Rangers bid for Croatian hitman Jelavic

Recommended Posts

This is a game of "lets see who blinks first" , yes he could score a barrel load in the Europa league and be subject to a mega bucks bid , he could also sign a pre contract and go for nothing , to be honest I cant get overlt excited either way

And the season kicks off next week.

We're too slow and too weak in our transfer dealings. It seems almost every club and agent knows this.

I would prefer if Jelavic was still playing for us in the group stages of the Europa League and scoring goals, Rapid general manager Werner Kuhn said yesterday. We could then sell him for a spectacular fee in January.

I think that must dispell the myth that Jelavic is in the last year of his contract. He has two years to go hence the £4m fee. We will not get him on a bosman in January.

We have to remember we had a bit of £3million for Boyd in the January transfer window so strikers do cost a bit more cash than other players in the same contract situation.

I think this transfer is dead, so hopefully we have other targets to move onto.

Which would be a pity as he's obviously the No. 1 target. Thinking back to Elmander and ending up with Sebo makes you hope we have someone else of similar quality to Jelavic lined up.

It would be a pity but we can't afford to wait around given our lack of goals in pre-season.

It's not rocket science to have a list of targets around the same price, moving onto the next one if unsuccessful with the first.

If you go to a restaurant and they've run out of steak, do you pick something equally tasty from the same menu, or leave and go to McDonald's 3 weeks later?

That would mean being professional, having a plan, thinking ahead.

C'mon Frankie we are Rangers.:robbo:
