Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell delivered a withering response to Ally McCoist's comments on the selection of the Scottish League Cup final venue when he declared his club's stadium "the biggest and the best".

On Thursday, McCoist claimed he could have bet money on Ibrox losing out to Celtic Park after Parkhead was chosen as the location for the March 16 clash between Aberdeen and Inverness.

Responding to McCoist's comments on Celtic Park being chosen, Lawwell said: "It's the pre-eminent stadium in Scotland, it's the biggest and the best.

"So if you want to have a bet on the biggest and the best, then you will always win."

Seems like Lawwell would be better served taking his issue up with UEFA. They are the ones who rate Ibrox as being superior to the midden.

Murray made a huge mistake not matching or exceeding Parkheads capacity back in the 90's. It was always going to hold us back in the future. This is just one tiny example of them having an upper hand on us. Financially we cannot compete with them either. Near 60000 crowds in Europe every year have helped them become Scotlands biggest football business and a decade long of near capacity attendances(up until a few years ago) have sewn the seeds of their upper hand.

I don't ever see is competing with them financially until we increase Ibrox capacity, whether we need it or not. All the big clubs around the world when building their new grounds are going for 60k plus, not 50k, those days are past, football has moved and we need to move with it.

It's ambitious and costly of course but will be there forever, the long term effects would be well worth it. Granted right now is not the time.

You basically read my thoughts to be honest. It's scary :laugh2:

Inferiority complex, much?

No dignified silence here, then?
