Yes we know why,the Mexicans are obviously setting Carlos up , not

And his former manager at Guadalajara, Matias Almeyda, said: "I learned to love Carlos when he was at the club.

"He's an excellent guy, an excellent player, but he obviously had some episodes.

"I tried my best to help him. I told him I would do it because I loved him.

I've seen many players like him who have ended up badly and I don't want that with Carlos.

"I don't want him to waste his best years of football by partying.

"His friends need to help him too. If they turn up with beer and wine, they are not helping him."

The owner of the club, Jorge Vergara, later revealed why they decided to sell Pena back to Leon last year.

He said: "We supported him as best we could, but unfortunately the only environment where he feels comfortable is at Leon.

"We offered him personal therapy, with a specialist in his problems.

"I personally employed an Australian man who had very good results with other people...but not with him.

"He has made many personal decisions in his life that continue to generate problems."

This is not news.

All this was known at the time of his signing. There was some quite heated discussion on this site about his acquisition, in fact.

A flawed genius - remind you of anyone?

The issue I have at them moment is with supporters expectations - especially of Pena.

Several posts so far have been lauding Pena as the missing piece of the jigsaw.....but how long will they give him to settle into the team once ready??? I don't think he'll last a full game without criticism if he's not totally outstanding from the 1st whistle. A couple of slack passes & he'll be the biggest waste of money ever. That'll be followed by a flash of brilliance & he'll be back to being the saviour.

I think we need to move focus away (initially) from the component parts and focus on the Teams strengths & weaknesses.....Then focus on how they are addressed.

Lets not get too carried away with the league yet...we're only 3 games in. After 20 games, does anyone REALLY expect St Johnstone to be sitting 2nd & Hamilton 4th???

Can't blame the players nor the manager for not trying. On another day, we might have scored 3 or 4 (Miller 2, Alves, Morelos, Hardie), Hearts 1 at best. How that linesman flagged offside against Windass/Wallace is something only he will now.

You watched a different game from me. If we'd scraped a 1-0 we'd have been doing well. Our final ball and vision was awful. We were far too predictable. All Hearts had to do was sit back. We never made them made them work. The only pressure I remember being put on the Hearts goalie was once during the second half. The rest of the time he collected comfortably under no pressure.

The whole point of the Hearts setup was to put nearly 10 players behind the ball. Had the above-mentioned scored but a single goal, they would have had to open up and this would have created chances for us. We'd sure not end up with a 6-0 like we did against the Pars, but if the opponents leave spaces, we sure have the ability to punish them.

We have seen it for these last two seasons that teams can do quite well in parking the bus and let us come at them. How often do they use that against other teams? A tactic that some do better than others and it it simply hard to break that down if the opponent is well drilled. I cannot remember other leagues or season of days gone by where such a strategy was employed, as in: going for a point from the off and hope for the odd free kick, corner, or counter attack to scrape all three points. Likewise, I am still somewhat annoyed by the constant FLAK our players get when they fail to break this kind of "football" down. We have limited ability and - as has been said before - our players are probably unused to this kind of football. I would hope that we have sussed this tatic out after 8 to 10 league games though. Right now, only the lack of goals from chances created is a point of bother, with or without the interference of a half-blind linesman.

.

..

We used the exact same tactic at home to a Barcelona team consisting of Ronaldinho, Messi and Theiry Henry in 2007 effectively gaining us a very valuable point in the CL.The press in spite of Barcelonas slick passing and creative play, if I remember correctly, termed them as *Wasteful*. Really? In fact Cousin could have gained us all 3 points if he'd netted a great chance with about 10 minutes to play. I don't remember anyone on our side complaining about the type of negative football we played that night but rather lauded it as a fantastic defensive performance.

Not forgetting that we scored a perfectly good goal against Hearts, that for the life of me, I have no idea why it was chalked off? I cant blame Hearts for adopting the tactic nor can I complain that we were unsuccessful against it when we've done it ourself to teams who were, on paper, supposedly much better than ourselves. I'm disappointed that we didn't secure the win that we wanted but to be shouting 'Oi Vey!' about it three games into a season is hypocritical in the extreme.

That's interesting because I've been told the opposite.

IMO, standing sections are less of an issue than sorting out winning on the park regularly first but we'll see.

The Club are definitely sending out mixed messages on the issue of safe standing, been told it's happening by some then others saying it's never going to happen.

My own experience is that lip service is something the club are very good at.
