt it just need a bit more time and a bit of luck but it was early in the season and players were still a bit rusty. The chances we created in the match against Dundee Utd alone were enought to hit double figures and despite the result it was a great game to watch at Ibrox again. Recently Le Guen has tinkered with the formation a bit and put out 2 wingers which is clicking on occassions. But it showed when we deployed this at Celtic away we couldnt get in the game bar a 15 min spell in the 2nd half. So it was a bit of going back to the drawing board for Le Guen. Its now Mid October (and this time last year we where having our worst run ever) and we really should be a settled side by now, however we dont know who our number 1 keeper will be when all 3 are fit, we dont know who are our better centre half partnership, we dont know who is going to play wide and we dont know who will play upfront. I still have full confidence Le Guen will get it right and that he is the man for the job but we need to see some consistancy soon with a heavy log of games domestically and in europe coming up.

I've just read he had an exellent game against the tim reserves who had 9 first team players playing. In our time of need any chance of him appearing on the first team bench? Does anyone who watches the reserves see a future for him at Ibrox?
  18. Well, it's a mad 'Scotland' anyway.... We have a set of fans who fly a flag designed and created by a convicted IRA terrortist which was approved and (possibly) paid for by the club. We also have a set of fans who fly flags designed by Peadophiles, rapists and murderers in Peterhead jail (who receive payment for this). All these banners are welcome at Ibrox (as they are at their home stadiums) with open arms, yet an 'Ulster Scots' banner was going to be banned...... (bought, paid for by hard-working people). Also, the person who allows these banners to be flown at Ibrox has stated in conversation with a well known fanzine editor that he believes that 'We Are The People' is a sectarian song / chant / phrase. McIntyre you are not welcome at OUR club... Cammy F
  19. So, yet another great performance by McGregor tonight. i have to say, he's change my mind about him, I wasn't sure he could cut it at the club. Added to that a lot of people on here saying how his attitude stank and hadn't impressed at Dunfermline, I thought he was going to be very shaky when Letizi got injured. But I have to say, the lad has done well and seems to be going from strength to strength. So, does that mean he is now the number 1 keeper? I'd say it does. What more does he have to do to make the position his own? We've been crying out for a young keeper to take his chance in the first XI and finally it seems to have happened. So why not stick with him? Of course, PLG might have other plans. I know McGregor was upset and disappointed to read that Letizi would walk straight back in to the team, but I'm wondering if PLG has changed his mind. As things stand, if McGregor is dropped, then its nothing short of scandalous. I'm surprised there's not been more positive words coming out of Ibrox for him which makes me think he has no future here. On the other hand, I wonder if McGregor himself is now willing to stay and build a career at Ibrox or if things have gone too far. All I know is its great to finally be able to see a young Scottish keeper in goal for us and long may it continue.

  21. http://www.rangerssupporterstrust.co.uk/news/2006/260906.html 26 September 2006 The RST Needs You! Help Needed at Ibrox on Wednesday! Win Hospitality Tickets! As revealed last week, the Rangers Supporters Trust will be sponsoring the UEFA Cup return leg against Molde FC at Ibrox on Thursday 28th September. Part of the sponsorship has meant that we will be attaching a 'Gersave' booklet to every seat in Ibrox for the game, and as such will be looking for as much assistance as possible to help make this happen. We will be looking for people to come into Ibrox at 10am tomorrow (Wednesday 27/09/06) and help ensure each seat in the stadium will have a booklet. This will be a pivotal moment in launching Gersave awareness and thus the Trusts' existence. Therefore we are looking for everyone to help out wherever possible. Even if you are only able to help out for a couple of hours, every little bit helps and would be greatly appreciated. If you turn up and help on the set-up times you will automatically be entered into a special raffle. This will give 2 people the chance to win individual hospitality packages for the game. The match is sure to be a sell-out so this is your opportunity not only to get a ticket but to enjoy our first home European match of the season in 5* comfort. 22. Once again the wee bigot makes an inflammatory gesture to the Rangers support during an OF game and once again the wee innocent, misunderstood and downtrodden maggot gets away with it. When the gesture was brought to the attention of the Police, they shrugged it off and said that it was up to the SPL to act / punish the wee reptile. This leads me on to the Policing and Stewarding of OF games at Torbett Towers. As you approach from the East, you are forced along London Road and are met by streets filled with the jolly craicsters who jovially throw objects at buses, drink in the street and sing their loveable terrorist songs with impunity. It isnââ?¬â?¢t until you turn into the ââ?¬Ë?Rangers Parking Sectionââ?¬â?¢ that you encounter a Policeman. And by God, do you encounter them in the bus park ââ?¬â?? they are there in riot gear, on horses and with dogs. As we walked the short distance to the ground, I had my ticket checked 3 times and had the bag containing our club flag searched twice (and was then searched at the turnstyles). The steward in the first cordon was a charming fellow who had some lovely Indian ink tattoos. On one hand he had ââ?¬Ë?1916ââ?¬â?¢ and on the other ââ?¬Ë?I-R-Aââ?¬â?¢. Now imagine the outcry if Craptic fans were greeted at Ibrox with stewards with U-V-F and King Billy tattoos? Add this to the overzealous Policing at Easter Road the pervious week, one has to ask the question, do all other travelling supporters face the same hostility, heavy-handedness and provocation whilst visiting places like Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Parkhead, or is this some sort of welcome especially reserved for Rangers fans? 24. A few weeks / months back, Frankie did an excellent article on how he belived that David Murray was preparing to sell Rangers Football Club and today, Leggit has this has his lead story. He is saying that Murray will accept an offer in the region of £40 million pounds, preferrabley from a Scottish consortium. It appears that Murray knows that his time is up and is actively looking for someone to buy his shares in Rangers and take control of the club. If this doesn't happen sooner rather than later, this is very bad news for us. If a buyer isn't found soon, Murray will continue to everything in his power to make us an 'attractive propisition'. That will mean NO money for the manager, more PC directives (leading to more songs and fans being banned) and more of the crap we have had to put up with for years (papers attacking us with no retribution etc). I have also heard that Ian Durrant will lose his job in the next 2-3 weeks and he has already lost his access to Ibrox, Players lounge etc on match-days. David Murray, via Martin Bain is ridding Rangers of its 'Rangersness' as he believes that makes us more attractive to buyers. This is the reason that people like Campbell Ogilvie, Geroge Adam, John Brown etc have been sacked. In summary, Murray will KILL this club so he can sell it - lets hope that we get a buyer sooner rather than later. Cammy F
  25. I know there was a lot mentioned about the actions of a 'few' supporters at the game and a lot of mixed feelings on the board so thought the earlier something came out about it the better.....
