Oh I know, I just meant it is pertinent to this particular visit. I despair of them all. I'm just glad I don't live in Scotland as I believe in voting but I'd be damned hard pushed to find someone for whom I could vote. It's been bloody hard enough in England but in Scotland - yikes!

That is just it Frankie. Other people should be asking the question not a Rangers fan group. What have Rangers got to do with a bunch of politicians going into a pub? I don't disagree that the question should be asked, I disagree they are using Rangers name to make their point.

I seem to remember during the Commonwealth Games, Hamza Yusuf's secretary tweeting from Ibrox during the rugby sevens. She was of the opinion that the stadium should become a rugby ground because it was full and a comfortable family atmosphere. The usual suspects like Tom English got behind this notion and when Lyndsay Sharp won her silver medal and stated her wish to parade it at Ibrox; Hamza's secretary tweeted she should get to Ibrox during the rugby sevens as that would be Ms Sharp's only opportunity of doing so in front of a full house.

I find it confusing to see some of us suggest we steer clear of this issue.

 

Celtic have people in high places of power governmentally and we have heard plenty of times in the past that we should "fight back" and how we should stop with the "dignified silence". So here we have an official fans group "fighting back" and ignoring the "dignified silence" and they are still being pilloried for it.

 

We really need to ask ourselves whether or not we actually believe in fighting back against the systematic denigration, lies and harassment that we and our Club have suffered at the hands of Celtic fans and their powerful allies.... If we believe in fighting back then this statement is certainly a positive one to make.

 

As a life member of RST I fully support the statement - I couldn't care less what political party it was who held a presser there - the fact they held it in a pub well known for its pro-terrorist leanings is enough for me to know that a massive blunder was made - and that it should be highlighted. Well done RST for highlighting it when none of the Scottish PAID media did so.

 

Seems to me that the RST are doing a better investigative journalistic job than those actually paid to do so.

If one of our RSC's had tweeted something similar about the UVF and ****** scum, not only would they be banned from getting tickets from Ibrox, the twitter operator would be on a charge from the authorities. Our media would be all over it, with headlines all over the place about sectarianism, radio phone-ins tut-tutting about it, demanding quotes from our Directors, demanding action from the PF etc etc.

OK, let's agree it's superfluous to the formal point being made. However, for those members and Rangers fans interested in the issue and not aware of Humza's background it's well worth pointing out anecdotally and certainly doesn't detract from the overall point.

 

There's also the argument that Humza chose/helped choose the venue because of his support of this club. That's a relevance worth considering.

 

It certainly would be interesting to know what influenced the choice of venue.

There was something done, he was sent on a computer and social media awareness course, free courtesy of the tax paying public. I maintain this is where Mad Joe learned the importance of the semi-colon; but it just makes him look a twat; imo.

THE former Light Blues No8 was in Irvine to regale a crowd of more than 1000 fans with tales of his career – an event marred by sectarian chanting.

THIS is grinning former loyalist terror boss Johnny “Mad Dog” Adair posing alongside an unsuspecting Paul Gascoigne.

Adair and his girlfriend Lynne Benson were among a small group who got to meet the troubled star at an earlier “VIP” session.

 

Other guests – who paid £115 to be there – said Gascoigne had no idea who Adair was.

 

As ex-chief of the Ulster Defence Association and Ulster Freedom Fighters, he was sentenced to 16 years in jail for his part in Northern Ireland’s troubles.

 

A source said: “Johnny Adair was there for the VIP part of the evening with Gazza. This took place an hour before the main doors opened. The select 125 VIP guests then had to queue up in the hall as Gazza posed on stage with them.

 

“He was standing there like a show pony and fans only had a few seconds each with him.

 

“Johnny waited patiently with the rest of the crowd and politely greeted Gazza with a handshake before getting his photo taken with a blonde woman and exiting the stage.”

 

This week our sister paper the Irvine Herald, told how bigots ruined the event by singing sectarian songs including The Billy Boys and chanted “f*** the Pope and the IRA” .

 

Ex-Rangers goalie Andy Goram warmed up the *audience at Magnum Leisure Centre with tales of Gazza’s time at Ibrox. Then Gascoigne, 48, took to the stage to reminisce about a career in which he also played for Newcastle, Tottenham and Lazio.

 

Gazza spoke of his starring role for England in the 1990 World Cup and 1996 European Championships.

 

Adair was brigadier of C Company UFF in Shankhill Road, Belfast. He was released early from jail under the Good Friday *Agreement in 1998 and moved to start a new life in Ayrshire.

Last summer, Antoin Duffy, Martin Hughes and Paul Sands were found guilty of plotting to murder Adair and ex-UDA leader Sam “Skelly” McCrory.

 

Adair was called as a witness and, when asked if his group was *responsible for the murder of up to 40 Catholics, Adair responded: “It has been reported as that.”

 

Terry Baker, of A1 Sporting Speakers, said of Adair and Gazza’s handshake: “Paul definitely didn’t know him because he didn’t mention it.”
